Chapter 149: Chapter 116 Solar Demon
There was a small stream near the supermarket, and alongside it, a concrete path was blocked by at least 20 vehicles. Why were there cars in such a remote place? Maya conjectured that after the outbreak of the virus, panicking people planned to escape to the mountains. Lin Wu then asked why they didn’t take another broader road? Maya guessed, "Lin Wu is looking for trouble."
Shana naturally handed Lin Wu a pry bar, which he took without hesitation, and both of them started smashing a scrapped car and chatted their way to the subject of being hung and screaming. Shana asked, "Aren’t you worried that Dawn might accuse you of abusing zombies?"
Lin Wu replied, "Maya did it." The screaming only affected one area, so they needed to hang one zombie each in the east, south, west, and north, which greatly expanded the covered area.
"Ha, I don’t believe Maya could come up with such a thing," said Shana. "Hey, do you have any supplies on your side that I can trade for Swallowtail Dart materials this afternoon?"
Lin Wu replied, "You really don’t hold back."
Shana returned, "Being polite to you is just making life difficult for me."
Lin Wu stopped and began searching his backpack. Personal systems are annoying—the backpack is cluttered with everything. A command system would be much better, with the commander worrying about tracking supplies so that it’s clear what’s in the storehouse. Lin Wu emptied his backpack, "A four-times scope, a tactical pistol with a flashlight, and two bottles of serum? Where did the serum come from?" Lin Wu forgot. It must have been the serum he and Little Knife picked up while clearing the tunnels.
Lin Wu took out a design blueprint from his backpack, "Just this might be worth some money, the entrenching tool blueprint."
Shana leaned over to see, "It’s a melee weapon."
Lin Wu said, "The entrenching tool has the advantages of both bludgeons and bladed weapons, the attack speed of a bladed weapon, and the stun effect of a bludgeon. It falls into the melee weapon category and encompasses dual effects of Sharp Blade and bludgeon."
Shana took it and looked, somewhat regretfully, "It’s green-bordered." Gold to purple to blue to green, green border represents the lowest grade of blueprint.
Lin Wu suggested, "Couldn’t you just take a blue pen and color over it?"
Shana was surprised, "Could that actually work?"
Lin Wu replied, "I don’t know; I don’t do such despicable things."
Shana lashed out with a kick, but Lin Wu dodged, saying, "That’s all the goods I have. I can’t just trade No. 41 for materials. Maya would chop me up and feed me to the screamers."
Shana commented, "Speaking of Maya, she seems really happy when she’s playing with you, lost in the game."
Lin Wu responded, "Everyone enjoys playing, as long as they find a toy they like. Each person would be very happy. Maya loves firearms. Competing with others satisfies her sense of achievement and stokes her competitive spirit. What about you? What do you like?"
Shana said, "I like points, hehe. I like to play games freely. After arriving at the Home game, I think the most fun were the two trips to Left County."
Lin Wu reacted, "Oh? The first time, you almost died in Left County, and the second time, you came back to base bruised and battered."
Shana replied, "Which is why it was so interesting."
Lin Wu mused, "Isn’t North Lake more interesting? You died outright."
Shana got so mad she clenched her fist: "I like you and hate you so much at the same time."
Lin Wu was about to apologize with a smile, then his expression froze, and he looked up, pulling the drone with his thoughts, "There’s a zombie 15 meters from us, at that spot. But I haven’t seen it, nor has the drone."
Shana asked in doubt, "Then how did you find out?"
"Drone scanning," said Lin Wu as he drew the Silencer. The drone’s mini-map displayed the zombie slowly moving toward them, yet Lin Wu saw nothing at the zombie’s supposed position.
Shana focused for a moment, "Is there something there?"
Just then, the sun pierced through the clouds, and air distortions appeared ten meters to the east of them, the kind of ripples that hot summer sun creates in the air.
Shana took out a mirror and said, "Solar Demon."
As there were Night Demons, of course, there were Solar Demons too. The sun emerged from the clouds again, and as the light brightened, the vague air distortions vanished.
"Retreat," instructed Lin Wu as he set up a Beast Trap in front of a car, placed a newspaper over it, and then slowly backed away with Shana.
Shana asked, "Aren’t you going to shoot?"
Lin Wu explained, "We need data; otherwise, it’s hard to explain to Maya."
The Solar Demon cautiously followed the cars toward them and then snapped the Beast Trap, but even then, they couldn’t see the Solar Demon, only the trapped device being dragged. Lin Wu made a split-second decision, pulling out a rope and duct tape from his bag and throwing them to Shana, "Go."
"What for?" What did he mean?
"Tie it up."
"Can’t you let me do something a human can do?" While Shana spoke, Lin Wu had already dived into the air.
Shana watched Lin Wu suspended above the ground, twisting violently, Lin Wu urged, "Quick!" Meanwhile, teeth marks appeared on Lin Wu’s left arm, and blood began to flow.
Shana could only step forward, with Lin Wu placing her foot on the Solar Demon’s back to let her feel the presence of the Solar Demon. He took the rope over the head, ready to tie the Solar Demon’s hands and body together. Shana felt the immense strength of the Solar Demon and, having no choice, knelt down pressing on it entirely.
What a situation. She came to dismantle some scrap metal but ended up kidnapping, and the victim was a zombie.
The two, not being particularly strong, were at a disadvantage against the Solar Demon. They used all their might and still struggled to control it, to tie it up successfully. Frustrated, Lin Wu picked up a stone and knocked the Solar Demon on the head twice, stunning it...
Seizing the opportunity, they tied up the Solar Demon, but it soon woke up and continued struggling. Lin Wu and Shana cooperated to tie its legs. After sealing its mouth, Lin Wu handled the front while Shana took the legs, and they made their way back to the supermarket camp.
