After observing, Lin Wu waited silently, as Frenzy entered the room and was swiftly dealt with by his blade. Setting his own pace, Lin Wu first cleared all the zombies inside the room. He seemed impressive, yet in reality, Maya’s Repeating Crossbow was several times more efficient than Lin Wu.

Exiting the room, Lin Wu found himself in a hallway with a sitting area and a bar, seemingly a place to rest. While continuing to kill, he made his way to a fire evacuation map and located the staircase.

Following the staircase, Lin Wu reached the first basement level, an easy stretch for him. However, there was no staircase continuing downward from the first basement level; examining the layout inside the fire door, Lin Wu found the descending stairs to the north.

It was a nondescript underground office parking lot with few zombies. Lin Wu easily reached the stairwell entrance, which had a door that wasn’t locked. Gently pushing the door, Lin Wu wished he could plug his own ears when the door, which hadn’t been opened for days, creaked loudly. Fortunately, the nearby zombies had been cleared, and Lin Wu opened the door even more slowly.

Upon opening the door, a descending flight of stairs appeared. With no lights, Lin Wu could only see eight steps, the rest engulfed in darkness. He took out a headlamp from his backpack, put it on, and switched it on, only to see more descending steps stretching down, visible up to 20 meters away; beyond that, presumably more steps, though unseen. Despite no sign of zombies, the place was filled with an endless sense of eeriness.

"Weird," Lin Wu recounted his situation.

Maya asked, "The Penrose Stairs?"

Peanut said, "I’ve seen a program before about various strange shelters on Earth that mentioned a place like that. An explorer wearing a camera walked down for half an hour before reaching the bottom, where there were a bar, wine cellars, guest rooms, and even some furniture.
