Chapter 33: Chapter 33 Xiao Jinsheng is Kidnapped

"If you won’t let me pet it, forget it," Xiao Jinsheng snorted. "I’ll just get my own kitten later."

"A kitten can’t turn into a human," Yu Yunxiao muttered softly under his breath.

Xiao Jinsheng’s earlier actions seemed like nothing more than a momentary whim.

After teasing the cat, Xiao Jinsheng’s attention shifted to the nearby shelves.

They were filled with various animal plush toys, all modeled after mutated animals.

"I’ll go check out those plush toys," Xiao Jinsheng called out casually.

Yu Yunxiao was still loading cans into the shopping cart. Hearing this, he glanced toward the plush toy shelves—they weren’t far, still within his line of sight.

He quickened the pace of loading and warned, "Don’t wander too far."

"I won’t," Xiao Jinsheng replied, already pushing the shopping cart toward the shelves.

These plush toys were made in the likeness of mutant beasts, and they were often bought by Beastmen as gifts to curry favor with their mates.

Xiao Jinsheng curiously studied the designs of the plush toys, gradually moving to the innermost section of the shelves.

She glanced back and realized Yu Yunxiao’s figure was already obscured by the rows of toys.

Though this place didn’t have Fog Corpses, wandering alone still made Xiao Jinsheng feel a tinge of unease.

She pushed the shopping cart, intending to return to Yu Yunxiao.

But as she turned around, she was startled to see a figure in all black—a man fully covered—standing right beside her without her noticing.

The man in black held a cloth soaked in some kind of drug and ruthlessly pressed it against her nose and mouth, not even giving Xiao Jinsheng a chance to cry for help.

"Xiao Jinsheng?" Yu Yunxiao, pushing a cart full of canned goods, arrived at the plush toy section but found no trace of Xiao Jinsheng.

The shopping cart she had been using was still left at the innermost part of the shelves.

Sensing something amiss, Yu Yunxiao rushed over and found the teasing cat wand that Xiao Jinsheng had been playing with earlier discarded near the wheels of the cart.

He looked deeper into the shelf area and noticed a small door built into the corner wall leading outside.

By this door, Yu Yunxiao detected faint traces of Xiao Jinsheng’s scent.

Unable to reach Xiao Jinsheng through Star Map, he quickly sent a message about her disappearance to four others and darted through the small door himself to give chase.

Xiao Jinsheng regained consciousness from the effects of the drug, only to find her hands bound behind her back and her body lying sideways on a cold, hard floor.

"Miss Xiao, long time no see," sneered a man with a scruffy beard and a prominent scar near the corner of his eye as he crouched down, staring at her with vicious intent.

Despite the lingering dizziness from the drug, Xiao Jinsheng turned her head toward the man. "Who the hell are you?"

"Playing dumb?" Scarred Man let out a sinister laugh. "No one has ever done business with Big Scar, taken back the goods, and lived to tell the tale."

Xiao Jinsheng struggled to sit upright, leaning her back against the wall. From her Space, she discreetly retrieved a blade and began carefully cutting through the ropes tying her hands.

She glanced at Big Scar, narrowing her eyes to study his face, then shook her head contemptuously. "Don’t understand. Would you like to be redirected to customer support?"

"Xiao Jinsheng, you’d better not piss me off!"

Big Scar flared up instantly, brandishing a dagger and pressing it under Xiao Jinsheng’s chin. "You sold me a Five-Star Beastman, then took my men to kill my Four-Star Mutant Bear and even stole back that Five-Star Beastman."

"You think I don’t know how business works? Let me teach you—deals like that come with a price, and if you play games with me, you’ll pay with your life!"

Big Scar was absolutely furious.

Back then, Xiao Jinsheng had sold him Mo Jiao, and Big Scar had already set up for Mo Jiao to fight in life-and-death matches in the Black Market Beast Fighting Arena.

"Do you have any idea how much Crystal Core you’ve cost me, you damn brat?!" Big Scar bellowed furiously. "Three million! Because you took Mo Jiao, I lost three million!"

His cruel gaze made it seem like he wanted to tear Xiao Jinsheng apart piece by piece.

"Pathetic," Xiao Jinsheng sneered. "No wonder you only offered one Three-Star Crystal Core for a Five-Star Beastman—what a lousy cheapskate. Losing three million and acting like your ancestors’ graves were dug up."

"Shut up, or I’ll kill you right now!" Big Scar raised his dagger and thrust it toward Xiao Jinsheng’s head, only to freeze when the muzzle of a silver handgun aimed squarely at his forehead.

"You’re the one who should shut up," Xiao Jinsheng growled, her hands gripping the silver firearm firmly and its barrel directed at Big Scar’s head.

This abduction was different from the time she encountered Li.

Back then, she was trapped in Li’s Domain where signals from Star Map could not reach her.

But this time, she was still in Moon City, and as soon as she woke up, she received urgent messages from Yu Yunxiao and the others through Star Map. Knowing they’d need time to arrive, Xiao Jinsheng realized she’d have to save herself first.

"Hmm, a gun," Big Scar raised his hands mockingly, his grin filled with resentment. "Alright, alright, I surrender."

He stepped back, but as he moved away from the gun’s sightline, he couldn’t resist throwing out a threat. "I’ll let you off just this once, but the grudge between us will be settled eventually."

With those words, he turned to leave, but just as Xiao Jinsheng rose to keep aiming at him, Big Scar swung back around, delivering a fierce kick to her wrist.

The silver gun flew far from her grasp, and Big Scar lunged forward ahead of her, grabbing the weapon.

Big Scar smugly flipped the handgun in his palm before leveling the muzzle at Xiao Jinsheng’s forehead. "Trying to outsmart me, huh?"

"You cost me Crystal Core—there’s only one way you’ll repay me: your life!"

Big Scar snarled, pulling the trigger aimed squarely at Xiao Jinsheng’s head.

But no gunshot rang out.

Big Scar froze, staring at the weapon dumbfounded, repeatedly pulling the trigger another four or five times.

"Damn it!" he cursed, slamming the handgun onto the floor in frustration. "Toy gun? You’re messing with me?"

Bending down, he picked up his dagger again. "Maybe I’ll try slicing your throat instead," he sneered.

Approaching her with the blade in hand, Xiao Jinsheng, despite the sharp pain in her wrist, scrambled to retrieve the handgun, her weak fingers shaky but refusing to give up.

The silver gun’s blast had no visible effect in the Big Scar’s eyes, more like harmless air pellets than actual ammunition.

He sneered, "Little girl, toy guns can’t kill anyone."

"Don’t come any closer—I’ll... I’ll really kill you," Xiao Jinsheng stammered, tears welling up in her eyes as her trembling hands raised the gun.

It wasn’t clear if her shaking stemmed from physical pain or the mental challenge of breaking the moral, civilized boundaries she’d been raised with to kill.

"Ooh, I’m so scared," Big Scar chuckled darkly, holding his blade and creeping closer, step by step. "Ever seen a chicken being slaughtered? I’ll slice your throat, let all the blood spill out so you won’t die immediately. Fun, right?"

His cruel grin stretched wide as he stood half a meter away, lifting his dagger to strike.

"Bang—"

A thunderous crack echoed as the handgun released the full force of one Star Stone’s energy, blasting Big Scar square in the chest, the concentrated shot creating a bloody hole through his torso.

Though Xiao Jinsheng was spared from the Star Stone’s explosive effects due to its binding mechanism, she wasn’t spared from the blood spray, which splashed all across half her face.

Horrified, she stared at Big Scar’s lifeless body, her hands trembling as she steadied herself against the wall.

Hearing noise from outside the room, she forced her shaky legs to stand and quickly locked the door behind her.

Soon enough, attempts to open the door came from the other side, followed by heavy banging when the intruders realized it wouldn’t budge.

Xiao Jinsheng’s mind was a chaotic whirlwind, paying no attention to the frantically buzzing messages in her Star Map feed.

Fearing Big Scar’s men had tracked the sound, she hid behind a cabinet, pulling out a fresh Star Stone from her Space to reload the gun.

Holding the weapon firmly, she began charging its energy, aiming directly at the thick steel door that now trembled from relentless kicks.

Within moments, the door burst inward, a shadowy figure blurting through the entrance and dashing straight toward Xiao Jinsheng.

Panicked, Xiao Jinsheng aimed her gun at the approaching blur.
