Chapter 119: WHAT WAS SAID?

[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: YOURS~ CHANYEOL FEAT LEE HI, CHANGMO]

Nix lifted Kitanna gently, making her rest on his chest. The way he held her tenderly like she would combust and disappear anytime soon. He removed Misam’s hands that still held the knife to Kitanna’s stomach, when Kitanna saw Nix she let go of her own sword that was round Misam’s neck.

Nix knew that carrying the princess back to the palace would only endanger her life, so he used the emergency medical tools that the guards kept at the side. He first removed the knife, then he used a clothing to stop the blood that was now soaking her thin fabric. Kitanna’s body was so cold, her lips were now turned blue looking frozen due to the cold.

Nix removed his jacket and covered her properly, he beckoned on the guard who was also a trained physician to come and take a look at the wound. But he didn’t stand up, he continued to sit beside Kitanna, carcassing her hair gently and cleaning off the sand on her body while the physician treated her.

"Lord Nix, she has passed the critical stage, you can take her back to the palace so the royal physician can now attend to her." The man said after he was done closing up the wound and stopping the bleeding.

Nix didn’t reply, he turned to look at the maid who was lying unconscious on the floor, " Also get her treated. Chantal bring her back home. The rest of you, scout this area and see if you’ll find something." Nix picked up the fragile princess, who always attracted trouble, sand and metal. He thought of how his heart was pounding the whole time he wasn’t aware where the princess was. The last time Nix had felt such emotions was when the soldiers returned with his father wrapped in a cloth. He was so afraid and after that he locked up his heart in a cold asylum. He didn’t know that this brown doe eyed woman would bring those emotions out of him.

Nix first placed Kitanna on the horse, then he mounted the horse. He made her sit a straddling position facing him, then he used his free hand which wasn’t holding the horse rein, to hold her head that was now placed on his chest. He moved slowly so the wound won’t be open again.

Hieron followed his grandson behind, the emotions he saw Nix display. Irrationality, fear, extreme anger was something new to him. After the harsh way his father was torn away from him, the boy did not behave like a child again. He became cold and aloof, keeping his thoughts only to himself and he didn’t bother to associate himself with people. All he wanted was to get revenge on the people that took his father’s life in a cruel manner.

But few minutes of Nix not knowing where the princess was, he had gone berserk ready to slit anyone’s throat. Hieron sighed, he didn’t know if it was a good thing that Nix now cared about someone or if it was a bad thing because if anything should happen to the princess, his grandson would be consumed by rage which only blood can quench.

Getting to the place, Nix summoned the royal physician, but he first made sure they stayed outside while he cleaned up Kitanna changing her dress to something more suitable than the thin nightwear. He soaked a piece in water and cleaned her skin gently until it was void of blood and sand. Before he allowed the royal physician and his assistants to come in

Hieron didn’t stay back he followed them inside, until the princess was awake he need to stand beside his grandson. Atleast moral support.

Larel who heard when the horses returned to the palace followed them behind, she saw the princess being carried by her personal guard. The princess was unconscious.

Larel joined them in the room, she didn’t want to be noticed but she wanted to make sure Kitanna was alright.

After the royal physician was done checking Kitanna’s pulse and the wound he said to the onlookers,

"The princess is fine, the immediate treatment that was given to her really helped. But she lost quite a lot of blood so she needs a blood transfusion." The royal physician who was an elderly man spoke calmly.

Nix rolled his sleeves revealing his muscular forearm that had veins popping out. "Take as much as you want. Drain me just make she’s awake." His words were cold, his voice very low.

The royal physician moved back, his eyes looking at the princess then the man who wanted to offer his blood. Then he stuttered, "T-the blood...is...I can’t"

"What do you mean you can’t" Nix growled, his eyes narrowed at the way the man was looking at him like he was some kind of monster. But that didn’t bother Nix.

Hieron decided to step up to the physician’s rescue because with the way things were going his grandson was ready to melt the man’s body with his intense gaze.

"Nix, we can’t give our blood. It’ll kill her, if you don’t want to harm her. Then don’t give her your blood."

Nix furrowed his brows at his grandfather’s words, "She’s still going to have my children what’s the difference giving her my blood now."

The people in the room who heard these words from Nix were shocked but the pretended not to hear anything. The continued to stare at the ground, acting like nothing was said.

Hieron nodded, "Let’s talk about it later. But for now get a blood that she can use."

Larel bit her lips, she didn’t know if her help would be accepted but she wanted to try anyways. "I-- ehmm..I can give her mine....if you don’t mind."

Nix and Hieron turned to look at he young woman they didn’t notice until now. They had been so engrossed in Kitanna’s health that the didn’t even know Larel was in the room.

"I need to check it first, " the royal physician said looking at Nix. But Nix threw his face to the other side what his grandfather had said got him worried.

Hieron nodded for the physician to check Larel’s blood and the man quickly went to stand beside Larel with his assistants providing the tools he needed. When he was done he said,

"She can give her blood." The man announced.

Nix looked at where Kitanna laid like she was sleeping peacefully. He wanted her to be awake and ask a lot of questions, he wanted to reprimand her for acting on her own. But she just laid there like she was having a nap. He turned towards Larel’s position, who was rolling her sleeves so that her blood can be given to Kitanna.

"Don’t try anything funny" Nix’s words were directed to Larel but the physician and his assistants bowed including Larel.

Nix turned to his grandfather, "We need to talk." He stepped out of the room.

Hieron before leaving said in a tone of warning to the four persons in the room, that is Larel, the royal physician and his two assistants.

"You heard nothing in this room today. If anything that was said here today leaves this room, then you’ll find your heads in the scaffold. Guards will be positioned at the door posts you’ll be checked before you leave this room." The elderly man left to meet his grandson they had a lot to talk about.

Now all alone in the room, Larel sat close to Kitanna’s bed as her own blood moved into the princess’s veins. It felt like an honour to Larel, to be able to prove her loyalty to the princess.

But the words she heard from Kitanna’s personal guard still rang in her head,

’She’s still going to have my children, what’s the difference giving her my blood now.’
