Chapter 288: There is another way
"Gahh! Ahhhh!" Song Haijin yelled, scattering the things on the desk and breaking even the expensive antique vase next to her. "That bastard!"
She saw the post. She saw the reactions and she saw the real video released.
"How did he get his hands on the full video?" She yelled and then grabbed her hair violently. "He’s ruined everything."
Not onlu did Dongwoo reveal what she really did, he also revealed that there was no relationship between her and either of the twins, spoiling the results she wanted.
She wanted them. She wanted their fame and their body but look at this! Look what Lee Dongwoo had done.
Shinwoo sat on the couch, his legs folded and sipping coffee. He had his phone in his hand, playing the video over and over.
"Tsk, you almost ruined his face with those nails of yours." He said and she turned sharply at him.
"Whose side are you on?" She asked and he raised his gaze to look at her. "How can you be considered about that at a time like this? My reputation is falling and it’s all that’s to that disgusting fag! Ahh!" She yelled but Shinwoo had no take on that.
He was just wondering how to get Dongwoo into his hands and do away with him whatever he desired with him.
Ah, just thinking of him squirming and struggling underneath him was already getting him aroused.
He needed to get him fast.
"Hey, are you even listening?" Song Haijin yelled at him and he snapped out of his thoughts. "I need to get back at them."
"No." Shinwoo said, placing his cup of half-drunk coffee down. "No, you’re not going to do that."
"What?!"
"What you’re going to do is make an official announcement, apologizing and blaming whatever happened on female hormones."
"Don’t be silly. That does not solve anything." She said but he shook his head.
"But it does." He said and got up. "Just think of it. It’s not that easy for an artist to come out and apologize. Set your pride aside and say you were wrong. That’s gonna fix a lot of damage."
Song Haijin gave it some thought.
She twitched her lips. Did she have to apologize in public? To that faggot?
She didn’t want to. But... Her reputation was slowly falling.
"Alright," she said. "I’ll release an announcement."
Though she said that, she still wanted to see if there was any other way to get rid of the rumors spreading about her.
There was none. And so, she settled on the announcement.
But coincidentally, her announcement collided with the release of ’Adonis’ front cover magazine.
So, many started speculating that she only released an apology announcement because she didn’t want it to affect her fame, following ’Adonis’.
And because of that, many perceived her apology as insincere.
Though there were still people who believed in her, defending her that she probably passed through a lot before releasing that announcement.
There was a lot of backlash and Song Haijin’s fans dropped gradually.
She was screwed.
"What do I do? What do I do?" She paced like a crazy woman in her living room.
"Calm down." Shinwoo said but she flared at him.
"Calm down?!" She shouted. "You want me to calm down? Look what your stupid suggestion caused."
"Hm, I’m not the one who told you to lay your hand on the photographer in the first place, was I?" He asked, folding his arms in irritation.
"Ahhh, what do you expect from me now?" She yelled, breaking more things.
"Keep that up and your house will be empty." He said.
Song Haijin looked like a real witch now, her eyeliners smeared and forming dark scary circles around her eyes.
Her hair was tattered as she kept pulling on them.
"What do I do?" She asked and saw on the floor. "I can’t end like this."
Shinwoo watched her and shrugged his shoulders.
He walked towards her and reached his hand out to help her up.
"There is one way you can turn the tide." He said and she looked up at him, wondering if he was going to give her one of his funny ideas, the kind that would only put her in a hotter mess. "Haha, don’t look at me like that." He said and took her hand. "I’m your cousin. I mean you no harm."
Shinwoo helped her up and hugged her, showing sympathy as there was no one to stand by her at a time like this.
"I would’ve told you to let it all rest and let time wash away the rumors but..." He looked at her face. "You’re desperate, aren’t you?"
She looked at him with eyes that said yes. She was beyond desperate.
He smiled, brushing her hair aside, and said,
"What you have to do is simple." He said. "You just have to prove that Lee Dongwoo was lying all along. If the world knew he was lying, even one bit, they would start wondering what the motives behind his post were. And with that... " His eyes grew into that of a maniac. "...he will crumble."
"I understand your plan," Song Haijin said, getting out of his hold as he felt creepy all of a sudden. "...but how can I make his words a lie? They were basically true."
"Yes, but, my dear cousin, making a truth a lie isn’t that hard." He said. "...if you make his claim about you having no relationship with the twins false, then there you have it."
Song Haijin thought about it.
Ah, why did she not think of that all along?
It was brilliant.
Shinwoo watched her as she bit her nails, devising the plan she would use to get either one of the twins in bed with her and let the public know that there was indeed something going on between them.
His lips curled up,
’There is another way.’ he thought. ’But I’d like to savor that by myself.’ he rubbed his chin, gazing at the distance. ’If the world saw Lee Dongwoo getting his ass fucked, that would definitely put them against him. He’ll be forever seen as the guy who gives his body out for sexual favors.’ he snickered. ’And then he will no longer have the heart to lift his head. At that time, I’ll open my arms for him. I’ll have him all to myself.’
He cackled, and Song Haijin looked at him, wondering what was making him cackle like a crow at dawn light.
Meanwhile, the crew who were celebrating the fall of Song Haijin and their success with ’Adonis’ regardless were at their favorite barbecue shop, drowning themselves in alcohol and stuffing their faces with meat.
Everyone was merry. That is, everyone but Minwoo.
He kept looking at his phone as if he was expecting a call, but it was running late.
"Minwoo," Dongwoo called and he raised his head. "You’ve only sipped from your glass." He said, and Minwoo looked down at the little tumbler filled with Soju.
He had taken a little sip and nothing more.
"Is something wrong?" Dongwoo asked but he shook his head.
"No, it’s nothing."
But Dongwoo couldn’t take his word for it.
Then, he glanced around and said,
"Come to think of it, I haven’t seen Sungho around lately." He said and Minwoo flinched. "Isn’t he back from his overseas shoot?"
"Ah, I... I don’t know." Minwoo said, averting his eyes.
Sungho had gone out for a month now. It was work, and he kept in touch, but Minwoo was feeling rather... Lonely.
He said he would arrive that day but Minwoo hadn’t gotten his call the whole day.
It was worrying.
’Why am I even worrying?’ he wondered, swirling the rim of his glass. ’It’s not like anything happened to him or anything. It’s been a month. Just a month.’
Dongwoo suddenly snickered and Minwoo looked up at him.
"What is it?" He asked but Dongwoo shook his head.
"Oh, it’s nothing." He said but still laughed, making Minwoo wonder what sort of crazy shenanigans he was entertaining in his head. "You know, that say, distance makes a heart younder."
"What does that mean?" Minwoo asked.
Dongwoo smiled, moved his head closer to him, from across the table, and whispered,
"It means you’re missing Sungho." He said. "And your heart is starting to yearn for him. Which means... You like him."
Minwoo listened to him and sighed, shaking his head.
"This isn’t a fairy tale story, Hyung." He said. "Our relationship isn’t like that so I can’t suddenly have feelings for him simply because he’s absent."
Dongwoo dressed back and shrugged his shoulders.
"Well, you’ll never know." He said. "Love... Love comes in the most unexpected ways." He gulped down his soju and smacked his lips at the harshness of it.
Minwoo looked at his own glass.
He knew what love was and what he was feeling for Sungho was definitely not that. It was... It was...
He pursed his lips.
He didn’t even know what it was anymore.
Then, his phone rang and he picked it up right away, not even checking to see who the caller was.
It was only after he answered that he realized he had answered in haste, and he wanted to compose himself, pretending like he wasn’t expecting his call along when he heard a male husk voice on the line.
"You finally picked up the phone, Dongwoo." The voice said and Minwoo’s lips bent down into a frown.
Why did he have to pick up the call without looking?
"Are you there?" The man asked and he gave out a sigh, while Dongwoo watched him, wondering what was going on that he suddenly frowned. "Your environment is rather noisy. Can you hear me?" He asked.
"Yes, yes I can hear you." Minwoo said and glanced at Dongwoo. "What can I do for you, father?"
Dongwoo flinched.
