Chapter 272: Manager, do you know something that we don’t?
At the hospital, the doctor examined Dongwoo and found that there weren’t any major issues. His heart rate seemed to have accelerated for a while and he was mentally stressed.
"Has he been overworking himself?" He asked but they shook their heads.
"No, no he hasn’t." Seojun answered. "He’s been working in moderation."
"Hm, I see." The doctor took one more look at the chats and then said, "Well, something must’ve triggered his brain cells to start running far more than they should. Was he scared by chance?"
"Scared?" Seojun asked. "What do you mean?"
"There are other ways one’s brain cells spike up and seem like they’ve been overstressed. It’s when the person feels fear. Once they’re scared, their brain spikes up because they try to think of means to get help or hide, things like that. The hearts are in a complex situation and then the brains get affected. So, was he scared before he fainted?"
"I think so." Minwoo answered and Seojun looked back at him, wondering what he was talking about.
Like, he found Dongwoo already fainted so how did he know if he was scared or not?
"In that case, it would appear that reassuring him of whatever fears he has is the best thing to do for him." The Doctor said. "Don’t worry about his condition. He’ll be fine."
"When will he wake up?" Seojun asked.
"About an hour or two." The doctor said, and a nurse walked up to him, whispering an emergency. "Excuse me, I’ll go now."
Minwoo nodded and the doctor left.
As soon as the doctor left, Seojun turned to Minwoo.
"Is there something you’re not telling me?" He asked right away and Minwoo could not say he did not expect it. "How did you know that Hyung was scared before he fainted?" His eyebrows furrowed. "Were you there? Did you abandon him knowing he was scared?"
"Hey!" Minwoo snapped, angry at the accusations Seojun was suddenly throwing at him. "First of all, I wasn’t there. Don’t just throw words like that. It’s infuriating." He folded his arms. "We both know I was busy that time, dealing with that witch, Song Haijin’s issue."
"Then explain." Seojun wasn’t letting it easy.
Minwoo placed his hand on his head and shook his head.
He was equally worried about Dongwoo but he wasn’t going about looking for who to blame. This guy needed to let loose.
The door opened and Seojin walked in.
He went straight to Dongwoo on the bed, brushed his hair back, and asked,
"What did the doctor say?"
"He just fainted." Seojun answered. "He’ll be fine and may wake up in an hour or two." He said, and Seojin gave out a sigh of relief. "But it seems there’s something our manager isn’t telling us."
Seojin turned to Minwoo, who rolled his eyeballs and had this expression that asked, ’Seriously?’
"The doctor asked if Hyung was scared before he fainted and though none of us were there, he somehow knew that Hyung was scared before he fainted."
"Yeah, he was scared." Seojin said, and Seojun, who was the only oblivion one there, turned to Seojin. "This was probably Song Haijin’s doing." He clenched his fists. "She’s crossed the line this time."
Minwoo watched him. Whether or not it was Song Haijin’s doing, he could not clear the fact that Shinwoo was involved.
Shinwoo was...
"Manager," Seojin called and he raised his head. "Do you know something that we don’t?"
Minwoo was confused and he glanced from one to the other. How did he figure out he was hiding something?
"You were contemplating." Seojin said. "Were you contemplating whether to tell us or not? Please do," he approached him. "Tell us what you know. I... I don’t want Hyung to live in fear. What happened?"
Minwoo stared at the desperate look on his face and sighed.
"That assistant," he said, "Shinwoo is his name. And he..." He pursed his lips and looked at Dongwoo on the bed.
Dongwoo did not feel comfortable sharing his story with Shinwoo and he did not know if he would approve of him telling the twins about it either.
But this had gotten to a level where keeping the secret to themselves could put him at even greater risk, so he had no choice.
’Forgive me, Hyung.’ he thought and looked up at the twins waiting for his response. "Shinwoo was Dongwoo Hyung’s ex-boyfriend." He said, and it was like a spark lit up in the heads of the twins.
First, their eyes twitched and then they gritted their teeth, both doing these things at the same time and once again confirming that they were both born from one sperm.
"I know it might upset you but keep that anger for later. You’ve not even heard what that scum did to my brother in the past." He said, and this caught the twin’s interest. "But I’m not going to tell you either."
"Why not?"
"I’m already going as far as telling you this much. I’m only telling you this much because the situation is dire and I don’t want my brother to suffer." He said, stealing glances at Dongwoo on the bed. "This is something that my brother did not want to share with anyone because he was uncomfortable with it."
"Then why did he share it with you?" Seojun asked and Minwoo answered,
"Because I’m his brother and I won’t judge him." He said, but that didn’t make sense to them.
"We would never judge him." They both chorused.
"But you are his lovers." Minwoo shut them down. "And that is even the more reason why he would feel very uncomfortable telling you about a last experience with his ex. Don’t make this hard for him. He already passed through a lot. So, don’t ask him about it."
"So, it was an awful experience." Seojin said and Minwoo nodded.
"He said he was mentally tortured. Do you know what that’s like because I do? It’s not something a person can get over just because you tell them it’s okay and try to stay by their side as much as possible. Yes, love heals a damn lot, but it’s not that easy to erase traces of traumatic experiences."
Yes, they knew that. When they met Dongwoo after so long, his life and everything that revolved around him were nothing but insecurities and fear. The traumatic experiences of the past tied him down and even their advances at the start would spook him.
It took a while before they were able to help me at last.
"Dongwoo Hyung, he... He hoped to bury those experiences after he became happy but that no-do-gooder just happened to show up and remind him that his life was once hell." Minwoo said and sat down feeling frustrated. "He’s scarred. Let’s not... Let’s not open up the wound with questions."
"So, let me get this straight," Seojun said, and Minwoo looked up to see this dangerous look on Seojun’s face like he was going to kill someone. "That bastard, after troubling Hyung’s life in the past, he came back and wants to reopen his wounds?"
"Uh, yeah. I guess you can put it that way." Minwoo said. "He obviously went to Dongwoo Hyung’s office with a purpose and he pretty much achieved it." He got up and approached Dongwoo’s bed and stared at his face. "My poor brother just... Wants to be happy."
"The doctor said to reassure him that his tears can’t get to him." Seojun said. "How do we do that if we can’t even mention what scares him?"
"I don’t know." Minwoo answered. "I really want to help Hyung but... I don’t know how to."
