Chapter 287: He was glad he had taken that picture on a whim

The internet went on fire. To think that was what actually happened.

Many were in disbelief, finding it hard to accept the fact that Song Haijin, whom they held in high regard, was such a bitchy girl who looked down on others and hit them however she liked.

Peachy.girl- "Ah, this is interesting. She turned out to be a bitch after all."

Jim.and.M- "What the hell is this? Is this video fake? There’s no way my Song Haijin is like that."

Backlasher- "I knew something seemed odd."

Girl.on.fire6- "Ah, so the photographer was the victim and his brother was just looking out for him. How admirable."

Howardchoi- "Where’s Song Haijin’s statement? She has to explain this to us. How can she slap someone just because of a spilled coffee that wasn’t even his fault?"

The internet went on fire again and while so many were battling in the comment section, not wanting to believe that Song Haijin was such a person and that something was wrong somewhere, Dongwoo posted another statement.

’Ah, I’ve been told countless times and also misunderstood as being gay. Let me tell you, it’s because I look like this and I often have red spots on my neck and arms because my skin is super sensitive, people mistake them for love bites, thinking I’d been doing dirty deeds with other guys and that’s why this rumor started. I really haven’t given anyone sexual service just because I want to be on top. What’s on the top anyway? What I want to do is take pictures and enjoy doing what I love. I don’t know what I did to Sing Haijin that she got so pissed at me. Ah, yes. I do remember something that might’ve gotten her so irritated at me. After the dating rumor concerning the Kim twins and her, I approached her to tell the public that there wasn’t anything going on between them. I personally know that, don’t ask me why because it’s obvious. I’m close enough to them to know if something like a relationship is going on between them and my brother is their manager. Even if they don’t tell me, there’s no way their manager wouldn’t know, right? But she told me to mind my business, insisting that I would never know if they had a relationship. I just didn’t want my friends to have a bad relationship, that’s all.’ he accompanied that with a crying emoji and continued, ’Anyway, that might’ve been the cause. Sigh. I don’t hold anything against her. In fact, I wish her the best. And to show my sincerity, below is a picture I took of her. If I hated her, do you really think I would make her look so stunning? It’s your turn to be the judge.’

He posted one of the pictures he had edited. It was a picture of Song Haijin, which he had taken while she was absent-mindedly looking away into the distance. It wasn’t during the shoot and wasn’t part of the official release for ’Adonis’ either, so he felt it was okay to post it.

He was glad he had taken that picture on a whim. All he did was edit it a bit. Giving her radiant colors and making sure she shined like the sun.

This, of course, got everyone speculating if Dongwoo’s words were true after all.

There was no reason why Dongwoo would have such a beautifully taken picture of Song Haijin if he had even the slightest bit of hostility for her.

Song Haijin... Was in trouble.

"It was brilliant," Geumtae said to Dongwoo. "I never would’ve come up with a solution like this."

"Well, there’s nothing that beats the truth, right?" Dongwoo smiled.

"Haha, but I caught a bit of your lie." He said, dropping his hands on Dongwoo’s shoulder and drawing quite close to him. "Red spots from sensitive skin, eh?"

Dongwoo darted his eyes aside and drank from his coffee.

"What are you talking about? My skin is very sensitive." He said but refused to make eye contact, since he knew he was guilty of a lie.

"Hm, is that so? Then, I very much like to test that out?" He said but Dongwoo pushed him away, flustered.

"It’s a lie, I know. But sometimes, you gotta mix a little bit of lies to the truth." He said and rubbed the back of his neck. "And besides, I only mentioned that I have never given my body out for sexual favors. I never said I wasn’t gay. But I never said I was either. They could believe whatever they wanted to believe. It’s their choice."

Geumtae watched him and his lips curled up.

When did Dongwoo become so smart? No, when did he become so outspoken?

Was it because of the twins? Were the ones who influenced him? Well, whatever it was, he was glad that Dongwoo fixed his problem himself and didn’t have to rely on others.

That was a major development that he certainly couldn’t overlook.

"Oh, by the way," Dongwoo looked up at him. "Why was that brat at your company?"

"Hm? Who’s that?" He asked.

"My brother, Jaeho."

As soon as he said that, the doorbell rang and Dongwoo decided to use this as an opportunity to dismiss that topic.

"Oh, look, there’s someone at the door." He said and got up.

Geumtae had seen Jaeho’s face in the video Dooshik had sent, just before he blurred his face.

Dongwoo didn’t know if Jaeho was okay with letting Geumtae know he was working as his assistant. He didn’t mention anything about it.

But in case he didn’t like the idea, he would keep it to himself.

"You’re trying to dismiss the topic, aren’t you?" Geumtae asked, going after him.

"Yep!"

Dongwoo did not even try to deny it. Then, he stopped, just before he opened the door and said,

"If you want to know, why don’t you ask him?" He smiled at him and then stretched his hand out to open the door.

Seojin burst in and hugged Dongwoo right away.

"Wh-what’s this?" Dongwoo asked, shocked at his sudden hug, and watched as Seojun also joined in the hug.

They were suffocating him but wouldn’t say anything till he tapped their backs.

"Can’t...can’t breathe." He said and they let go.

Dongwoo breathed out and looked up at them. They looked at him meekly. There was a smile on their lips but it wasn’t the broad smile they liked to show him or the hypocritical smile that they showed to the public.

It wasn’t a sad smile either.

It was just a little smile that played on their lips, displaying their relief, how proud they were, and a hint of remorse.

"What’s this about?" He asked and Minwoo walked up to him, placed his hand on his head and said,

"We’re just feeling proud, that’s all." He said and laughed. "Well, I am. I don’t know what those fools think." He said and pulled Dongwoo into a tight hug. "I’m so proud of you, Hyung. You settled everything without our help. It’s a first."

"Haha, I know. I felt so confident and knew I could do it." He said and watched Seojun pull Minwoo away from him. He laughed. "I just knew I could. I’m not that useless."

"No, you’re never useless," Seojin said. "You do more than you realize. Your contribution to our lives made us what we are. It’s thanks to you that we can shine and smile without worry. How can you say you’re useless?"

"Hm, now that I think of it..." Dongwoo pretended to think and laughed. "I don’t know the definition of useless at this point." He said and they laughed. Seojun ruffled his hair and Dongwoo asked, "So, is the food ready?"

"Ages ago." Minwoo responded, folding his arms.

"Good, I’m starving." He said and turned to Geumtae. "Would you like to join us for dinner?"

Geumtae, who had simply been watching, saw how the Kim twins, as well as Minwoo, frowned at the idea, making sure he understood that he wasn’t welcome at the dinner table, but that made him want to piss them off, and he smiled, happily accepting the invitation.

"Sure."
