Chapter 354: Chapter 196: Secret Chamber_3
Lin Wu looked around: "Where are the zombies?" He looked at Maya.
Maya felt guilty and didn’t know how to respond.
Peanut tried to cover his own confusion with suspicion, asking, "You can’t see them?"
Lin Wu looked at Maya in surprise. Were there zombies? Could a concussion cause selective blindness?
After a long pause, Maya said, "Let’s go quickly, you need treatment."
Lin Wu reluctantly looked up at the rooftop and, together with Maya, hoisted the pork and retreated smoothly to the west parking lot. The Soulless brother had already been waiting there, ready to take over the pork, only to find that all items had been moved to the warehouse. So, they proceeded to the warehouse.
Horse Soul first let the pork thaw before finding firewood and a flat stone, placing the stone on the fire to heat it. While working, he lectured the onlookers on which stones should not be burnt and which were suitable. Everyone but Lin Wu and Emerald Feather was watching the meat roast, with even the Sentry poking their heads out to watch the excitement.
After Emerald Feather confirmed in the ward that the concussion was self-healing, Lin Wu left the ward. He didn’t go to the backyard to watch the meat roast, but instead went to the warehouse to get Silent Night. Then he pulled Stone aside, "I’m taking this gun."
Stone nodded, "Okay." The leader had the authority to designate claimants for items, making certain items exclusive to someone.
"That easy?" Doubtful, suspicious.
Stone said, "One condition, keep the pork in the warehouse’s second-floor secret room until summer, then we’ll move it. I’m telling you, this batch of meat could decide our quality of life in autumn and winter." The Sawmill had electricity, so there was no worry about the food spoiling.
Seeing that Lin Wu didn’t immediately agree, Stone said, "I’m serious."
Only then did Lin Wu nod, "Alright, I got it. There are lots of medical packs and gasoline packs in the secret room, too."
Annoyed, Stone said, "I only asked you not to touch the pork, not to stop working. Maya, Peanut, you and Lin Wu run a few more trips, bring back the supply packs."
"Are you saying capitalists have a black heart?" Lin Wu argued in anger.
Stone replied disdainfully, "You know nothing. It’s where there are capitalists that the economy thrives. I’m becoming a capitalist so that everyone has money to spend and food to eat. You think my heart’s black? Without a black-hearted capitalist like me, you’d be stuck using a hoe to plant crops. And someone like you, I wouldn’t even sell seeds to."
Suffering from the concussion, Lin Wu’s argumentative skills were clearly diminished, and he retorted huffily to Stone, "I’d keep my own seeds."
"The seeds I sell yield twice as much as what you’d keep and can’t be reseeded. You’d have to beg me to sell seeds to you every year," Stone said. "Without me, all the farmers’ yield would be halved. Without the capitalist’s money invested in research, you might as well eat dirt."
Standing aside, Maya asked, "Are you guys arguing or doing academic research?"
Peanut, having arrived in response to the call and heard some of Stone’s remarks, shared his opinion: "When I’m not a capitalist, I oppose them. When I become one, I support them. If capitalists want my support, they should make me a capitalist. Thank you!"
Maya, reflecting on what he said, weighed in, "Stone represents the capitalists and the wealthy. I represent the poor and the average person. Tell me, who would become the leader of the base if it came to a vote?"
Lin Wu said, "Of course, you would." There are more poor and average people.
Maya nodded, "To stabilize my leadership, should I increase the number of poor people at the base, or the number of rich people?"
Lin Wu and Peanut were left dumbfounded by the question.
Stone said, "Their brains aren’t equipped to handle such complex issues. Wait till you’re back, Maya. We can discuss it then, and I can rebut the point you just made."
Maya nodded slightly and said to Lin Wu and Peanut, "Let’s go, we have work to do."
After walking a few steps, Lin Wu looked back at Stone, "I always feel like this Old Man wants to go to Earth to become a politician."
Maya asked, "Why do you think that?"
Lin Wu replied, "I don’t know, just a feeling." His mind was a mess; he had the feeling he was being bullied but couldn’t figure it out.
Without saying anything more, Maya communicated through the headset, "All combat personnel, except for the chefs and West Sentinel, assemble at the west parking lot."
