Chapter 302: Minwoo made sure to clap the loudest

"Okay, people!" Taiha clapped his hands, drawing the attention of everyone in the studio. "We’ve had an eventful month, a splendid one at that, we crushed haters and showed them whose boss." He announced and everyone laughed, clapping their hands in cheer. "Thank you, thank you. But don’t tell anyone I said that." He added and they laughed.

They were back to work and everyone was as lively as ever.

"It’s August, the end of summer, so we have to get those late summer shoots ready. And good news, we aren’t going to be as busy as we’ve been in the last couple of months after the twins got signed."

"Uh? How’s that good news?" Doha asked. "Doesn’t this mean they get fewer jobs and become less famous?"

"Why don’t you listen to the end of my words before you interrupt?" Taiha asked and she pouted her lips. "As I was saying, it’s not that the twins got less popular and that they’re getting fewer jobs; the company has decided to reduce their workload by filtering jobs that won’t give them enough exposure. So, the small jobs are out, and the big jobs get to stay."

They started murmuring amongst themselves.

Dongwoo understood what he meant by that but taking on only big jobs... Didn’t they need to spend a few more months at their current level before they could start acting ’arrogant’ as the industry would perceive?

He felt this would look bad in their image.

"So, I know what you’re thinking." Taiha said and Dongwoo felt he was talking to him, even if he was referring to the general public. "But you don’t have to worry. Our stars are big names now, so not just anyone who wants to use their face can get their service. They’re going to be wearing different brands and walking down runways from now on so they’re no longer the newcomers of the industry. Let’s give them a round of applause." He waved his hand towards the twins and everyone clapped, turning their gaze to the twins.

Dongwoo clapped, feeling they indeed worked very hard, so they deserved the recognition.

In just a few months after entering the industry, they already got the title of supermodels. They were on a roll.

"And let’s not forget our able-bodied and good-looking photographer who just can’t take a break." Taiha added and Dongwoo paused as everyone shifted their gaze to him, clapping their hands and cheering.

Minwoo made sure to clap the loudest, as his biggest supporter, of course.

Dongwoo didn’t expect this and it made him feel quite conscious and a bit embarrassed.

What was Taiha Sunbae doing? It wasn’t like he was the only one taking the pictures.

And then, he built up courage and yelled out,

"And let’s not forget our amazing director who..." He forgot his words but everyone had already pissed to listen to his words. He was embarrassed, so his face flushed and then he laughed at his own embarrassment, completing his words however he could. "...puts everything together nicely and has our back."

Thankfully, they clapped their hands, hoping he didn’t feel down because he was embarrassed.

"Thank you, thank you." Taiha took the applause proudly and in a joking way too. "Thank you. You’re too kind. Really."

He sighed in relief.

"You did a great job." Jaeho said, nudging his shoulder. "Boss. Not anyone could’ve pulled that off."

Dongwoo rubbed his shoulder, still feeling awkward at his flaw.

"Taiha Sunbae does it just fine." He said, looking down.

"Because he’s done it several times." Jaeho said. "Believe me, you have no idea how many public speeches he’s made during photography seminars that are held twice a year."

"No way. He talks in those?" Dongwoo looked at him surprised and Jaeho nodded. "I’ve always wanted to attend, but I was always short on cash, so I watched it online instead. How I wish I could attend."

"Well, there’s one holding a month from now." Jaeho smiled and then his smile became mischievous. "And who knows? You just might get invited to give a little ’talk’."

Dongwoo looked at him and then laughed.

"You’re funny. Why would I get invited to give a talk? I’m not Meong Taiha." He pointed out, folding his arms.

"Yeah, you’re Lee Dongwoo." He smiled and something about his smile gave Dongwoo a bad feeling.

"Wait, do you... Do you know something that I don’t?" He asked but Jaeho shrugged, refusing to disclose his knowledge. "Jaeho, what is it? Please, tell me."

"But I don’t have anything to tell you." He said and laughed. "Don’t be on high horses. Nothing is going to happen."

"Was something supposed to happen?" Once again, his lips were sealed, making Dongwoo anxious.

"When the time comes, you’ll see." He laughed.

Dongwoo paused his lips and then sighed.

What was the use in getting anxious when nothing was confirmed? Jaeho may just be messing with him.

"Anyway, I have a question for you," Dongwoo said.

"Boss, I’m not going to answer anything about the seminar." Jaeho stood his ground but Dongwoo brushed that away, shaking his head.

"It’s not about the seminar." He said. "It’s about Geumtae and Eunwoo."

"Oh. Then, I’m all ears."

"You know, your method; I just wanted to know if it was ’fine’.’

"Hm, I don’t follow." Jaeho scratched his head.

"So, Geumtae told me he met a guy living abroad online who was consulting him about his pet and that they had so much in common. They get along really well. I wanted to know if it was okay to lie to him like that. What if it backfires?"

Jaeho looked at Dongwoo a bit lost, and realizing something, his eyes widened,

"Holy shit! Are you telling me there’s someone my brother is getting close to online?" He looked genuinely shocked.

"Uh, yes. It’s been more than a month now. I thought... I thought you planned to get him close to Eunwoo since it happened during that time." Dongwoo shook his head, still confused. "Wait, are you saying it’s not your doing?"

"It’s not. We were planning to initiate our plan starting this month, when we were a bit more lax at work." Jaeho said and bit the tip of his thumb. "Argh, to think such a thing would happen. What if my brother falls for whoever that is?"

Dongwoo felt his heart beat rapidly. Oh no, what was going on? He felt like he had made a mistake. He should’ve spoken up about this sooner.

He even advised Geumtae to get close to them, whoever they were.

What were they going to do? What if Geumtae has started falling for his online friend?

And then, a lady, fairly in her sixties walked into the studio with her sharp stilettoes announcing her every step. She stopped, glancing around frantically and then her eyes fell on Dongwoo.

Dongwoo, who was bothered about this current issue did not know a lady was walking up to him.

Everyone stared, wondering who that was.

Could just anyone walk in there now?

What if she was there to make trouble?

Anyway, she got to Dongwoo and grabbed his hand, startling Dongwoo.

"Minwoo, my boy," she said but Dongwoo was confused.

Who was this? And how did she know his real name?

"What are you doing?" He asked. "And..." His eyes fell on her blue eyes, filled with relief and his forehead creased in. "... Who are you?"

"Mother!" Minwoo yelled, causing them all to turn to him. "You have to stop this right away. You’re embarrassing yourself." He rushed towards them and Dongwoo looked at the woman holding his hand carefully.

She glared at Minwoo in disdain and then moved her gaze to look softly at Dongwoo, hurriedly saying the words,

"I’m your mother." She said and Dongwoo’s heart skipped a beat.

Lost for words, Dongwoo gulped down on his salvia and asked,

"My... Mother?"
