Chapter 80: Ah, this is so much easier than I thought
The issue died down with Peri passing out from the punch. Even with the braces, Dongwoo still felt his hand ache. He wasn’t used to throwing up his chest in the first place, so adding the braces was painful.
"I’m sorry, Kiddo." Taiha apologized to Dongwoo.
"For what? You saved me there." Dongwoo said but he shook his head.
"I shouldn’t have left you alone. This happened because I was negligent. This was your first time, and you look so..." He didn’t know the words to use, but it had something to do with inviting. He rubbed the back of his neck. "It’s like you have some sort of bad guy magnet on you."
That was a given.
Dongwoo had a knack for, unknowingly, attracting the attention of awful guys.
"Don’t worry, it’s alright now." Dongwoo said. "Next time something like this happens..."
"There’s not going to be a next time, Hyung." Seojin said, interrupting him. "I’ll make sure of it."
"And how are you going to do that?" Taiha asked and though reluctantly, Seojin answered to appear friendly and kind.
"We’ll stick with Hyung throughout and not let any bad guy approach. That’s the safest method." He said.
"Hm." Taiha watched them.
They were seated next to Dongwoo like they were his protectors, staring at him with a certain spark in their eyes. He was worried too but the way they looked at him while being worried was as if...
He shook his head. He might just be overthinking it but he would keep it at the back of his mind for now.
"Well, I’ll leave you guys. The party’s going to be over soon. You can enjoy some drinks in the meantime if you don’t want to leave and if you drink too much and can’t go home, there’s a room reserved for you upstairs."
"Thank you once more, Taiha Sunbae." Dongwoo said. "I really appreciate what you did."
"It’s nothing. I’ll get going now." He waved and left.
Dongwoo waved at him, and once they were alone, he looked at the twins, who were staring at him the whole time.
"What is it?" He asked and Seojin slipped his hand in his.
Seojun did the same and they both dropped their heads on his shoulders.
"Um, what’s wrong?" He asked.
"Hyung, so many things happened tonight." Seojin said. "And you almost got humiliated too."
"Well, it’s settled now."
"But it doesn’t change the fact that you felt fear." Seojun said. "We noticed you were scared. Did... Did you recall a bad memory again?"
"... ..."
Dongwoo fell silent. The twins were as observant as always.
"I did." He answered and rested on them. "You two are always like this. Thank you for caring."
"Then, Hyung," Seojin raised his head. "Why don’t we have some drinks?"
Dongwoo blinked. Drinks? As in, alcohol?
"You want me to drink alcohol with you?" He asked and they smiled as a response. "Well, I’m not very good at holding my liquor, and I..."
"Come on, Hyung." Seojun gripped tighter on his arm. "It’ll be our first drink together, just the three of us. Don’t you want to drink with us?"
’Just the three of us.’ the thought echoed in Dongwoo’s mind. ’Our first drink together.’
It was pretty tempting but... He knew he wasn’t good at holding his liquor and would quickly pass out after a few glasses, so he wanted to get home. He had had enough drama for one night.
"Maybe..." He was just about to say ’another time’ when he caught sight of someone who suspiciously looked like one of his exes. He froze for a moment and then bowed his head.
A stream of nasty memories flooded his head and he shuddered.
"Hyung?" The two who noticed his sudden shaken state wondered what had come over him all of a sudden.
"Ah, on second thought." He said and raised his head. "Let’s drink." He forced a smile. "Let’s have our first drink together, you guys."
It was odd that he suddenly agreed after shaking up like that, and they both looked up in the direction he had looked into, but there was no one and nothing to shake him up.
So, what was it?
Well, the essence of inviting him to drink was to help him forget his worries and clear his mind. If he was drunk, he would certainly spill out the secrets, the ones they couldn’t find with a background check, that was tying his heart down.
"Alright, Hyung. Let’s drink."
"But not here." Dongwoo suddenly said. "I don’t know how well you two handle your liquor, but you’re going to be big figures soon, and it would be bad if you were photographed in your worst moments, so let’s go up to drink."
The twins paused and then smiled.
’Ah, this is so much easier than I thought.’ Seojin thought. ’Hyung is making it so easy to come on to him.’
"Alright, Hyung." Seojun said with an innocent smile. "Let’s go up."
On their way up, eyes were staring at them. Well, there was such a big commotion. It would be strange if there were no eyes on them.
Seojin placed his hand on Dongwoo’s shoulder and asked,
"Are you feeling uncomfortable?"
Dongwoo shook his head.
"No, but pelad mind your image." He said, gently pushing his hand off his shoulder. "It would be bad if rumors started circulating."
Seojin looked at his hand and frowned. Then, he squeezed it into a fist and clicked his tongue.
’This is annoying.’
As they made their way up, Dongwoo caught sight of Sungho talking to a few directors. He was smiling like a professional and exchanging casual thoughts.
’Sungho came.’ he thought. ’Well, it’s a relief he decides to continue his career.’
He looked up, only to discover Seojun had paused and was staring behind, as if searching for someone.
"What’s wrong?" He asked.
"It’s nothing, Hyung." He smiled, and Dongwoo nodded, continuing on their way, but it wasn’t ’nothing’ as Seojun had said. He felt someone was watching them.
Yes, there were a lot of eyes on them but this particular stare was hostile in a way.
Could he just take it as someone who just didn’t like them taking the spotlight? Well, he could deal with that.
After they left, Sung Haejin, also known as Rose, turned away from the direction they had vanished into and clicked her tongue.
"They didn’t even pay attention to me one bit." She muttered and bit the tip of her thumb. "Yet they pay attention to that nobody. How dare he snatch their attention? Who does he think he is?"
She felt bitter. She, as the rose of the industry, was used to attract the eyes of every single male and even female with her body proportions and her beautiful face. Yet, these twins, the only ones she was having interest in for the first time, had completely ignored her and went off with some other guy.
What could she make out of this?
"In this industry, I come on top. So no one deserves to steal what I want. No one."
