Chapter 150: Chapter 116 Solar Demon_2
...
Everyone had planned to inspect the cement factory, but when they saw Lin Wu and Shana passing by at the intersection, Little Knife, who was about to greet them, closed her mouth. She noticed that something was off with the two of them.
Lin Wu led the way, arms wrapped around thin air at his left shoulder, while Shana followed, holding onto air at her right shoulder. They hadn’t walked far when both started twisting their bodies in unison. Lin Wu cursed nonstop, and although Shana was not happy with Lin Wu’s profanities, she didn’t talk back.
Stone looked over at Maya beside him, "Contagious disease?"
Maya, straightforward as ever, called out, "Lin Wu."
As Lin Wu turned his head, he lost his grip, and Shana did not catch it either, so both of them hurriedly started fumbling on the ground. As Maya walked over, she asked, "What are you doing?"
"Solar Demon?" Lin Wu replied.
Stone, from behind Maya, asked, "Is ’Demon’ Shana’s nickname?"
Lin Wu was stunned for a few seconds, then erupted, "You LSP, your brain’s filled with shit, and all of it’s yellow."
Unexpectedly, Stone did not retaliate, asking instead, "No, no, what’s a ’Solar Demon’? Some kind of youth slang?"
Shana, the clever one, beckoned Maya to come over and squat down, taking Maya’s hand to touch the ’Solar Demon’. Maya jumped in shock, "What is this?"
Lin Wu, infuriated, exclaimed, "Solar Demon." It was maddening, having to repeat himself over and over.
Shana explained, "It’s like a power-up assistant, if we move it to a dark area, you’ll see."
Little Knife, still puzzled, said, "I’m strength, but how do I assist?"
Lin Wu clarified, "There’s a zombie on the ground."
""Pshh!" Horse Soul, Stone, and Little Knife all hissed in unison.
Maya clarified, "There’s a zombie on the ground".
"Oh?" The three immediately came over to squat down and started feeling around for the invisible ’Solar Demon’ with their fingers.
The discriminated Lin Wu was on the verge of a blood pressure explosion.
...
They brought the ’Solar Demon’ into the supermarket base. The lighting inside the base was dim, and everyone finally got a clear look at the ’Solar Demon’. It looked a lot like a ’Night Demon’, the only difference being the hair: ’Night Demon’ had long hair, ’Solar Demon’ was bald.
Stone remarked, "Dawn is truly malicious."
Maya asked, "Why do you say that?" She pulled out a blunted dagger and poked at the ’Solar Demon’ to check its defense data.
Stone explained, "Winter is coming, and the nights are getting cold. Players who all need to go out will choose to do so during daytime when there’s sunlight. That’s when the ’Solar Demon’ appears—it’s designed to hunt players venturing out during the day."
Horse Soul commented, "Then it’s going to be lively in the future. A place where you can’t see zombies is not necessarily safe. Life players, like Fishing Man, might get ambushed."
Maya inquired, "How strong is its attack?"
Shana turned to Lin Wu, "Lin Wu got bitten."
Maya looked at Lin Wu. Lin Wu said, "Anyway, whatever I say, you won’t believe me, so you can say it for me."
Maya responded, "I believe you."
Lin Wu paused, feeling moved by her words, "Do you know how touching that is?"
Stone interjected, "Lin Wu, you can’t blame us. You said there was a zombie on the ground, and we didn’t see one. It’s not just you; other than Maya, anyone else claiming there’s a zombie on the ground, we’d ’Pshh’ at them too. Are you seriously trying to compete with Maya in honesty?"
Lin Wu looked at Maya, who gestured with her hand, "Say it."
Lin Wu said, "I am a Blood Plague survivor, with no infection data. Stone, reach out your hand."
Stone was irate, "Why me?"
Lin Wu retorted, "As the boss, you can appoint a sacrifice, can’t you?"
Stone shot back, "That’s not very nice of you." Despite his words, he still extended his hand.
Lin Wu and Horse Soul were not very acquainted and wouldn’t suggest Horse Soul. Shana, Maya, and Little Knife were women and thus subconsciously excluded. That left Stone. Conveniently, he had just ridiculed Lin Wu, so this was a chance for a little payback.
Through experimentation, it was found that the Solar Demon’s bite can cause severe poisoning, while the Night Demon’s bite leads to significant blood loss. Currently, only Exploding Carnage is known to cause poisoning in players, and now the Solar Demon is another source. There’s no cure for poisoning at present; it can only be withstood using the immune system. After suffering severe poisoning for a minute, it subsides to moderate poisoning, and after enduring that for another minute, it becomes mild poisoning.
Severe poisoning (bleeding) causes a loss of 3 health points per second, plus a decrease of 1 health point from the maximum health per second. Moderate poisoning (bleeding) causes a health loss of 2 points per second, and a reduction of 1 max health point every 1.5 seconds. Mild poisoning (bleeding) causes a loss of 1 health point per second, and a decrease of 1 max health point every three seconds.
Without medicine and treatment, no one can withstand severe poisoning.
To gather data for Maya, everyone began to hassle the Solar Demon. Stone kicked Lin Wu’s shoe, and the two stepped outside. Glancing back inside, Stone whispered, "Last night, Shana went out for a walk, and I followed her for a bit. She met with Nightmare again at the place where you last saw her with him."
Lin Wu asked, "Are you sure it was Nightmare?"
"I’m sure. Why do you doubt it?"
Lin Wu shared his view that their relationship didn’t seem close. Not only were they not close, but they also seemed quite unfamiliar with each other. Lin Wu said, "I think Nightmare likes Maya," and recounted what happened at the campsite.
After hearing this, Stone appeared thoughtful. "Even if Shana is up to something, it doesn’t seem like a bad thing. At least not for us."
"Yeah." Lin Wu said, "I didn’t tell Maya."
"Don’t tell her, she doesn’t keep secrets." Maya wouldn’t blab, but rather, she disliked lying. Sometimes when asked the right question, she would avoid answering, which was as good as giving an answer.
Lin Wu asked, "Do you plan to wait for Shana to explain to you?"
Stone replied, "It’s only the beginning of our two-year gaming career. To ensure the stable development of Shadow, we need a tactics instructor like Maya and a social manager like Shana. Moreover, she has a particular talent for handling trades. These last few days, I’ve entrusted her with contacting Wanderer, Invincible, and the others."
Lin Wu asked, "How is Wanderer doing?"
Stone replied, "They took over another medium-sized base, but somehow their base threat level broke 5 stars last night. I was inclined to send Snow Egg over to help them suppress their threat level, but the tunnels are currently blocked. And you, when messing around with Maya, don’t get too wild, alright?"
Lin Wu was confused: "Relationships?"
"Relationships my foot, I’m talking about safety," Stone said. "You and Maya have been to Invincible Base, what do you think of Peanut?"
"He’s good. What’s the matter?"
Stone said, "Last night at eight, as usual, Shana contacted some familiar bases to share information, which included Invincible Base. Afterwards, Shana told me that Invincible seems a bit dissatisfied with Peanut."
Lin Wu chuckled. "That’s why you’re preparing to take in Peanut beforehand."
Stone nodded. "We can’t wait until something happens before considering a solution."
Maya came out from the doorway, "Lin Wu, I’m done here. It’s probably the first kill of a Solar Demon in Left County. You caught it, so you should do it."
Generously, Lin Wu said, "Give it to Shana." A mere Solar Demon is not worthy of concern.
"Alright."
Soon, the sound of iron being struck resounded from the east. Lin Wu and Stone walked together to the edge of the sub-base’s safety zone, only to find Shana was hitting the Solar Demon’s head with a water pipe, making a clang of metal on metal with each hit.
Holding out the water pipe, Shana said, "Horse Soul, help me switch to a blunt weapon."
After getting a blunt weapon, Shana continued to beat the Solar Demon. The poor creature, with its limbs bound and mouth sealed, was at the mercy of Shana’s slaughtering. Shana, with one hand on her hip, asked, "How did you kill the tough Night Demon?"
"I used sunlight to kill the Night Demon." Only a fool would use a blunt weapon. Lin Wu pulled out a sharp dagger and handed it over. Perhaps killing a Solar Demon requires moonlight?
"Thank you." Shana really had a good nature, not blaming Lin Wu for not producing the weapon earlier, but instead expressing gratitude for his support. Her action of stabbing the dagger into the skull was not considered an execution by the system, but the damage was high enough. After four stabs, the once vigorous Solar Demon finally died. Clearly, it was not the first kill, and Shana did not get a Loot Chest.
Even Stone couldn’t bear to watch, "Shana, you should use a katana." The katana was a reward for escorting Nightmare and also a powerful melee weapon for the Shadow base, with a certain chance of Beheading, barely qualifying as swordsmanship.
Shana didn’t want pity, "I think the blunt weapon is very useful. Aren’t you heading to the cement factory?"
Horse Soul asked, "Aren’t you coming?"
Shana looked at Lin Wu, "We have some things to take care of first."
Lin Wu explained, "Night Demon, Solar Demon, I’m thinking about capturing a Noon Demon next."
Stone, somewhat helplessly, "Listen to yourself, always shooting the breeze. You expect us to believe you?"
Lin Wu, dissatisfied, "Old Man, maybe I really can catch a Noon Demon, you know?"
As the two were about to get into it again, everyone hastily ushered each to their side, urging Lin Wu and Shana to hurry along, to avoid further troubles with the extras.
