Chapter 309: Chapter 179: Supply Point_2

"No need, we’ll walk over,"

"Maya," Lin Wu called out, and when Maya turned back, she saw Wai entering alert mode—apparently, the target had just moved into Wai’s alert range.

Maya said, "Okay, see you in a bit."

Getting into the vehicle, starting the motorcycle, waving goodbye to everyone. As soon as Maya started the motorbike, Lin Wu fired two shots into the air, "Charge," and then reloaded.

Maya looked at Lin Wu, who explained, "Just to scare off the opponent."

Observing the direction Wai was staring at, after traveling about eighty meters, Wai looked towards a 5-story residential building on the roadside. Slamming on the brakes, the duo and dog quickly got off the vehicle and, armed, dashed into the apartment building.

Sunlight and the others noticed the commotion and immediately beckoned everyone to prepare and approach cautiously.

Just as Sunlight and the others were getting close, a person in black jumped down from the third floor of the apartment building, and the next second, Lin Wu followed suit. The person in black landed, followed by Lin Wu’s landing. Lin Wu, with a dagger in hand, struck at the person in black’s head. The person in black flipped Lin Wu over to the side, attempting to escape, but Wai leaped out from the first floor and bit into the person in black’s neck. To avoid injuring Wai, Lin Wu moved to the side with Wind Stinger, firing continuous shots and scoring first blood.

It was a female NPC, from which Lin Wu only obtained a map. Looking up, Lin Wu saw Maya standing by the second-floor wall, "Just a map."

Maya held up the map in her hands, "I’ve got one too. Are you hurt?"

"No."

The map was peculiar and didn’t seem to have much to do with Waste City. There was a statue of a horseman, followed by dashed lines representing paths. The dashed lines split into three, with the endpoint of the first line marked with a skull. The second line’s endpoint had a red X, and the third line’s endpoint had the numbers 1234.

Maya shared the information with Sunlight and the others, and Fire Dance, who had a 5% stake, said, "The statue is the entrance, 1234 is the code. The red X could be a death zone, or it might be where the treasure is."

Maya handed the map over, "Here, take this as fate dictates."

"Thanks," Starlight said, unceremoniously taking the map. She was the only one in the trio who had no grievances or ties with Lin Wu, and she asked Lin Wu, who had already shouldered his gear, "What’s the dog’s name?"

Fire Dance chimed in, "It’s definitely ’Little Something.’"

Lin Wu’s face darkened, "The name is just a code."

Sunlight added from the side, "Be careful out there. Our group set out with over four hundred people, now only the eight of us from our base remain."

"What about Lili?" Lin Wu remembered he had another acquaintance at Starfire Base.

Sunlight replied, "He’s already left Starfire Base."

Lin Wu nodded, "Jealous of talent, I can understand."

Maya hurriedly said, "We should get going, see you later."

"Goodbye."

...

The supply point in District 4 was originally a large three-story library. When Lin Wu and Maya arrived, there were already hundreds of people inside. The first thing that caught their eye was a large screen displaying the current number of surviving players in the instance: 79,000.

The supply point regularly provided free food and accommodation. Beyond that, everything else cost money and required the use of one’s instance points for exchange. Lin Wu’s current points totaled 1,000, earning 200 points for each Hunter killed. His tally of 800 points from killing Red Hair, Blood Meng, Nightmare, and NPCs, came with an additional 200 points for being the first player in the instance to discover the presence of Hunters.

Items available for exchange:

Resurrection Card: 200 points, can resurrect at the supply point after death.

Golden Resurrection Card: 300 points, can resurrect at the supply point after death without any death penalty. Death penalties include resetting attributes, equipment stripping, and deduction of a certain amount of home game points.

Bullets: .22 and handgun bullets are the cheapest, .50 is the most expensive, ranging from 1 to 20 points.

Food packs: 10 points each.

Night vision goggles: 50 points.

Tricycle: 200 points.

Protective gear: 10 points.

Bombs: Starting at 150 points.

Drones: 500 points.

And so on.

All materials exchanged and obtained within the instance cannot be taken out of it. What if you don’t have points? After all, even food costs money, should people starve to death?

Not to worry, the supply point humanely provided work hauling bricks: transporting construction materials from the supply point to the digging sites by manpower. During transport, one cannot be attacked, use skills, use transportation, or abandon the task. After delivering the materials to the digging sites and returning to the supply point, points will be awarded. Different points are given for the weight of the materials transported: 15-20 points for 30-50 kilograms, 20-40 points for 50 to 100 kilograms.

Requirements: The task cannot be abandoned and must be completed within the set time; failure to complete the task within the time will result in a penalty of no further tasks for 48 hours. After completing a task successfully, another hour must pass before taking on a new task.

After looking over the list of supplies, Maya said, "There’s no gasoline for sale."

"Seriously?" Lin Wu re-examined the list of supplies, and indeed, there was no gasoline. Whether it was the tricycle for 200 points or the pickup truck for 500 points, they were both single-use items—if there’s no gas, they would have to be discarded.

Maya said, "You have a lot of points, you can exchange for a Gold Card."

Lin Wu shook his head, "300 is too expensive, and 200 is not practical." Being resurrected without equipment is pointless. 300 is just extortion; I only get 200 points for killing someone, but saving a life costs 300.

Lin Wu said, "I’ll exchange for a few food packs, protective gear, and night vision goggles."

Maya replied, "Okay." She had only two hundred points, not enough for a Gold Card. As Lin Wu thought, a Resurrection Card was of little significance. In the end, Maya exchanged for some food packs, night vision goggles, and two sets of biohazard-level protective suits, just like Lin Wu.
