Chapter 246: Chapter 154 Probability_2
There were only three outcomes for the zombies. The first was having their bones shattered, falling unconscious before being executed. The second was being executed by having their skulls crushed instantly. The last outcome was being beaten to death after countless strikes without triggering the effects of either shattered bones or crushed skulls.
Gale Combo was different from Staff Expertise previously, as it required no actual skill—just bash with a blunt weapon under the enhancement of the power. Seeing Shana taking on three zombies alone without falling behind, Lin Wu felt that such a "dumb" skill was better suited for "dumb" Na.
Lin Wu mentioned from the side, "If you could combine it with a 30% increase in attack speed from the Light Blunt Weapon Expertise, you could immobilize three zombies at the same time." Light Blunt Weapon Expertise was what Blood Meng offered in exchange for bullets, but Shana had removed it from the trade options seeing Lin Wu’s desire for the Skill Book.
It was just as well they hadn’t traded, for otherwise the skills would be lost upon death.
After Shana killed the last zombie, she shook her head lightly and said, "Let’s go," leading the way.
Lin Wu caught up and remarked, "There will be many more opportunities in the future."
Shana replied, "No, it’s because of the sewing. Although no one mentions it, I always feel like I owe everyone an apology."
Lin Wu: "Right, you’re not wearing any clothes."
Shana angrily retorted, "You’re the one not wearing any clothes."
Lin Wu laughed and said, "Everyone saw that you came back to life wearing a set of your own clothes; they already know you’ve lost your Sewing Skill. No one brought it up because they were being kind to you. When you died last time, some people maliciously accused me. Compared to that, you should feel very lucky."
Shana asked, "When I died this time..."
After pondering for a while, Lin Wu replied, "Everyone was very sad until I reminded them that you would resurrect near North Town, and then they felt a bit better."
"You’re lying."
Lin Wu: "Lies can be kind, too."
Shana said with a bitter expression, "I’m just a burden now, right?"
Lin Wu: "Yes."
Shana immediately became furious and struck Lin Wu with her ski pole: "You could lie."
Lin Wu dodged, consoling her, "But I really need you."
At that, Shana’s heart skipped a beat, "You... you... keep talking."
Keep talking? Lin Wu gave Shana a puzzled look: "Without you, it wouldn’t be convenient for me to take on Bounty Hunter missions."
Shana: "Thank you for reminding me I’m still useful."
Lin Wu: "You’re welcome."
Shana: "Let’s play a game."
Lin Wu: "What game?"
Shana: "No talking to each other until we reach the base."
Lin Wu: "That’s a boring game."
Shana fiercely declared, "Game starts now."
...
Returning to the supermarket base, Shana sat down in a huff, while Lin Wu looked on, pondering and clueless about the situation. Then, Shana suddenly came to her senses, turned around and gave Lin Wu a smile that frightened him into retreating repeatedly. What on earth? He couldn’t understand at all; she was completely unpredictable.
Just as Lin Wu was about to ask what was going on, they heard a muffled roar from the supermarket, like the sound of someone with a loud voice clearing their throat. Both of them got goosebumps and immediately went into stealth mode, took out their assault rifles, and advanced to the supermarket hall, one leading and the other following. They saw a Titan slowly strolling through the supermarket.
Reasonably, with their equipment and the base’s unlimited bullets, they could kill the Titan outright, but the question was, would they die before killing the Titan? The problem was the lack of a high point; if the Titan were outside the supermarket, they could play a shooting game from the second floor or the watchtower. But the creature had already entered the supermarket, and firing a gun might make the Titan insist on playing a game of sandbag.
An extremely low spawn rate? Is this what they call an extremely low spawn rate?
Lin Wu whispered, "Should I lure it outside?"
Shana disagreed: "In the snow, your speed will be greatly reduced." What about skiing? First, you have to run outside the supermarket to pull the Titan out, then put on your skis, and start accelerating... No, no, the Titan wouldn’t give that chance.
Lin Wu: "Fire the gun, then flee to the rooftop using the direct elevator next to the radio."
Shana: "What if it’s just wandering around near the elevator?"
Lin Wu: "Rocket?"
Shana: "It needs to rock its body four times before a fatal blow can be struck. Even a nuclear bomb would only make it rock once. A rocket? Where would that come from?"
Lin Wu: "I killed Nightmare three times."
Shana was immediately touched: "Thank you."
Lin Wu, puzzled: "Why thank you?"
Shana: "For avenging me."
Lin Wu: "Oh, you’re welcome." Avenging her was trivial; dealing with troublemakers was a medium problem, but being too clingy was a major one.
Facing the Titan, the two were somewhat at a loss. Firing from outside provided a very small shooting range, and there was no guarantee they could escape the Titan’s pursuit even then.
Shana suggested: "Silence."
"Let’s try it, and if it doesn’t work, you make a run for the second floor first," Lin Wu added, promptly extinguishing Shana’s touch of gratitude: "So you don’t block my escape route."
Lin Wu switched to the Silencer, stepped out of the corridor, aimed at the Titan’s head from behind a shelf, and pulled the trigger. With almost no sound, the Titan was hit in the head, stood straight to look left and right, then jogged around the supermarket, smashing through the obstructing shelves. It quickly calmed down, and when Lin Wu shot it again, the Titan started a jog, this time with an added ground shake.
After the third shot, the Titan let out an angry roar, and at once, zombies from all around swarmed the supermarket. Lin Wu and Shana scrambled up the elevator to the rooftop; when the noise died down, they peered down from the elevator entrance to see three zombies near the base’s radio.
Lin Wu took out the three zombies, returned to the corridor connecting to the supermarket’s lobby, and saw two Frenzies and over twenty more zombies roaming around. Sigh! It had been so many days since I stirred up a scream, this is the consequence of not staying on task. Lin Wu took out the ordinary zombies first, then patiently waited for the two Frenzies to slowly leave the supermarket. With the Titan in the way, Lin Wu could only watch as they left.
Shana proposed: "Why not just throw it over there?" Zombies often spawned in the supermarket’s main hall, and a few would wander over to the base.
Lin Wu: "What would you think if you woke up in the morning and saw a Titan right outside as soon as you opened the door?"
Shana replied: "That depends on whether it has any designs on me; I don’t mind living in peace."
Lin Wu laughed: "I’ll draw it away, then climb up to the second floor through the rope after I leave the base."
Shana objected: "Once it loses its target, it won’t stay in place to eat bullets. According to its logic, if you go to the second floor, and since the elevator goes there too, it’s likely to wait for you at the elevator. That’s what Maya said; she analyzed the zombies’ behaviors."
The car couldn’t be driven. There was no high ground. They shouldn’t enrage it inside the base, or a fight would break out and a lot could get destroyed—Lin Wu had seen a Titan tear a train in two. So what now? Really leave it in the base to eat hot pot?
Lin Wu turned the radio’s volume down first so that Stone wouldn’t call out and have the Titan come over for a feast. Lin Wu spoke softly into the radio: "Calling Maya."
Stone: "Stone here."
"Titan’s inside."
Stone: "Stone is out."
A while later, Maya: "What’s the situation?"
Lin Wu: "There’s a Titan taking a stroll in the supermarket."
Maya, shocked: "Your luck couldn’t be worse, encountering such a rare spawn inside the supermarket."
Lin Wu: "Sis, say something useful."
After some thought, Maya said: "Use firecrackers to lure it out, and then you two try to take it out from the second floor."
Lin Wu slapped his forehead, having used firecrackers many times. He had forgotten this tool. Glancing at Shana: It’s all your fault. Ever since hanging out with you, my IQ has plummeted.
Shana frowned at Lin Wu: That look in his eyes was up to no good. Could it be, could it be he intended to feed her to the Titan?
Shana took the walkie-talkie: "That might not work. The area outside the supermarket’s front door isn’t within the base’s coverage. Lin Wu and I are not as good a shot as you, and if the Titan charges back into the supermarket while resisting bullets, we’d be at a disadvantage. Remember, it took you 80 bullets to kill a Titan last time. Is it worth spending 80 bullets on it?"
Maya: "Then play it safe and pull it away. Or, you could lead it to the area outside the back door, where it can help you defend against hostile players invading."
The supermarket’s main entrance leads to the supermarket’s lobby, and from there to the corridor connecting the supermarket to its base. The supermarket’s base is located at the tail end of the supermarket, where the staff changing rooms and employee corridors are.
