Chapter 208: BRIGHT FLOWER’S DAY OUT

Chapter 208: BRIGHT FLOWER’S DAY OUT

[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: NIGHTMARE ~ KYURI]

Morning at the merchant’s inn was a normal day for every other person except Axilla. No matter how much she tried, the kissing scene wouldn’t leave her mind. When she looked in the mirror, she noticed a part that looked nipped, and her mind went back to when Cortez bit her lips playfully.

Blood rushed up to her slender neck as colors of blush flushed on her cheeks.

"Get your act together," Axilla scolded herself in a low voice. She wondered how she was supposed to look with Cortez after they had shared a long kiss. Axilla remembered the feeling of Cortez’s tongue rubbing on her own.

"Ah!" She gasped, slapping her face gently. "That man would be the end of me. How am I supposed to measure my dress like this?" Axilla exclaimed.

After a long orientation she gave to herself, Axilla finally stepped out of the room, ready to see Cortez’s face. She decided to avoid his eyes for the time being and maybe request that Kayla escorts her to fit her dress. Axilla nodded at her perfect plan. She was going to do just grea-

"Good morning, my bright flower." Axilla gulped the invisible ball that was stuck in her throat when she heard the playful voice of Cortez. Without warning her heart started beating like she was faced with danger, this time it was the danger she loved so much.

"Everything okay? What has got you red, Axilla?" Cortez asked worriedly, "Did you perhaps catch cold after last night?" he walked to close the distance between them, as his hand moved to touch Axilla’s forehead.

Axilla stepped back, avoiding any contact with Cortez which would definitely spark something else within her. "I’m fine, very fine. The morning is a little too cold."

"What a hot morning! I should rip this dress out of my body," Kayla’s voice was heard as she passed the corridor fanning herself with a weaved paper handfan.

Axilla gritted her teeth; Kayla never helped her situation. Knowingly or unknowingly that girl just never helped her situation. Axilla raised her face shyly, tucking her hair behind her ear she pressed her lips and said, "I had my bath with cold water, that’s why," she said to Cortez who was now looking at her with his eyes narrowed.

Cortez nodded his head as if he believed her words, he pointed outside the inn, "The carriage is ready; we can now go to fit your dress."

"Um...about that, Can I not go with you, C-chief Cortez?" Axilla stammered, keeping her eyes anywhere that didn’t have to make her look into Cortez’s eyes.

Cortez frowned a little, "Chief Cortez? I thought we moved things up a little bit last night. Did you forget already or you need me to remind you? Was it not enough?" he grinned mischievously.

Axilla waved her hands dismissively like a trader waving for customers; being reminded of what happened between them last night made her cheeks turn to overripe tomatoes.

"No, not that. I am feeling shy, so I..I don’t know how to act around you."

Cortez hummed understandingly, "That’s great; we should spend more time together until you get used to it. I don’t want you fainting on me when we are hav-"

Axilla’s hands worked faster than her brain because she used them to cover Cortez’s lips afraid of what he might say next when she realized her action she was already leaning on Cortez’s chest with his hands on her waist.

"P-please don’t say anything again; let’s go," Axilla pleaded with her eyes, and when she received a nod from Cortez, she let go of his mouth and stepped back adjusting her dress properly she bowed.

"I’m sorry that my actions weren’t ladylike." Saying this, she ran out of the place and entered the carriage praying that something invisible would swallow her up, but it didn’t happen. Few minutes later, Axilla was in front of the tailor’s shop.

"Welcome Master Cortez," A middle-aged woman rushed out of the shop to greet Cortez.

Axilla couldn’t help but notice that the man was quite popular anywhere he went to. She stood at the side, with her hands clutching her dress; their ride in the carriage had been a silent one. It was as if Cortez pitied her, and he decided to take things slow. Axilla smiled at the thought.

"Madame Delia, how do you do?" Cortez asked, taking the woman’s hand; he dropped a small kiss like a gentleman.

The woman, who Axilla presumed to be the owner of the shop, held her chest as she watched Cortez treat her like a lady, "How do you do?" She greeted back with a big smile that almost reached her ears. It was evident the woman was smitten by Cortez just like other younger women.

"I brought someone; do you have something that might suit the fair lady? Come over, Axilla dear," Cortez motioned for Axilla to come stand beside him.

Madame Delia took in the young girl’s appearance, "You bet we do. Let’s take this inside, shall we?" The woman pulled the door, ushering them inside.

Axilla’s mouth was left hanging when she entered the tailor’s shop; it was very big with numerous seamstresses at each stand bent with seriousness performing their job diligently. A lot of noblewomen stood close to the tailors who were getting their dresses ready. Axilla felt so small in the big shop; she couldn’t help but look around the golden-hued room filled with dresses and people. It was a beautiful sight to behold.

"Master Cortez, I never imagined you would bring a woman one day. You always come here to sell the best materials to me," Madame Delia said, offering them a cup of tea and cookies which Cortez accepted.

"Well, let’s say it happened. Get my lady measured and bring your best materials let’s make a pick," Cortez said, cutting the discussion short. He knew the woman was trying to dig up in his personal life; with his leg crossed on the other, he chewed on his cookie.

Axilla sat on the couch, with her leg closed together blushed when she heard Cortez refer to her as ’his’ lady. For some reason it felt like eyes were now on her, and it made her conscious, and she wondered if it was because she sat close to Cortez.

"Nala, come have this lady measured for a dress," Madame Delia called her assistants.

Axilla was led to a room for her measurement to be taken; there she heard whispers of some ladies.

"She must be feeling important because Cortez brought her here right?" One the women who had her lips painted with an annoying red lip gloss said.

"Of course, look at her hands; she’s someone of low class. Who knows what she did to get Cortez wrapped round her fingers. I fear these low class women, they are very tenacious!" Another remarked with a shudder.

The one with the annoying red lip gloss scoffed, "Cortez would never forget his first love no matter how much she spreads her legs."

Axilla, who had been enduring the words of these women, couldn’t take it anymore; she said to them, "Who are you to say that about me?"

"Maybe someone who can pay you to strip since you enjoy spreading your legs to any man you see."

Again, the second time today, Axilla’s hands functioned first before her brain, and she left a mark imprinting slap on the woman’s smooth face.

The seamstress who was supposed to measure Axilla ran out to report, shock written all over her face.

"Master Cortez, the lady you brought is in a fight!."
