Chapter 305: And to his words, Mrs Lee scoffed
Mrs Lee looked at them in disbelief and then calmed down. She smiled and turned her attention to Dongwoo.
"I don’t know if you’re idiots or you’re just blind. Seriously, the kids these days lack manners." She sighed. "Dongwoo, Minwoo, are you going to let these guys stop you from coming home?"
Home? What home? He could only remember a hellhole.
There was no home to go to.
Minwoo clenched tight on Dongwoo’s hand he happened to be holding. He was... Scared.
"Don’t be childish and come to me. You know," she gave out a particularly friendly smile as she said, "...mother knows best."
"I’d say so myself," Geum Haejoo’s voice responded from the entrance of the Studio and everyone turned their heads to see him walking in with his assistant trailing from behind. "But I’d only say that if they were talking to a kid."
He stopped in front of them and flashed a conniving smile.
"And in this case, I don’t think your opinion is that much needed."
Mrs Lee frowned at Haejoo’s entrance and then sighed.
’A bunch of barbarians.’ she thought.
"Ah, Mrs Lee, did you just cuss at me in your mind?" Haejoo asked, stepping closer, but Mrs Lee did not respond.
She simply tore her gaze away from him and to her sons.
"Alright, boys. Let’s go." She said, like they had an obligation to go with her.
But Minwoo and Dongwoo stood their ground. The intent she was keeping hidden was more dangerous than the show she was displaying.
Just what did she want?
"Oh, she’s ignoring me." Haejoo said and sighed. "Well, it can’t be helped. I’ll just get security to drag you out as you are, not only trespassing, but trying to force my employees away without their consent. It’s working hours, Mrs Lee, so please do not interrupt my company’s workflow any longer."
And to his words, Mrs Lee scoffed.
"And what loss could you possibly accumulate from a few minutes delay? It’s just taking pictures." She said, "That can’t even be considered important. But the business I have with my sons is vital, so I will not be leaving without them."
"And if I don’t want to leave with you?" Dongwoo spoke up and she turned to him.
"What nonsense are you saying, son? Why wouldn’t you want to leave with me?" She asked and her eyes fell on Minwoo. "Ah, did your brother feed you with lies? Is that why you can’t trust me?"
"As a matter of fact, my brother told me nothing." Dongwoo stepped up. "And it’s because I asked him not to tell me anything concerning you or the Lee family."
She frowned at his words but he continued.
"What? Did you think you could just waltz in here, tell me that you’re my biological mother, and I would go with you?"
"Is there a reason not to?" She folded her arms. "You were lost as a kid. We never abandoned you. So, there is no reason why you will not come back with me once you are found."
"But there is." Dongwoo spat out. He was hurt. Why was she thinking it was as light as the surface portrayed? His life... "There is a reason why I can’t and won’t go with you, even if you were my birth mother. I’m sorry ’ma’am’ but to me, you’re nothing but a stranger. The woman who took care of me fed me, and gave me everything is dead, and she will forever be my only guardian. To me, you are nothing but a stranger. And I will not follow a stranger anywhere."
"Wow, I hope that sticks." Haejoo said, hoping to provoke Mrs Lee. He couldn’t insult her directly as she was a woman of high value but with this, he hoped she was more than humiliated.
How dare she walk in her and insult their profession just because she was married to a business magnate.
Mrs Lee clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. How dare he talk so rudely to her? After she pushed him out of her. After she trained and bred him at a young age to be a genius. His talent and success now, everything, had to do with her genes.
So, she would not be treated like that by her own offspring.
"Mother," Minwoo suddenly called and she sharply turned her gaze to him. "...do you remember, two years after Hyung fell off the cliff, you gave up searching? And though I didn’t understand you then. I think I do now." He stepped closer to her and cared to stand up to her so fiercely for the first time. "All you cared about was nothing more than the fame you would’ve acquired through your child genius. You never loved us. I know you never loved me, but for Hyung whom you kept lashing at me for, I came to understand that you never loved him either. You saw us as nothing but disposables!"
Mrs Lee swept her hand across Minwoo’s cheek in a hot slap.
She had madness in her eyes as she glared at her stupid excuse for a son.
"How dare you?" She ranted but Minwoo licked his lip. He tasted blood.
Ah, that was his intention. He needed that hit to get a good reality check.
"How dare you spout such nonsense at me? Disposables? Do you think I would pass through pain and push twins out of my belly just to dispose of them later?" The anger in her eyes raged and she raised her hand to slap him again when he added,
"Only... You don’t push us out of your belly." He glared at her. "A selfish person like you would not pass through that trouble. So, do you want me to spill the truth about that or will you leave us be, ’mother’?"
He glared.
Mrs Lee was shaken by this. Wait, did he know something? No, those files were burnt down immediately. He was just making assumptions based on his feelings. Yes, that was it.
But what if he actually knew about it?
She needed to be cautious. No one must know what happened.
The Kim twins guarded Dongwoo with their bodies and refused to let the guards get anywhere near him. Minwoo, with his bloody lip and bruised cheek, stared at his mother with dead eyes, not wanting to feel anything, not fear or intimidation while standing in front of this woman.
As for others, the rest of the crew were watching this live-action tense drama with bathed breaths and wondering if they would get to see the end of the series.
Things just got even more interesting but unfortunately, they would never get to see the official end of it.
"Ahem!" Haejoo cleared his throat, breaking the tension.
He eyed the Kim twins, who weren’t giving him a face at all, Dongwoo, who was watching as his brother battled his mother, and Mrs Lee, who didn’t want to back down but was contemplating.
"I don’t appreciate that you would disrupt my company’s workflow. So, if I may, I would like to ask you to leave, Mrs Lee. Or I might just have to take legal action. What do you think?"
