Lethal Stunner: Kicking Off with Five Beast Husbands -
Chapter 67 The Fragile Mermaid
Chapter 67: Chapter 67 The Fragile Mermaid
"Who is he?" Xiao Jinsheng asked, puzzled.
She was just as curious, wondering why Li had such a strong reaction upon seeing him.
"A bandit, a ruthless thief who specializes in plundering supplies," Li answered gravely.
Upon hearing the person outside was a black-hearted rogue, Xiao Jinsheng immediately took a misstep and hid behind Li.
"A thief crying ’stop thief,’ don’t you think that’s a bit shameless?" Shi Xie lightly tapped on the floor-to-ceiling window by the door.
The afternoon breeze subtly lifted the edges of his gauzy white dress, and the warm sunlight streaming into the corridor bathed his elegant, pristine figure in a divine glow.
Xiao Jinsheng gazed at him in amazement, while Shi Xie, standing outside the window, threw her a playful wink.
But she hadn’t stared for long before Li raised a hand to cover her eyes. "Don’t look at him. I already told you he’s a bandit."
"But... he seems rather polite," Xiao Jinsheng said softly.
At this moment, Li felt as though the sky had fallen.
No matter how many precautions he took, from the start, his wariness had been about this fishy guy.
And yet, under the door, a small stream of water flowed inside.
The water pooled together, frost gathering as it formed. The person who had just been standing outside the window—now, there he was inside the room, Shi Xie.
Shi Xie smiled as he removed the crown from his head and offered it to Xiao Jinsheng. "Miss, please forgive my intrusion. I hope this token of apology brings you joy."
A platinum crown adorned with deep-sea pearls, it radiated a serene elegance while maintaining an air of regal authority.
Xiao Jinsheng’s fingers twitched toward it, but before she could, Li’s large hand enveloped hers completely.
Li pulled her tightly into his embrace, shielding her from Shi Xie like guarding against a thief. "Don’t accept it. He likes to coat his items with poison."
Xiao Jinsheng gasped sharply. Seeing the saintly yet strikingly handsome face of Shi Xie now woke her from admiration, her gaze taking on a layer of caution.
"I harbor no hostility toward you," Shi Xie explained with a smile. Though his words addressed Li, his eyes wandered over to Xiao Jinsheng and the other five—Mo Jiao included. "I am here to seek my clan’s lost treasure."
Shi Xie produced a refined shell, opened it, and projected an image onto the wall of an underwater floral paradise.
Lit by a silvery glow, the deep ocean scene was full of mysterious beauty, with vibrant coral reefs swaying amid drifting seaweed and colorful fish. Upon golden-white sands, pearls lay scattered like gemstones.
As the projection shifted, the focus settled on a few branches of icy blue flowers springing from a patch of pink-blue coral.
Shi Xie explained, "These are called Ice Sea Flowers. I wonder if any of you have seen them before. If you can provide me with any clues, I am willing to offer a 9-Star Star Stone as a reward."
"These flowers are so..." Yu Yunxiao began to exclaim in awe, but was cut short when Que Zelian stomped on his foot.
Shi Xie’s hopeful gaze turned toward Yu Yunxiao, only for Yu Yunxiao to smile awkwardly and divert his words: "So unique."
Shi Xie: ...
"I spent twenty years cultivating the Ice Sea Flowers," Shi Xie said, his cerulean lashes lowered, his face steeped in sorrow. "They were meant for my future Female Master. I waited two decades for them to bloom, only to have them stolen a few days ago."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Jinsheng and the others displayed varying expressions, all maintaining an outward semblance of calm.
But internally? Utter panic.

Huaiqing: @Li, isn’t that the flower you brought back the other day?
Yu Yunxiao: @Li, why’d you steal someone’s flower? They spent twenty years growing it!
Li: It wasn’t theft. It was my war trophy.
Que Zelian: But now the owner’s come after it.
Mo Jiao: Knew you’d stir up trouble.
Su Ye: @Li, where’s the flower?
Xiao Jinsheng: ...I ate it.
The five beast husbands fell silent at once.
Only Li remained as defiant as ever.
"Are you sure none of you have seen the Ice Sea Flowers?" Shi Xie asked heartbreakingly, his sorrowful expression full of despair.
"Never seen them, don’t know them," Su Ye replied curtly.
"Even if you don’t have the flowers, won’t the Terminal still match you with a Female Master?" Yu Yunxiao asked.
Little did he know, those very words hit some hidden sore spot in Shi Xie.
His tall figure wavered, and he collapsed weakly in Xiao Jinsheng’s direction.
"Don’t you dare fake an injury!" Li scowled, clutching Xiao Jinsheng tightly as he took a swift step back.
Shi Xie dropped heavily to the floor, appearing barely conscious.
"Is he really injured?" Xiao Jinsheng asked in concern.
"He’s 10-Stars in superpower. How could he be so frail?" Li retorted with irritation.
As he spoke, his toe nudged lightly at Shi Xie’s leg. "Get up and scram. Don’t think you can pull your tricks here."
Shi Xie whimpered pitifully, tears welling as he looked up in pain.
From where Xiao Jinsheng stood, she could clearly see tears slipping from the corners of his eyes and falling to the ground, where they transformed into gleaming white pearls.
"Quit pretending. I didn’t even kick you that hard," Li muttered, brow furrowing as he prepared to personally drag Shi Xie outside.
Xiao Jinsheng tugged on Li’s sleeve, urging, "Let’s try talking to him properly."
After all... the flower he’d spent twenty years growing had been eaten by her, of all people.
Yu Yunxiao was dragged over to assess Shi Xie’s condition. Casually flicking his feline ears, he didn’t appear to take it too seriously—
Until his superpower check made him cry out in shock, "His leg bone’s fractured!"
"What?" Xiao Jinsheng froze.
Li scoffed, his smile turning cold as he grabbed Shi Xie by the collar and began hauling him out. "Out you go."
Shi Xie didn’t resist; cold sweat streamed from his body, his face going pale.
As he was dragged, his ice-blue eyes flickered feebly toward Xiao Jinsheng before closing, his body slumping into unconsciousness.
"Wait, wait!" Xiao Jinsheng hurried after them. "He really looks like he might die."
"He’s just acting! Trying to trick you," Li insisted vehemently.
"Who would go to the extent of breaking their leg to put on an act?" Yu Yunxiao interjected in support.
"And now you’re taking his side?" Li snapped, shooting Yu Yunxiao an icy glare before gesturing at the other four men. "That guy fragile? The five of you combined wouldn’t even measure up to one slap from him."
"Even if you want him gone, couldn’t you wait for him to regain consciousness first?" Huaiqing spoke up. "There are mutant beasts roaming around outside. No matter how powerful his superpowers are, he can’t defend himself while unconscious."
At the same time, Xiao Jinsheng glanced at her Star Map and saw Huaiqing had sent her a private message:
Huaiqing: 7
Recalling Huaiqing’s premonition about the upcoming competition—and thinking about how polite and seemingly vulnerable Shi Xie was—Xiao Jinsheng attempted to reassure Li. "Let’s wait until he wakes up before asking him to leave, alright?"
"And... it really was us who ate the flowers he grew," she reminded him softly.
"That was my spoils of war," Li countered stubbornly. "Mist West is a ’finders keepers’ kind of place."
"But you took something right out of his home," Xiao Jinsheng coaxed.
Feeling wronged, Li rested his chin on her shoulder. "He also raided my territory and took over one of my islands, and that island has a gemstone mine."
"Alright, alright, don’t be upset," Xiao Jinsheng said as she gently patted Li on the back. "Since he’s taken your things before, let’s wait for him to wake up, and then we’ll talk everything out."
"Fine," Li relented with a nod.
His gaze flicked toward Shi Xie, who had been moved to lie on the couch, his red eyes brimming with hostility.
Two hours later, Shi Xie finally began to stir awake.
Originally, Xiao Jinsheng had wanted to discuss the matter of the Ice Sea Flowers with him properly.
But before she could, Shi Xie—his leg injured, weakness evident—leaned back against the couch and started crying.
His reddened eyes brimmed with tears, silent streams that rolled down his cheeks and transformed into pearls, bouncing loudly as they hit the floor—’pat, pat.’
"Your leg—don’t worry, we’ll heal it. Stop crying, alright?" Xiao Jinsheng said, trying to hand him some tissues.
However, as she watched the tears sliding off his cheeks and turning into pearls, she hesitated, unsure whether Shi Xie would even need tissues.
