Kitanna -
Chapter 120: WHITE LORD’S FURY
Chapter 120: WHITE LORD’S FURY
[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: THUNDEROUS ~ STRAY KIDS]
Nix didn’t halt even after leaving the room. He walked straight to his own quarters, his sharp and precise footsteps echoing along the corridors. The palace servants, who knew how annoyed he was since morning, dared not be found in his way.
For some reason, the man exuded too much authority, leaving everyone suppressed. It was surprising because he had been in the palace for many years, yes he was peculiar and different physically but nobody really knew he could control so much power because the man stayed dormant serving behind the queen dowager and always staying on his own.
Now, if any servant of the royal family were asked who was in charge of the palace affairs, they would point at the silver-haired man whose mere presence controlled power itself. He acted like a king, even
Nix felt frustrated; he had lost his father when he was young, and now, despite being capable of fighting for his kingdom, the princess was in a coma because he let his guard down. Clenching his fist in anger upon entering his room, his blue eyes raged with frustration. His fit connected with the wall leaving a dent on it. What if he had been a minute late? Kitanna had waited for him the whole midnight, and he wasn’t there. He couldn’t imagine the pain Kitanna must have passed through.
When his woman needed him the most he was not there, and now he was supposed to make up and give his blood. It was denied of him. Nix grabbed the jar that contained wine to quench his anger.
Nix?" Hieron stepped inside the room, he noticed the wine jar which Nix was holding was not even steady, if he held it any lose than it already was, the jar would crash. But that was evident of how pissed of the young man was.
"What’s the meaning of what you said back there, Lord Hieron?" Nix’s voice no longer bore the amusement he held when talking to his grandfather. He sounded formal almost like they were strangers, but Hieron didn’t take offense in it. He knew Nix was just angry.
"Our blood is cursed, just like the people say. We can’t give it to someone else." The elderly man tried to reason with his grandson.
Nix narrowed his eyes, "What do you mean by that? What about the women who gave birth to....." He trailed off when he realized it. None of the women were alive, both his birth mother and his grandmother. Reality dawned on him.
"That is the curse, Nix. The women who dared to love us and bore our children never made it out. Where the blood is a blessing that we can never die by poison, the women who carry our bloodline..." Hieron didn’t complete the statement, because the jar Nix held crumbled into pieces, as if it was sand he was holding all along.
"Fuck!" Nix cursed under his breath. He was going to love one person only to be the cayse of her demise?
Hieron scratched his brows lightly he was not offended with the curse word. The old man was looking at the remnants of the alcohol that now dripped his grandson’s hands mixed with blood. He picked up a fabric and closed the distance between them.
"I am happy that you’ve found your other half but..... it’s our fate." The old man wrapped his grandson’s hand gently. If he knew that Nix would be so attached to the princess he would have rejected the betrothment that took place years ago. But with the look of things, his grandson was far too attached to the princess. Any attempt to separate them he’d only reign hell on them.
Nix looked at his hands after it was being wrapped, "I choose my fate. Kitanna will have my children and she won’t be going anywhere I’ll see to that."
"Nix is..." Hieron started only to be cut short.
"Lord Hieron, I’ll be going to investigate the case; you should rest now. You’ve had a long day." Nix interjected. He left his old man alone, who now stood there looking perplexed as to when did he grown to commands to him as he pleased.
Nix walked toward the prison where the maid that tried to escape was now held. The guards there were almost a legion, fully armored for one person. Nix still had punishment to dish out to many, starting with the palace guards who were not vigilant enough, but he kept it aside. First things first.
Chantal ran towards Nix’s direction, "Lord Nix, the woman is now awake," he informed.
Nix entered the royal prison, he stopped in his steps and said to Chantal, "Bring Khelan here." He ordered, and without waiting to inhale, Chantal disappeared to carry out the order, not wanting to be at the receiving end of the white Lord’s burning fury.
Misam struggled with the chain used to hold her hands. The usual calm composure she held was gone as she tried to free herself. "Let me go!!! I didn’t do anything," she shouted, gritting her teeth in hate for the princess.
She had almost seen her freedom until that maniac of a princess came to stop her.
Nix stood in front of the cell that held Misam, his eyes trailing to look at the young woman. He had never had any encounter with her or a moment of discussion, which was why he never put her into the records of suspects.
"Tell the princess to let me go!" Misam shouted as soon as she saw Nix. "I didn’t do anything!" She screamed.
"Are you sure about that?" Nix’s voice was calm, but there was something icy about it, that kept people on their toes. Misam’s voice reduced, as she recoiled inside her cell room.
"You’ll be charged with attempted murder on the royal seed, coupled with the murder of the former head maid, escaping the prison and also opened investigation on what you did to the princess years ago. I’m not looking forward to reducing your punishment, but the faster you tell me the person who had helped you escape, the better for your tendons." Nix remarked casually.
Misam’s eyes widened in fear, stepping away from the guard who used to look level-headed until now. "Y... you can’t ...you can’t torture me..." She mumbled, but the eyes that looked at her had no hidden amusement in them. The man was dead serious.
"Try me..." Nix deadpanned, unlocking the cell room.
"Leave him alone; he did nothing," Misam was saved by the noise erupting outside the prison.
Bareea was causing a ruckus when guards came to drag Khelan away. She decided to play the role of a supportive wife and help him out, leaving her son behind. The guards had no choice but to drag her along.
Nix turned properly to look at the new arrivals, "I only asked for Khelan." His words directed at Chantal.
Bareea felt her cheeks warm when she saw Nix. She cleared her throat and moved to speak. "Lord Nix, they came to..."
"I wasn’t talking to you..." Nix interjected, his voice slightly irritated. He arched his brow at Chantal.
"Lord Nix, we dragged just him, but she decided to tag along." Chantal pointed at Bareea.
The woman fumed at how Nix had belittled her, even making her look stupid in front of everyone. "I didn’t decide to tag along. I’m protecting my husband!" She stomped.
Nix scratched the corner of his eyes slightly, not in the mood for child’s play. He motioned for the guards to chain Khelan in the cell room close to Misam’s.
Bareea tried to stop them, but the next words she heard from Nix made her jaw drop in shame.
"You, protecting another woman’s husband shamelessly. You have all the days of your life to be stupid; take today off." Nix waved for her to be dragged outside.
The guards inside the prison, who heard what Nix said to the concubine, had second-hand embarrassment for her. The woman who was screaming before stood like a cat stole her tongue. She didn’t allow anyone to come close to her, bolting out of the prison in shame. Bareea couldn’t believe that the man she used to love spoke to her in such a manner.
Nix sighed when the prison was now free of unwanted bugs. He turned to look at both Khelan and Misam.
"Let’s start with you. What happened on the day Lady Aggie died?" Nix pointed at Misam.
