Chapter 273: I’m sorry. I didn’t want to faint either

Dongwoo slowly opened his eyes to the ceiling of an unfamiliar environment but he could smell the disinfectant that immediately told him that he was in the hospital.

’Why am I here? Did I faint again?’ he thought and turned his head.

In that fairly bright ward, he could make out three people standing in front of him. They were backing him but he could tell who they were.

Even with his eyes closed, he was confident he would be able to tell.

The air was filled with disinfectant but he could still catch a whiff of the cologne that the twins used and the scent of cherry that followed Minwoo for some reason.

What were they doing? He thought they didn’t get along well.

Seojun noticed Dongwoo had woken up and immediately pointed it out.

"He’s awake." He said and they all turned to him. "Hyung, how are you? How do you feel? Does it hurt anywhere?"

Dongwoo slowly opened his mouth to speak,

"Hm, I..." But his words were not what they expected to hear at all. "I’m hungry." He said.

But nevertheless, it meant he was fine.

"I’ll go get the doctor." Minwoo said and left.

Dongwoo looked at the twins who were staring at him intently and smiled,

"What is it?" He asked.

"Hyung, do you know how it feels to suddenly see you fainted on the floor?" Seojin asked.

"It must’ve been horrible," Dongwoo answered, trying to get up and they supported him. "I’m sorry. I didn’t want to faint either."

"We know, we know." Seojun kissed the top of his head.

"We know it’s not your fault." Seojin added. "But Hyung, if there’s anything troubling you, will you please confide in us?" He asked. "Don’t shoulder it on your own. It may scare you to the point that you feel hurt, but it would hurt us more if we find out about it too late, when the damage can’t be undone."

"Hyung, you said you want to contribute a lot to this relationship, right," Seojun spoke up. "This is how you can do it. Speak up and create fewer instances where you can get hurt. If you’re not hurt, we’re not hurt either. And if neither of us are hurt, we’re all happy and our relationship will blossom."

Dongwoo pursed his lips. He would really like that. But he couldn’t say. He couldn’t say the thing that was aching his heart presently, making him shake and tremble in despair.

The thing, no... The one that was making him act like he was walking on thin ice when he was all by himself.

The one that made him scared.

He wanted to try, at least. He couldn’t be a coward all his life.

"Shall we play the game?" Dongwoo asked with a hopeful and soft gaze. "Let’s play the game."

"Alright. You know the rules. Nod your head if it’s a yes and shake your head if it’s a no."

Dongwoo nodded. He wanted to cry for some reason and they saw it. That look he had on his face as it contorted, and his eyes grew teary. They hugged him.

"Shhh, Hyung, it’s alright. We’re here." Seojin said.

"We won’t let them hurt you, no matter who it is." Seojun assured him.

Dongwoo clutched onto them tightly. He was scared. So scared.

But the funny thing was if he was asked why he was scared, why he was scared of Shinwoo, he would never be able to answer.

The fear was just there, biting and gnawing at his heart

It wasn’t like he held a knife to his throat any day or even a gun. He never held a weapon against him but used his words. His words that were far more sharper than any knife and deadlier than any gun.

And because of that, he was able to instill so much fear in Dongwoo’s heart, mind and soul. Even his body reacted to the mere sight of him.

It was a nightmare.

He did well to stand up to him and break loose from his chain the last time but he wasn’t sure he would be able to pull such a brave stunt a second time and that was because he had realized that there were a lot of dangers that could have followed if he had failed to get Shinwoo arrested that day.

And again, he was reminded how terrible and scary Shinwoo was. He sometimes wished he had never gone against him.

"It’s okay, Hyung. It’s okay."

They tried to calm him down but his heart was heavy. It was so heavy that he felt miserable.

Why was he scared?

He kept asking himself, but no one, nothing, could give him the answer he desired. The answer he craved.

The doctor walked in with Minwoo, and seeing the circumstances, Minwoo signaled the Doctor to go out with him without saying a word.

He didn’t want to alert Dongwoo that they were there.

"If he’s crying then his fear must be serious." The doctor said to Minwoo while they waited outside. "If it’s fear of a person or something related to a traumatic experience, I would suggest he visits a psychologist for therapy."

Minwoo looked at the doctor.

Therapy.

He has gone once but he couldn’t even open his mouth to speak about his problem. He was heavily afflicted then and it looked like Dongwoo was too. So, even if they went to visit a therapist then there was no guarantee that he would talk.

"Please think it through." The doctor said to him as if referring to him. "It may not be easy, and when he visits the phycologist, he may not be able to speak, but... He can still try. It takes time. And if he’s scared, he can go with a relative or friend. Maybe you could go with him."

The doctor seemed rather interested in this topic and it made Minwoo wonder if he was a psychologist as well.

"And don’t get me wrong." The doctor said. "I’m not a psychologist, but I’m a doctor, and I care for my patients. So, if one of them is suffering from trauma, then I would, of course, recommend what I feel is best for them. I hope you understand."

Minwoo nodded.

"Of course, I understand." He said and smiled. "I’ll talk to him about it."

"That would be helpful." The doctor said and then checked his wristwatch. "I’ll come back in a few minutes. Maybe by then, he’s calmed down, and I can check how he’s doing."

Minwoo nodded and bowed his head lightly in respect. The doctor left and Minwoo sighed.

Therapy.

Was that really a good choice?

Well, there was no harm in trying. He would talk to Dongwoo about it.
