Chapter 315: Do you both answer the same name?
Chapter 315: Do you both answer the same name?
That evening, Minwoo drove Dongwoo to the location where they would have their therapy section.
It was a work building, not like their elaborate Wailers building that had a lot of window glass as walls, but a bit modest.
"Let’s take the elevator. It’s the fourth floor." Minwoo said to Dongwoo, who nodded and followed him in.
"So, uh, what should I expect when we get there?" Dongwoo suddenly asked and Minwoo raised his gaze to look at the ceiling of the elevator.
"Questions." Minwoo said. "They’ll ask questions."
"Just that?" Minwoo dropped his head and looked at Dongwoo.
"Hyung, therapy doesn’t always solve your problem. It’s not a magical cure that makes you feel better right away. It takes time and understanding to reach that level. That’s why they say talking about your problems helps make you feel better. When you talk to the therapist, he could give you possible solutions that could divert your mind from whatever pain you’re feeling, or whatever issue you have." He took Dongwoo’s hand. "So, don’t be scared when you get asked questions that you find uncomfortable to answer. I’m right here with you."
Dongwoo looked at Minwoo’s serious face and then at his hand, squeezing his. If anything, he felt Minwoo was the one scared.
He might find it difficult to disclose his problems but... If Minwoo was there with him, he felt he could do it without too many problems.
"Alright," he said, smiling at Minwoo. "You too, Minwoo. Don’t feel scared. I am..." He stepped closer to him and placed his hand on his head, smiling warmly. "Right here with you,"
Minwoo thought Dongwoo would be the one scared but instead of being scared, he was rather excited, which was odd. He had no idea that Dongwoo was a little bit scared but was trying his best to be strong and excited instead, so it would encourage his younger twin that it was alright and that there was nothing to be scared of.
Talking about his problems... He could do that.
The elevator door opened and they walked in. The door of their therapist was just at the end of the corridor.
Minwoo knocked on the door and the calm gentle voice of a lady responded,
"Yes? Come in."
They took deep breaths, let it out, and then opened the door.
The therapist was a woman in her middle fifties, and she was seated behind her desk. She had a pair of spectacles on that accentuated her
She watched the two identical twins walk in and got up from her seat.
"You must be Lee Dongwoo and Lee Minwoo, right?"
"Yes, ma’am." They both chorused and she smiled warmly, gesturing at the couch facing her desk.
"Please, take a seat."
Minwoo was nervous, and so was Dongwoo. But they managed to get to the couch without making their nervousness too vivid.
"So, I hear you have never had therapy," The woman said and then clicked her tongue as she had forgotten to give the most basic and foremost information. "Before I forget, let me introduce myself. I am Hwang Hyun-Iseul. You can call me Mrs Hwang." She smiled politely and they nodded.
"Yes, Mrs Hwang." Their response was cute, prompting Mrs Hwang to let out a satisfied smile.
"You’re both good boys. So, what seems to be the problem?" She placed her notepad in front of her and readied her pen to write down whatever she could.
"Um, that’s..." Minwoo paused. Then, he attempted to speak once more. "So I..." He paused once more. He licked his lips nervously and glanced at Dongwoo sitting next to him.
Honestly, he felt ashamed. He was turning 30 in a few months, yet he couldn’t even talk to a therapist without freezing up. He was scared.
"Hm," Mrs Hwang penned something down and looked up at them. "Let me be blunt with you. I can be very direct and open with my words. So, I hope that doesn’t offend you." They shook their heads.
"Not at all."
"It’s okay."
"Much appreciated. So, which of you is Lee Dongwoo?"
"I am!" They both chorused subconsciously but then realized it and raised their heads to look at her, as it was a bit confusing since they didn’t know who she was actually asking for.
Minwoo only stated the names of the two who would come for a therapy session and did not really specify who was who.
( I hope you get it. It’s like when everyone knows the real Lee Minwoo is Lee Dongwoo, and Fake Lee Minwoo was actually Lee Dongwoo. But they both have Lee Dongwoo on their documents so it was a bit confusing explaining to professional bodies like this without going into details.)
"Hm, that’s peculiar," Mrs Hwang said, finding it quite odd. She knew they were twins but she didn’t know if they were answering the same name, which made them subconsciously answer. "Do you both use the same name, perhaps?"
"Ah, it’s a long story." Minwoo said and proceeded to explain how Dongwoo fell off the cliff when they were young and how he lost his memory, going off to best the name he remembered. His twin’s name.
And in the process, Minwoo started speaking of his problems. He started explaining how miserable he felt after Dongwoo was lost, how he felt so miserable growing up with parents who did not care about him but just looked at him and sneered like he was a disgusting creature growing with the skin of their adored son.
All his achievements, all his efforts, and all his pains... He narrated how they only made him feel burdened. He got stressed but thankfully did not go into drugs.
He tried visiting a therapist once but it all ended in naughty as he couldn’t even explain to them how he was feeling inside.
Dongwoo listened, his heart-crushing at his brother’s words. He could see tears glistening in his eyes but Minwoo was doing his best not to cry.
(My babies (〒﹏〒) I’m crying for you)
"And to take my mind away from the pressure and stress, I decided on..." He fidgeted a bit, nervous. "...I decided to use Sex as my suppressant." He finally let it out. "I didn’t care who I did it with. I didn’t care how they treated me. That momentary pleasure seemed to suppress the pressure for quite some time. But it was just enough for me to take my mind off my predicament and shattered mentality. And when it starts building up again, I just repeat the process. And in the process, I became a sexaholic, if that even is a thing." He raised his gaze to find Mrs Hwang writing down a few things.
They waited till she was done, and then she took off her spectacles, cleaned her eyes, and looked up at them, placing back her spectacles to their position.
"Oh, I’m sorry. I was a bit emotional there." She said. "Quite unprofessional of me, but it is what it is." She nudged her head a bit. "At the end of the day, we’re all humans."
"Yes, I completely understand," Minwoo said, nodding his head.
"So, you are the real Lee Dongwoo," Mrs Hwang said and Minwoo nodded. "And your brother is Lee Minwoo." They both nodded this time around. "Alright. So, Lee Dongwoo, thank you for sharing this difficult aspect of your life. It takes tremendous courage to disclose this difficult part of one’s life. Thank you for trusting me with it." She said in the warmest way possible and Minwoo nodded, pursing his lips.
It had been so difficult indeed. He choked back a few times, trying not to gag at his own words.
"I have highlighted a few things to note about your situation. You’re mentally depressed. You have a sex addiction that you use as a coping mechanism, which is not healthy. This tends to affect relationships. How have you been able to manage your relationships this far?" She asked but Minwoo shook his head, saying,
"Up until recently... I have never been in a stable relationship. I never had sex with a person more than once." He said, avoiding both gaze on him as he felt slightly uncomfortable. "I thought it wasn’t worth it, staying with someone when I had these problems."
"But now you do. That is a good improvement." She said and wrote down a few things.
Minwoo looked down to see Dongwoo tapping his side. He looked up to find Dongwoo giving him two thumbs up and mouthing the words,
’You’re doing great.’
Minwoo smiled at this and mouthed back,
’Thanks, Hyung.’
"Hm, you mentioned ’until recently’, is it safe to assume that you finally entered one?" Minwoo nodded. Though it wasn’t a normal relationship, they were living very much like a couple, and he could not deny the feelings that were growing between them.
He wanted it to last.
"And how is this relationship? Is there any problem?" Minwoo shook his head. "May I ask, why did you change your mind and get into a relationship when you still have this problem?"
"Well, it’s a silly reason but..." He blushed, embarrassed at his thoughts. "...I just thought they looked really nice, acted naive and sweet. And they were willing to help me, instead of going from one individual to another. So, I decided to stay with them a little longer till we got tired of each other. I was certain we would but it’s turning out differently than I imagined."
"In a good light?" Mrs Hwang asked and he nodded.
"Yes, in a good light. I really..." He twiddled his fingers and blushed, thinking of Sungho. "...like them."
