Chapter 350: Chapter 195: Expansion_2

Later, the investigation revealed that the commander had initiated a school-wide badminton competition and even lobbied the school for extra credits to ensure his girlfriend could secure enough credits to transfer majors successfully. The consequences of this affair were grave, as both the commander and his girlfriend were expelled, and the badminton club was also disbanded.

Lin Wu, "I don’t think I’m in the wrong, but I know it was because of me that a series of consequences were triggered." The commander’s actions were indeed improper, but Lin Wu had not intentionally leaked the information, nor had anyone warned him not to.

Maya said, "You’re the one going to the Meteorological Station sub-base. Given your character, how many sub-bases the main base opens doesn’t concern you, yet you expressed your opinion. You advised me not to open too many sub-bases, fearing serious negative emotions within the base."

Lin Wu said, "That was not a suggestion for the collective, it was advice for you."

Maya looked at Lin Wu for a while, and then said, "Thank you."

Lin Wu, "Happy to help."

...

Upon their return to the base, Stone forbade them from risking their lives again in the Blood Mist area and reprimanded them, thinking they hadn’t fully grasped the concept of risk and reward. Their actions were akin to investing a million just to earn 100 yuan, with extremely high risks that could lead to a total loss of their capital in a single misstep.

Stone saw the underground tunnel as highly risky as well, but also very rewarding. As of now, the underground tunnel expedition team had been gone for two hours with no news, which made Stone quite uneasy.

The members of the underground tunnel expedition team were Shana, Little Knife, Snow Egg, and Peanut. Emerald Feather was on duty as the sentry at the base, with Horse Soul assisting the aerial corridor team. Stone wanted everyone to rest at the base, not wanting to find himself without personnel to dispatch should the tunnel team need rescue.

Stone regretted not preventing the division into two teams, considering that Lin Wu, best suited for exploration, should have joined the tunnel team. Instead, Shana, the prideful girl, had assigned him to the aerial corridor team for its meager rewards.

An hour later, the tunnel team returned safely. Shana reported her progress, "It’s impassable. I need the blueprints."

Maya said, "First, find a standard sewage entrance, and clear a path from the sewage entrance to the river drain outlet. Lin Wu?"

Lin Wu was playing with a drone, which flew low in search of the sewage entrance. Since there was no shining marker on the entrance, it required visual confirmation, leading to slow progress. However, Lin Wu had his own opinion, "We’re not doing too badly. The system always leaves a lifeline for the players. The sawmill we occupy is recommended by the system. Tell me, do we not have legitimate methods of development as the sawmill occupants?"

Maya asked, "What’s your insight?"

As he controlled the drone, Lin Wu said, "I’ve been flying for an hour and noticed that although there are zombies on the road, the overall number isn’t high. We’ve considered the road to be densely populated with zombies because there are small hordes of about twenty that patrol continuously. I’ve also found many potential hiding spots for players along the road. For instance, a hundred meters forward at the crossroad, there are two portable toilets, and another hundred meters ahead, there’s an unfinished barrier by the roadside. I’ve followed the road down and found that every hundred meters there’s a spot big enough to hide several people."

Maya said, "You mean the system expects us to use the roads, taking advantage of cover spots to avoid the patrolling hordes. Sneak or storm into the buildings along the road, scavenge for supplies, and then return on foot."

Lin Wu said, "Exactly! Excluding the patrolling hordes, there are only about ten zombies per hundred meters on the road, and none of them are Titans, at most one Frenzy. If we look at the buildings along the road, like the fire station closest to us, there are at least forty zombies outside a 150-square-meter building, including one Titan. This brings me to a detail I’ve noticed. I’ve observed several buildings and found that Titans are always outdoors."

Shana added, "It seems like the system is encouraging us to sneak into buildings to scavenge for supplies."

After some thought, Maya said, "Call back the drone. Peanut, prepare yourself, you’re going on a mission with me and Lin Wu. We’re heading to the warehouse next door." The warehouse located at the lower right of the Tianzi grid.

...

The trio didn’t choose the main base’s West Watchtower parking lot which was closest to the warehouse, but the south gate instead to reach the highway. Just as Lin Wu had said, there were hiding spots along the road. When they spotted a horde, they hid and waited for it to pass before moving on. The zombies on the highway were sparse, and Maya used a Repeating Crossbow to quickly clear the zombies that were in their way. The three of them arrived successfully outside the warehouse.

Looking back at the base, Shana at the West Watchtower of the Base signalled with her hand and called out, "Can you hear me?"

Maya gestured that she could. Lin Wu pointed towards the side of the warehouse, where there was a flagpole. Climbing up the flagpole would take them directly to the second floor of the warehouse, allowing them to bypass the large number of zombies wandering outside the main entrance.

Maya whispered, "If the zombies become agitated, everyone runs for their lives towards the direction of the base, which will provide covering fire. Lin Wu, go."

"Received," Lin Wu circled around to the side door, killing a Screamer and a zombie near the flagpole. The side space was narrow and without a side door, so not many zombies were there. Lin Wu climbed the flagpole to 15 meters high, stepped out onto the second-floor railing with his left foot, and with one more push, reached the railing of the second-floor warehouse.

Peanut and Maya followed suit. The climb wasn’t difficult, and even without the bonus of Agility, they could easily reach the second floor through endurance. Since it was their first infiltration, they decided to leave Wai at the base.
