Chapter 381: Chapter 207: Treasure Hunting
The first to take the stage was Peanut Cinema. Initially, Peanut explained the entertainment values of the movie theater in all seriousness but soon started lewdly educating everyone on the 21st-century movie rating system. In principle, in countries with a rating system, all movies can be shown, but due to varying content, audiences are restricted accordingly. The subtext was clear to everyone except Little Knife, and this was evident when people started throwing trash at Peanut.
Of course, Little Knife threw something too, even though she didn’t understand why.
Snow Egg represented Little Knife and made it clear from the start that this was a game of positive energy that must not be tainted by certain people. Even if the law allowed it and the facts were true, such things could not exist here. Then Snow Egg began to sell the idea of hot springs, focusing on relaxation for the mind and body, casually bringing up coffee and tea culture in an effort to score points for the hot springs.
Su Shi showcased the allure of the beach as a leisure area, where one could surf, swim, sunbathe, or just lie on the sand and do nothing. Clearly, he was angling for Lin Wu’s vote. Snow Egg asked if there were any creatures in the sea and if it was possible to go sea foraging. Is the bay bigger than a swimming pool? A barrage of questions caught Su Shi off guard.
Using knowledge as a bond, Maya explained that people need the nurturing of knowledge and the irrigation of culture. Since Maya was short on words, Lin Wu stepped in to provide examples on the fly. The cultured person sees a waterfall and thinks: "A thousand feet as the crow flies," whereas the uncultured person sees a waterfall and thinks: "Wow, a torn cloth." Everyone approved of Lin Wu’s examples and applauded.
Shana linked tennis to love, vigorously pulling in votes from Little Knife and Snow Egg. Blue Star’s various regions have different cultural ideas—some people consider eating, drinking, and playing as entertainment. Some believe sports are entertainment. Some think staying home is entertaining. Some believe love is the best entertainment. And people like Stone like to wash their feet and sing.
Lin Wu believed that eating was the true entertainment, but since there was no such proposal, he thought all the others were fine.
Finally, Horse Soul gave the most lackluster speech, questioning the need for a shooting range when there were plenty of zombies outside, and the sentry post was always vacant.
After the speeches, everyone scored the six projects. Stone tallied the votes and announced, "Everyone strives to be good youths, so the movie theater has ranked lowest with 0 points."
The crowd applauded, showing appreciation for the moral integrity of the others.
Stone continued, "Third place goes to the training room."
Maya sighed resignedly, accepting the result.
Stone said, "Second place goes to the hot springs with a total of 2.5 points."
Lin Wu sought credit, "Little Knife, I gave you 0.6 points."
Little Knife nodded with feigned distress, sensing something was amiss. Huh? She turned to look at Snow Egg beside her, who was sweating like a Lushan waterfall: "Who’s in first place?"
"Yo!" Everyone who loved a spectacle joined in the commotion, and Horse Soul chimed in, "I gave 0.1 point to the hot springs."
Shana said, "I gave 0.1 too."
Snow Egg laughed heartily, "You guys are such jokers. Stone, who’s in first place?"
Little Knife cocked her head to one side, "Hmph."
Stone declared, "First place goes to the beach, rich in fish and shellfish resources, with a high score of 4.5."
Applause followed, as the beach as a recreational area was relatively acceptable.
Stone added, "Whether you’ll be able to eat fish in the future depends on all of you now."
There were several types of beaches, and Resource Beach, as Stone referred to, fell under the category of production buildings like ranches and farms. It took up a large tile and required the most materials. The beach that Su Shi proposed was a leisure beach, a small tile, suitable for surfing, diving, sunbathing, and swimming.
Su Shi immediately protested, "I meant the small-tile beach."
Stone replied, "You didn’t specify." Resource Beach doesn’t provide surfboards, sailboats, diving gear, or beach chairs, nor does it offer free drinks.
Before this, a beach building unit didn’t exist in the game. As the game reached its third quarter, due to the characteristics of winter, many players developed mental issues, leading to a significant number being forcibly removed from the game for recuperation. This prompted Dawn to introduce the beach building, with the small-tile beach being purely a welfare leisure construction.
Lin Wu casually said, "Su Shi, you’re an engineer; you can make the equipment yourself."
Stone agreed, "Right, fishing is also an entertainment activity."
"Psh!" The crowd responded disdainfully. Fishing in the sea and fishing in the sea for survival were two entirely different things.
The other projects scored very low, indirectly indicating the general opposition to building those facilities. After Stone diplomatically pointed this out, everyone could accept the decision for Resource Beach.
Besides needing a lot of building materials, Resource Beach also required ten types of sea products, with no restrictions on whether they’re alive, dead, dry, or wet. Seaweed works, pearl necklaces work—basically, there were no problems.
After eating and drinking, Stone went on duty, and everyone else went to sleep. Snow Egg would be on duty the next day, while the other seven would set out at 7 AM for the Left County Hotel to undertake the 34th-floor mission.
...
The next day, on the way to the Left County Hotel, there was a minor incident. In Sewer No. 99, Peanut and Horse Soul disregarded discipline and were reprimanded by Maya, leaving them both somewhat embarrassed. Meanwhile, Lin Wu, the mischievous one, had always abided by the rules set by Maya, remaining as silent as possible and being vigilant at every junction they passed. Maybe it was the experience Lin Wu had accumulated from countless ambushes. However, Lin Wu had never been one to break the rules—if he had an opinion about them, he would speak up; if not, he would follow them.
He’s lazy, he’s casual, but he’s earnest and serious about his principles.
