Chapter 370: I’ll carry you, Hyung
Dongwoo couldn’t believe what had just happened. No, he was still in that nightmare, wasn’t he? He looked at Lily’s once beautiful white shiny fur dyed red.
Seojun’s face was twisted in rage as he walked towards the lifeless body of their attacker. He kicked the gun away from the man’s hand and kicked the body.
How dare he? How dare he kill Dongwoo’s cat? How dare he even think of ambushing them?
As soon as he heard the gunshot, he rushed out and saw what was going on. He didn’t need to be told before he pulled his trigger. He saved them but... He could not save Lily.
Dongwoo’s eyes were still fixed on Lily’s lifeless body. He felt like he’d been punched in the gut. Lily, his lovely and majestic Lily, had sacrificed herself to save him.
Lily was... Dead... right in front of him, lying on the floor lifeless.
His vision was getting blurry. This wasn’t true, was it? Please, he couldn’t handle it.
Seojin gently set Dongwoo down on the floor, his eyes filled with concern. "Hyung, I..." his voice came out in whispers but he could not even finish it. He could not find the words.
What could he say to Dongwoo at a time like this? Nothing would matter.
Dongwoo shook his head, his eyes welling up with tears.
"It’s not..." The words were like a lump in his throat and he swallowed hard. "...your fault," he muffled his words as he felt tears welling up in his eyes. "It’s my fault," she gripped Seojin’s arm right and covered his mouth. "She saved me... She always saved me."
Seojun knelt down beside Dongwoo, his eyes filled with a deep sadness.
"We’ll take care of you, Hyung," he promised. "We will..." He lowered his head. "Protect you."
That was the only thing he could say.
Dongwoo’s shoulders trembled as he cried with muffled sobs. He nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude towards the twins and a wave of sadness towards what he had lost.
They had risked their lives to save him, and Lily did the same but it was unfortunate that she could not make it. She... Did her best.
Seojun showed his back and said,
"I’ll carry you, Hyung." He said and Seojin helped Dongwoo on top of Seojun, supporting him.
The rest of Seojun’s men gathered there, and seeing the heavy atmosphere, did not say anything to annoy them and simply waited for orders.
"Carry the cat," Seojun said. "We’ll need to give her a proper resting place when we’re out of here."
"Yes, boss."
"And..." He glanced back at the rest of the warehouse, which was burning slowly. "Hasten the burn. Let the fire engulf everything quickly and hide all traces."
He wanted to get rid of Dongwoo’s humiliation and pain in this place and only by burning it would they be able to get better at it.
As they walked out of the burning warehouse and Dongwoo crying silently on Seojun’s back, they emerged into the cool night air.
Dongwoo raised his head as he felt a sense of numbness wash over him. He had fallen victim to someone’s scheme and lost Lily.
Who was it? Who was it that wanted him so badly that they would go this far? Who?
"Boss," one of Seojun’s men reported. "We found a vehicle approaching but as soon as they saw the flames, they started to retreat."
"Where are they now?" Seojun asked.
"We changed them and have caught them."
"Good, bring them here." Seojun said and they hurried away.
’It must be the middleman who was meant to pick me up.’ Dongwoo thought and closed his eyes. ’I want answers. I need to know what I did so wrong to deserve this. I...’
"Hyung, sit here first." Seojun said, putting him down and Seojin helped him inside the car. "We’ll get you to the hospital as soon as we’re done here."
Dongwoo nodded.
His condition wasn’t anything too serious so he wanted to see things to the end as well.
He wouldn’t leave until he made sure to know the one behind this.
Seojin decided to do some first aid for him in the meantime, taking care of the wound on his head first and wrapping it.
"Let go of me. Do you know who I work for?" The obnoxious voice of a man in a suit, looking like a butler, echoed as the men dragged him there.
He was unharmed, having a poised appearance and a neatly trimmed goatee under his chin.
They probably didn’t mishandle him.
They brought him forward and threw him down to his knees.
"I’ll have you know that my superiors will not stand for this treatment." The butler said.
"Good, ’cause I’d like to see what your superiors will do when they hear that your body was found floating in the Han River." Seojun threatened and he flinched.
"You wouldn’t dare," The butler said, and Seojun walked up to him, grabbed his hair, and looked him dead in the eye.
"After what you did to my Hyung, I’d very much like to cut you limb from limb and then feed you to the fishes. You think I don’t dare? Let’s test it out." He looked serious and the butler seemed to be scared.
’If I tell them who my superiors are, I’m good as dead, but if I don’t, then I’ll die now. At least I can run away before my superior finds me. I can’t...’ he glanced at Dongwoo sitting in the car. ’... Run away right now. I’ll die. What should I do?’
"The clock is ticking." Seojun said over gritted teeth. "Have you decided to die?"
"No, no. I’ll talk." He answered. "And I’ll even take you to my superiors if you want. Just promise me that you’ll let me live."
"What are you scheming?" Seojun glared at him.
"I’m not scheming anything. I’ve only worked for them for a few years so I’m not that attached to my superiors. I have a life too, you know. If I don’t live, who will take care of my family? I can’t die here, so promise me you will spare me."
"Is that the tone of someone begging for his life?" Seojin asked, and the butler looked up at Seojin, who was glaring with intense rage and hatred. "If you want to live then beg properly."
