Chapter 784: Chapter 354 Boss Acrobat
During the preparation, Maya interrogated the manager, focusing on one key question: Which floor had the most NPCs? Together with the manager, the Shadow Squad had completed the 30-person rescue mission, and rescuing another 20 would activate the final boss of the dungeon. If the Shadow Squad, with its current armament, couldn’t take down the final boss, then no one could. Nowadays, the Shadow squad counted bullets by the thousands; if that wasn’t enough, they could always return to the 17th floor to farm mercenaries.
Is farming mercenaries dangerous? No problem, just carry the injured to the 32nd floor and toss them down.
Universal Shana synthesized the information: The 4th floor had an arms dealer with a massive amount of weapon info. The 2nd floor had Night Demons, the NPCs were slightly wealthier, making it worthwhile to loot. The 3rd floor was for staff, and it was poor.
After synthesizing the information, except for the pleasant surprise of an arms dealer on the 4th floor and the ability to farm guns and bullets on the 17th, no other floors offered any surprises.
After some discussion, everyone agreed that they shouldn’t reset the dungeon too early, as no one could guarantee that the 4th-floor dealer wouldn’t be refreshed elsewhere. As for farming guns on the 17th floor, they didn’t need to reset to do so. The Fortress mercenaries kept reinforcing the 17th floor continuously; the key was to lure them in order to get their weapons and ammunition after killing them.
The current target was the 22nd floor. It was one of the hotel’s VIP levels, boasting the most luxurious rooms in the entire hotel. According to the intel, there were only ten rooms on this floor, all of them suites. There were the Presidential Suite, CEO Suite, Business Suite, Queen Suite, and so on. Even the smallest Business Suite was 200 square meters large, while the Presidential Suite spanned an impressive 800 square meters.
On the 22nd floor, there was also a small self-service restaurant specifically for accompanying personnel, a leisure café, and a fruit bar. From the architectural diagram, the 22nd floor had the most complex layout. Overall, it looked like the character for "abundance," with two elevators reaching the middle horizontal bar on the left of the abundance shape, the self-service restaurant at the top, and the café and fruit bar at the bottom. The ten suites were located above and below the three horizontal bars.
The layout was generally abundance-shaped, but actually had curves. Shana seemed rather knowledgeable, explaining to everyone using the blueprints that the floor’s design balanced privacy and quietness. Simply put, it was tough for gunshots to draw corridor zombies. Furthermore, she was convinced that all the suites had excellent soundproofing, necessitating individual clearing. The biggest problem was that the VIPs might have armed bodyguards.
This meant the Shadow Squad had to fight not only zombies but possibly bodyguards too. If they accidentally killed a VIP, who would they rob? Additionally, you might endure being bitten by a zombie; if a bodyguard offered you a plate of peanuts, nobody could withstand that.
"We must analyze the specific circumstances," Maya planned the attack route and asked, "Any questions? Good, let’s go."
...
The situation on the 22nd floor wasn’t as complicated as Shana had imagined, it was just that everyone overthought Dawn. The elevator doors opened to a horde of zombies, followed by a continuous minute of gunfire. Shana’s face was slapped silly as the gunfire attracted all zombies from the hallways and open areas. The only slight challenge was the abundance of Frenzies, with no Titans; Maya got injured and infected.
After the battle, facing Lin Wu’s schadenfreude with raised eyebrows, Maya kicked him, collected the trash on the scene, and went upstairs with Snow Egg to jump off the building. Thirty minutes later, Snow Egg and a healed Maya returned to the 22nd floor, bringing explosive news: "Su Shi has already rolled four assault rifles."
"Oh," everyone was indifferent to the news. The only exception was Lin Wu, who discovered the highlight: "Isn’t Stone going to go crazy?"
Maya nodded without saying much, but Stone’s frustrated demeanor was still amusing to her now. However, she wasn’t good at describing or exaggerating, nor did she like talking about things unrelated to work, so she breezed past the highlight.
Maya arranged for Snow Egg to watch the elevator, while Little Knife, who was good at close combat, joined the search.
The 22nd floor was a game of hide-and-seek; there were just too many places to hide, not only because of the facilities provided by the hotel but because the VIPs brought their own setups. Upon entering the first suite, everyone was dumbfounded to find a forty-square-meter tent in the luxurious living room.
That’s when Universal Shana began to tell a story about how on Earth there was a nation very rich due to oil. Many people from this nation preferred living in tents, and thus when traveling or going abroad, they would bring a set of tents, and even camels. Lin Wu naively asked if airplanes allowed that; Shana responded that they had plenty of private jets.
While chitchatting, Little Knife shouted and stomped a zombie to death that was sleeping behind a piano. Why wasn’t the zombie awakened by all the noise? It was awake, but before mutating, it had been a deaf and mute zombie. Whether you liked it or not, that was Dawn’s explanation.
Maya tapped her headset, and Lin Wu and Shana entered the attendant’s room, reaching near the bathroom. Lin Wu raised his gun close to the shower curtain, and Maya suddenly yanked down the curtain, revealing two veiled people hugging each other and shivering in the bathtub. Lin Wu was seeing this attire for the first time, with only a pair of eyes visible, and asked, "Is this a cult?"
"Don’t know."
Maya peeked under the veil, seeing a mosaic inside, and said, "Little Knife, come handle this, send them away."
"Coming." Little Knife arrived and asked, "How do we handle this? Kill them?"
Lin Wu, disgusted by the incompetence, said, "We’re robbing them, dummy."
"You’re the dummy." As Little Knife began, if she encountered resistance, she would knock them out with a punch. Then, she kept exclaiming in astonishment, "Wow, wow..."
Lin Wu peeked over, seeing a pile of gold on the floor. No wonder they were afraid to show their wealth; they were indeed hiding their riches. Shana also came over to join in, picking up a woman’s watch, "Guess how much this watch costs?"
