Chapter 277: Chapter 165: Going to the market_3
Lin Wu said, "But I am in North Town."
Soy Sauce said, "No problem, we’ll soon be entering Left County. Consider these books a deposit, a greeting gift. We offer courtesy before using force; I can give you the books, but if you go back on your word, we’ll definitely settle the score with you."
Lin Wu thought for a moment, "You should sell them instead." These items weren’t worth being a swindler for.
Soy Sauce sized up Lin Wu, who was unarmed and only had a backpack. So Soy Sauce held out a hand: "25 bullets, one per book."
Lin Wu looked down at Soy Sauce’s hand, "25?"
Soy Sauce misunderstood Lin Wu’s meaning, nodded, "Yep, not selling for less." He was very clear in his pricing and then looked at Lin Wu provocatively. He stopped just short of saying, ’Scram, don’t waste my time.’
After confirming the trade details, Lin Wu reached out and took the tags, completing the trade, and 25 tool books entered his backpack.
"Hey," Soy Sauce called after Lin Wu, "are you an idiot? Spending so many bullets on books?"
Lin Wu thought for a moment, requested a trade, and after opening the trade screen, he placed 200 rifle bullets and 200 pistol bullets into it, then cancelled the trade. Seeing that Soy Sauce was startled, Lin Wu leaned in and whispered, "One tool book can be traded for 30 bullets; who’s the fool now? Heh."
Soy Sauce was half-doubtful, "Where do you make the trade?"
Lin Wu didn’t make a sound and shook his head as he walked away. Soy Sauce hurriedly followed, "Brother, just tell me."
Despite being skeptical, he found it hard to believe that anyone could have so many bullets.
Lin Wu felt a bit troubled and hesitated before saying, "I can only tell you it’s near the Corner Office."
Soy Sauce asked, "The Corner Office near the city hall?"
Lin Wu was genuinely surprised, "How did you know?" The Corner Office was one of the bases recommended by the System Map, and Shadow had gone to great lengths to obtain a copy from Nightmare’s hands.
Soy Sauce seemed to express his sincerity and said, "Someone sold us an eighth of a Left County map. That’s not right, how do you get there?"
Lin Wu replied, "Through the sewer."
After these few questions, Soy Sauce saw that Lin Wu wasn’t lying, so he became even more enthusiastic, "Brother, tell me, how do you trade tool books for bullets?"
Lin Wu shook his head, "I can’t tell you that, a master showed me how."
"Who?"
"Fortress agent."
"An NPC?"
"Not at all," Lin Wu said, "I have to go."
"Wait a moment, brother." Soy Sauce traded 25 bullets, "Consider these books a gift from me to you."
Lin Wu didn’t think much of 25 bullets and declined Soy Sauce’s trade, but apparently moved by Soy Sauce’s gesture, leaned in closer and said, "Nightmare."
"Nightmare?"
Lin Wu had no idea which city Nightmare was mixed up in and bluffed, "Nightmare is a Fortress agent, he has a tablet with an electronic sewer map. I buy books for him, and he trades them for bullets; we split it fifty-fifty."
It didn’t sound very credible, but the less credible it seemed, the more credible it might be. Lin Wu couldn’t be blamed; he was good at bluffing, not at lying. Soy Sauce asked Lin Wu an odd question, "Is his tablet an exclusive item?"
"No."
"Oh."
Lin Wu was curious, "Do you know Nightmare?"
Soy Sauce said, "I’ve heard of him, someone has seen him a few times in the southern suburbs of Left County."
Damn, that close!
"I’m off."
"Thanks, brother. If you get a chance, come have tea in Chibei."
"Sure, sure," Lin Wu waved, "Goodbye." He then turned and blended into the crowd.
Lin Wu felt neither good nor bad about Soy Sauce, basically indifferent. The same went for Nightmare; he didn’t dislike him, at least not for the time being. All he did was fan the flames and hand over the knife, if they insisted on fighting, it was none of his business.
