Chapter 371: Just do what we say and we’ll spare your life
"If you want to live then beg properly." Seojin’s simple demand.
It irritated him that the butler was still putting on airs even when his life was on the line. If he didn’t know how to beg then he’d better look forward to a life of torture.
The butler took one long look at the men who were glaring at him with hatred and subjected himself to his situation.
He got on his knees properly, placed his hands on the floor in front of him, and then bowed his head.
This was the proper way to beg.
"Please, spare my life." He said and Seojin clicked his tongue before looking away.
Dongwoo reached for Seojin’s shirt and pinched it.
"What is it Hyung?"
"Let’s just... Use him." He said.
"Use him?"
"Let’s extract the information we need for him and...ngh," he squinted his eyes painfully. He pressed his hand on his head feeling pain.
Even at that moment, he was trying his best to stay awake and conscious to see what was going to happen and know who the perpetrator was.
He would not rest until he found out why Lily had to die.
"Don’t say anything more, Hyung. I understand what you’re getting at." Seojin said and turned to the Butler. "Hey, start talking and you better not lie."
The butler nodded and started from the top.
They got the information they needed from the butler and Dongwoo was even more shaken now. His hands trembled and his eyeballs shook in disbelief.
To think the people who had paid to kidnap him were his biological parents. So, because he refused to go back to them on his own, they decided to report to this?
How cruel?!
His body kept trembling like someone who had spent hours outside on a winter night with nothing but thin-layered clothing.
They were awful. He knew they were terrible, especially his mother, but not this much. He had no idea they would stoop to this level and disregard his own wishes.
Were they really his parents?
Tears slid down his eyes.
"Hyung, this is enough," Seojun said and placed his hand on his hand on his eyes, covering his sight. "Leave the rest to us."
Dongwoo cried even more with his vision closed.
He just wanted everything to end already. He was exhausted.
As the night wore on, Dongwoo’s exhaustion finally caught up with him, and he fell into a deep sleep, his head resting on Seojin’s shoulder. Seojin and Seojun exchanged a look, and Seojun nodded.
"It’s time," Seojun whispered, his eyes gleaming with determination.
Seojin gently laid Dongwoo down on the backseat of the car, covering him with a blanket.
They waited for him to fall asleep before carrying out their operation.
While they went ahead with it, Seojun’s men would take Dongwoo to the hospital.
Seojun turned to the butler, who was still kneeling on the ground.
"Just do what we say and we’ll spare your life." Seojun said, his voice cold and menacing. "Take us to Dongwoo’s parents."
The butler nodded, still shaking with fear. "Y-yes, of course."
The rest of Seojun’s men, who had nothing to do with taking Dongwoo to the hospital, moved to surround the butler, escorting him to his car. Seojin and Seojun followed, their eyes fixed on the butler from behind.
The butler would use his car and act like he had Dongwoo with him but the people in his company were actually Seojin and Seojun.
As they drove, Seojun’s men tailed them from a safe distance, ready to intervene at any moment.
The butler led them to a small portable house on the outskirts of the city.
"Stay out of sight." Seojun ordered and his men moved to surround the house from a distance, hiding behind trees and bushes, trapping anyone who might try to escape.
Seojin and Seojun stepped out of the car, their eyes fixed on the house. The butler trembled, knowing he was in grave danger if his superiors found out he double-crossed them right away.
He needed to find a way to escape if things started going south.
"Let’s go," Seojun said, his voice low and menacing.
The butler nodded, leading them into the house.
Inside, they found Dongwoo’s parents, their faces calm and collected. They were having a conversation about how to send Dongwoo abroad after hypnotizing him to be the good, obedient, and intelligent son he once was.
It was mostly Mrs Lee doing all the talking and Mr Lee sighing in response. If her plan failed, she had herself to blame.
And just as he feared, the plan did not go successfully.
The butler walked in and bowed his head,
"I have returned," he said with his head bowed and cold sweat dripping down his chin.
"Well? Where is my son?" Mrs Lee asked with a calm and domineering expression plastered on her face like a mask, but then Seojin and Seojun walked in, causing their expressions to change, revealing a hint of fear. "What is..." He requested trailed to the butler bitterly. "The meaning of this?"
"It’s just as you see," Seojin said. "We’ve come to pay our respects to our in-laws."
"In-laws? Don’t spout rubbish. I don’t have a daughter." Mrs Lee said, still trying to retain the little bit of composure she had left.
"But you have a son, don’t you?" Seojun asked. "Two, in fact. But we’re only claiming rights to your first son so..."
"Are you serious right now?" Mrs Lee clenched her fist. "I don’t know how you got here but..."
"You have some nerves for someone who tried to kidnap our lover." Seojun said. "You hurt him and now you’re acting the victim. I’d like to cut your tongue out but I’ll be patient."
Mrs Lee was fuming. Just what in the world was this?
The butler had called to say that he had gotten Dongwoo and was on his way to the hidden house in the woods where they planned to confine Dongwoo, brainwash him, and then send him abroad after faking his death, so why were Seojun and Seojin here?
"You two must be Seojun, Seojin," Mr Lee said, his voice smooth as silk and Mrs Lee turned to him, wondering why he was speaking with a friendly tone towards them. "I’ve heard a lot about you, but it’s nice to see you in person. Your profiles don’t do your personalities justice, I see."
He narrowed his eyes as if sizing them up.
Seojun’s eyes narrowed. "Cut the crap. We didn’t come here with friendly intentions."
Dongwoo’s father smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "Ah, yes. My wife’s... enthusiasm. She’s always discontent and wants to get her hands on what shouldn’t be hers. It’s a bad habit,"
Mrs Lee frowned.
"What sort of nonsense are you spouting right now? And why are you entertaining their presence?" She asked but Mr Lee eyed her and then ignored her.
He saw her as a fool. She didn’t even realize the kind of situation they were in. One slip up and these two angry boys will take out the guns behind their backs and bury a bullet in each other them.
He had read their profiles and discovered that they were both gay. And their lover was none other than his first son whom he thought had been dead for years.
The thought of both his sons being gay disgusted him, and it meant he would probably not have offspring, but what disgusted him more was what his wife did about 30 years ago.
Seojin’s eyes flashed with anger. "You’re not going to pin this all on your wife, are you?"
Dongwoo’s father shrugged. "Why not? It’s the truth." He said, his gaze falling seriously on them. He wasn’t lying and he looked like he was fed up. "She’s the one who’s been pushing for... extreme measures."
"Honey,"
"If you want to make me shut up, you might as well threaten me with next week’s investment deal as well." Mr Lee said, causing Mrs Lee to grit her teeth.
How could he be such a stonehead at a time like this?
"I won’t let you drag me down into this mess with you. They’re both grown up yet you still want to chain the eldest just because you think he’s ’useful’. I said it before but I’ll say it again, you’re out of your mind."
Mrs Lee fumed. This incompetent fool.
Suddenly, Seojin started clapping his hands.
"Great performance." He said. "You’ve convinced us that your wife is the mastermind and that she had a strong reign on you and your company. Now what?" He folded his arms. "Are you going to ask us to let you go? Because I don’t see that happening."
Mr Lee sighed.
"Your wife might’ve plotted all of it, but you’re their father, and you should’ve done something to stop it, but you kept quiet and played along like a doll."
"Yes, exactly." Mr Lee said. "I’m nothing more than a puppet. So, how do I fight back? Have you ever heard of the marionette pulling its strings away from its puppeteer?"
That was a strong argument but that was not strong enough to make Seojun and Seojin give up on this matter.
"But you’re right, I am not without fault." Mr Lee said, his gaze falling slowly. "Out of everyone, I should’ve been the one to take action, using whatever I can to stop my wife since I am their father and she..." He eyed her. "Is not even their mother."
"What?!"
