Chapter 505: Chapter 255: Tugboat_3
Seeing the hastiness of the Apocalypse’s arrival and departure, the Shadow Group was filled with curiosity. Upon learning from Stone that the Apocalypse people had acquired a boat, they all expressed a desire to visit.
When they arrived at the Doomsday Fortress, Maya and the others were placing landing planks. First, they secured the planks to the sloped surface of the sea dike road with ropes, then they secured the tires on top of the planks. Although it was makeshift and the materials were just ropes and wood, it looked functional. At least now the tugboat didn’t produce that nauseating noise of metal scraping against rocks.
After the Shadow Group drove to the sea dike road, the first thing they saw was the busy Apocalypse People and the tugboat. Before they could marvel, they saw the armored vehicle. Stone and Horse Soul exclaimed in unison, "Armored vehicle!"
Driver Stone pressed the gas pedal and drove past the Apocalypse People. He really didn’t understand these guys; having an armored vehicle, why would they even need a lousy boat.
Caressing the icy cold steel and gazing at the military green camouflaged beast, Horse Soul and Stone couldn’t stop singing its praises. Shana and Starlight who came along in the vehicle just stood by, "Aren’t you going to help?"
"Shh." Stone glanced at the still busy Apocalypse People, quietly pulled open the car door and climbed onto the driver’s seat of the armored vehicle, Horse Soul understood and immediately followed, taking the passenger seat.
Stone didn’t start the vehicle, but instead slapped the steering wheel in frustration, "No fuel."
Left with no choice, Stone and Horse Soul got out of the vehicle and, along with Shana and Starlight, went to lend a hand to the Apocalypse People. By then, the Apocalypse People had finished their work and set up the tugboat properly. Stone put his arm around Lin Wu, who had just come ashore, and led him aside, whispering, "Name your price."
"What?"
"I want to get the armored vehicle to the Sawmill."
"What do you have?"
"Two hundred catties of meat."
"Your meat."
"Mhm."
"Go to hell."
"I’ll get myself a tank later, believe it or not?" Stone said gently, "You lend me the armored vehicle today, and I’ll give you a tank tomorrow."
"Why don’t you say a fighter jet? Since we’re dreaming big, might as well dream bigger." Lin Wu was not buying it at all.
Amid the noise and ruckus, Maya led some people to drink tea on the second floor, but Starlight and Peanut stayed by the shore discussing the tugboat. It was clear that Starlight liked this boat very much. To her, this tugboat was as cute and exquisite as a miniature car.
When Peanut learned that Starlight was a certified captain and also had a yacht pilot license, she kept asking Starlight about driving issues. Starlight was very enthusiastic, inviting Peanut to join her in the cockpit, answering each question in detail.
...
Stone, seeing the sports car, could usually control himself and just fantasize, but not today. Drinking only half his tea, he deliberately interrupted three conversations to always steer them back to the armored vehicle. In his heart, he was even considering the possibility of transferring to the construction of a farm at the Doomsday Castle.
Lin Wu certainly liked the armored vehicle, but that was about it. Seeing Stone’s genuine fondness for it and being pestered by him incessantly, he waved his hand, "Take it, take it."
Stone didn’t wait for Maya to speak, "Thank you, thank you all," he said, shaking hands with everyone.
Maya had no objections to Lin Wu’s decision. Her reason for liking the armored vehicle was its performance and combat capabilities, but due to the vehicle’s hefty fuel consumption, she had already lost a certain interest in it.
A fuel consumption of sixty liters per hundred kilometers referred to driving on flat ground. If taken out for a spin crushing zombies, reversing and moving forward repeatedly, it would not go anywhere with less than 150 liters. Moreover, due to its large size, the armored vehicle was not suitable for intermingling in the complex traffic of residential areas and was therefore outside her tactical considerations.
