Chapter 129: Chapter 105: Bloody Battle_3

After chopping down several zombies, Maya felt something was off, as the number of zombies hadn’t decreased. This was all thanks to the diligent Screeching Zombie. In the densely infested city, a screech could summon zombies from all directions.

Lin Wu pushed a table down from the second floor, and together with Maya, they used the table to block the staircase entrance. The zombie horde clawed frantically, and the table was being destroyed at a visible rate. The two immediately rushed to the third floor, entered an office, where Lin Wu used his Wind Stinger to kill two zombies, and Maya closed the door behind them. The pair then entered Stealth mode.

In that brief moment, Lin Wu took out a rope and let it down from the window, waiting about ten seconds. There came banging at the door, and the two promptly escaped to the first floor using the rope. The zombie horde broke through the door, but, lacking intelligence, they did not notice the rope and instead searched for humans in the room.

Once on the ground floor, Maya and Lin Wu immediately entered Stealth mode, carefully hugging the walls without daring to make a move. It was the first time that regular zombies had driven them to such despair.

After waiting for about a minute, the low growls of the zombies gradually faded. The two made their way to the other side of the building, only to see the stairwell at Building 1, along with the bus stop, crammed with zombies.

Having been to the bus terminal before, Lin Wu knew there were two staircases and thus led Maya to advance via Staircase 2. Upon reaching the second floor and looking down the corridor, they saw that the room where they had originally taken refuge was also overrun by zombies. So they continued upwards, with all the zombies already drawn to the second floor and Staircase 1, allowing them to reach the third floor with ease.

Regardless of how many zombies were outside, they entered a room, took out the zombies that were inside, and then began looking around. It has to be said that the resources in the county were plentiful—they found two packs of construction materials, a pack of food, and a pack of medical supplies in three offices. Unfortunately, each person could only carry one pack, so they could only take the construction materials.

Looking down from the third-floor corridor, Lin Wu saw that most of the zombies had dispersed, with only about twenty still lingering. Their poor motorcycle was in the middle of the horde, squeezed to the ground and apparently damaged. This put the two in a very awkward situation—as they could gather another horde if they fought. Without fighting, how could they retrieve the motorcycle?

Without a vehicle, not to mention returning to base, they probably couldn’t even get out of the bus parking lot. After waiting a while with no sign of the zombies dispersing, Lin Wu and Maya whispered to each other, and Lin Wu took the initiative to show himself on the first floor, drawing the zombie horde away and then climbing onto the top of a bus, moving across the roofs of the buses.

Maya took the opportunity to reach the motorcycle and discovered it had been crushed beyond repair. So she took out the only repair kit they had. As she watched the progress bar move forward, a zombie launched a sneak attack, biting onto her shoulder. Maya endured the pain and completed the repair progress bar, after which the zombie, growing bolder, bit her two more times before she sent it on its way.

Maya rode the motorcycle around the horde, slowing down while Lin Wu, burning with stamina, pushed his speed to the limit and managed to widen the gap from the zombies before jumping off the roof of the bus. Unfortunately, he jumped a bit too late and didn’t land on the back seat, but instead hit the concrete ground hard. Maya fought back a laugh and stopped the bike, then a red-faced Lin Wu ran a few steps and flipped onto the motorcycle’s back seat.

Because of their stop, zombies from the vicinity had already begun to converge on them. One zombie from the side started running, preparing to pounce, but Maya, steadying the bike with one hand and holding a pistol in the other, blew its head off from a two-meter distance. Lin Wu took out his Silencer, determined to take down any zombies that got close to the motorcycle.
