Chapter 32: Are You There? Touching the Cat’s Ears

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Are You There? Touching the Cat’s Ears

The group exited the space, waiting for dawn tomorrow to go out shopping.

Before going to bed, it was time for the nightly routine question.

Que Zelian looked at Xiao Jinsheng, who was about to head upstairs: "Who are you sleeping with tonight?"

Xiao Jinsheng avoided his gaze: "I want to sleep alone tonight."

The unexpected answer made Que Zelian pause for a moment.

"Not afraid of Fog Corpses anymore?" Que Zelian chuckled lightly.

"Well, we can’t live in fear of Fog Corpses every day, right? Just a little scared—like 40% scared," Xiao Jinsheng pondered.

These past few days on Mist Continent, every night had been full of worry, fearing that Fog Corpses might gnaw on her brain while she slept.

Before, there was no other choice.

Now that she had the space, she could hide inside it.

Upon hearing this, Que Zelian didn’t say much else and simply raised his lips in a smile: "Then goodnight, sweet dreams."

"Okay, you too, sweet dreams." Xiao Jinsheng nodded hurriedly and rushed to her room.

After washing up, she went directly into the space and set up her portable tent.

The space was currently empty, so the tent had to do for now.

Once the house in the space was built, she was determined to buy a soft, big bed.

The following morning, they hadn’t eaten breakfast.

Not because Huaiqing refused to cook, but because their food supplies had run out—it was perfect timing for today’s shopping trip.

As they sat in the car and saw Bai Yan’s courtyard gates tightly shut next door, Xiao Jinsheng let out a sigh of relief.

She really couldn’t stand Bai Yan’s "green tea" airs; every conversation with Bai Yan left her ready to explode.

In the Mist West, towns under terminal control and located in city centers had a terminal trading market.

Zombies in this world weren’t nearly as dangerous as Fog Corpses or Mutant Beasts.

Living in Mist East, as long as they avoided foggy weather, those with superpowers, under terminal assistance, had restored about thirty percent of pre-apocalypse prosperity to city centers.

At least most essential supplies could be purchased using crystal cores.

The car drove into the trading market’s underground parking lot, and Que Zelian raised a hand to shield Xiao Jinsheng’s head, taking her hand to help her out.

Su Ye shut the driver’s door and quickly headed toward the underground elevator.

The elevator wasn’t too big or too small, but to Xiao Jinsheng, it felt claustrophobic.

Inside the elevator, there was no one else—just her men.

At the moment, four men stood in a circle inside the elevator, each taking up a corner.

Xiao Jinsheng stood outside the elevator, turned to look at Que Zelian behind her, then glanced inside at the four men. She spread her hands and tilted her head: "Why? You’re all standing in a circle—where am I supposed to stand?"

"No space to stand?" Mo Jiao looked puzzled, then pointed upward: "You could hang from the top of the elevator."

"Why don’t you just take the stairs?" Yu Yunxiao suggested.

"I don’t even want to waste a glance at you." Xiao Jinsheng snapped at Mo Jiao first, then turned to Yu Yunxiao: "Why don’t you take the stairs?"

With that, she took a big step forward and stood in the center of the elevator.

Que Zelian followed closely behind, still standing in the space behind her.

As the elevator doors slowly closed, the small space was completely sealed, and Xiao Jinsheng began to feel that the atmosphere was slightly strange.

She lowered her head to glance around; the five men, each in their own stance, surrounded her directly in the center of the cramped space.

Her gaze swept over them—five men, folding their arms or leaning against the handrails, still encircling her.

She tilted her head up to scan the perimeter—five men, each with different expressions, their gazes all fixed on her.

Xiao Jinsheng looked left to right.

Huaiqing, stationed near the elevator buttons, pushed the golden-rimmed glasses up on his nose when their eyes met and offered her a gentle smile.

Su Ye, standing casually in the elevator’s left corner, raised his eyebrows when their gazes met and beckoned her with a curling finger.

Mo Jiao, leaning against the handrail, stepped forward half a step when she looked at him, scaring Xiao Jinsheng into retreating. His dark purple eyes gleamed as he smirked with satisfaction.

Yu Yunxiao, commanding the right-side position, his golden-and-blue abnormal pupils full of impatience. When their eyes met, the cat ears buried in his white hair twitched one left and one right, and he arrogantly lifted his chin at her.

Because of Mo Jiao’s sudden approach just now, Xiao Jinsheng had retreated, inadvertently narrowing the already short distance between herself and Que Zelian to just the width of a fist.

Que Zelian placed one hand on her lower back and another on her arm, leaning down to express concern: "What’s the matter?"

Xiao Jinsheng raised a hand to cover her eyes, shaking her head: "It’s nothing—I think I’m getting elevator motion sickness."

She regretted everything.

She vowed never again to read elevator fiction filled with teasing that only led to excessive tension.

Now, surrounded by five men, no matter where she looked, those little spicy scenes she’d once enjoyed reading rushed to fill her mind.

"I told you to take the stairs," Yu Yunxiao noted from the side.

Que Zelian’s hand, originally resting on Xiao Jinsheng’s lower back, slid forward to her abdomen, pulling her snugly into his embrace: "We’ll be there soon. If you’re really feeling sick, lean on me for a bit."

"Mm," Xiao Jinsheng mumbled softly.

She covered her face with both hands, unwilling to let them see the uncontrollable expressions she was currently making.

In her nineteen years of life and countless elevator rides, none had ever been as excruciating as this.

Fortunately, their destination was the third floor, with no stops or new passengers on the way. The ride was swift.

In the trading market, all goods were consigned under the terminal’s name.

When purchases were made, the terminal handled the crystal core transactions, deducting a five percent fee. Because of this, the market items were organized like a supermarket—neatly categorized—with no need for staff.

Under terminal surveillance, it was impossible for anyone to sneak anything out.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, Xiao Jinsheng was the first to step out.

When she saw the closed market filled with goods on the third floor, resembling a pre-apocalypse department store, her eyes lit up.

She rushed to grab a shopping cart at the entrance, her cheeks flushing with excitement as she exclaimed, "We’re going on a shopping spree this time!"

"It’s just buying stuff. Is there really any need to be this excited?" Yu Yunxiao watched her with furrowed brows, his cat ears drooping in confusion.

"Stop standing around—you each grab a cart, quickly!" These five men were free laborers, and Xiao Jinsheng naturally wouldn’t let them idle.

Each pushing a cart, Xiao Jinsheng led the charge, tossing whatever she liked into her cart.

The trading market was crowded, mostly filled with one female accompanied by two or three Beast Husbands.

To save time, Xiao Jinsheng assigned the five men to split up and shop.

She pushed her cart through the aisles, ending up walking alongside Yu Yunxiao.

Noticing a cat teaser wand on the shelf, she glanced at Yu Yunxiao, who was picking out canned fruits, and picked it up to approach him.

As the feathered wand came into his line of sight, Yu Yunxiao instinctively reached for the feathers instead of the canned fruit he had intended to grab.

Holding the delicate feathers in his palm, he suddenly heard her suppressed laughter.

Turning his head, he saw Xiao Jinsheng gleefully holding the cat teaser wand.

Yu Yunxiao quickly let go and backed away a step: "Sneaky! What are you trying to do?"

"I didn’t think this would actually work on you!" Xiao Jinsheng exclaimed in surprise.

After all, Beastmen weren’t exactly Beastmen, and not entirely animals either.

Initially, she’d just thought Yu Yunxiao had a pair of attractive, tempting-to-touch cat ears.

She hadn’t expected him to have kitten-like tendencies, too.

"I don’t play with that. Take it away," Yu Yunxiao said, his ears flushing red.

"Alright, alright," Xiao Jinsheng said, putting the wand down—into her cart, of course.

Taking a step forward, she lifted a finger to lightly scratch under Yu Yunxiao’s chin and asked with a playful smile, "How about this—do you enjoy it?"

Yu Yunxiao instinctively tilted his head, closing his eyes at the sensation—then quickly realized what was happening. He grabbed her wrist and looked at her warily: "Why are you so full of bad intentions?"

"We’re here to shop—stop messing around," Yu Yunxiao warned, his face flushed.

"Then let me touch your cat ears," Xiao Jinsheng tilted her head pitifully, looking up at him: "I’ve never touched cat ears attached to a guy six feet tall with an eight-pack before."

"Are you really after my cat ears? I could expose your true motives," Yu Yunxiao retorted, his face more crimson than a paint swatch.
