Chapter 80: Gossip Sites

"Romeo! Have you seen this?!" Kade said as he charged into the Alpha’s office, not giving a damn if Romeo was in a meeting or not.

Romeo let out a breath as he dismissed his Betas.

He understood exactly how Kade was feeling. They both woke up after completing their mating only to find their mates missing.

It wasn’t even a matter of their mates being kidnapped, Helena and Rae willingly left and erased all traces of where they went.

What made everything worse was that it had been almost four months since the two she-wolves had vanished and the trail had gone dry a month ago.

They’d searched packs, human cities, and even Vampire covens to find Helena and Rae but to no avail.

The last clue they’d found was a former member of the old Red River pack saying he spotted them in a human city, after that, nothing.

"You should tell them to stay," Kade said as he tossed his phone to Romeo.

Romeo started at the photo, too stunned to fully process what he was seeing.

It was his sister, Rae with another man, an Alpha he recognized entering a hospital.

"When and where was this taken?" Romeo asked as he looked up at Kade.

"It was on one of those trashy gossip sites," Kade grumbled. "It’s also all over social media."

Romeo nodded as he tried to place where he knew the Alpha.

"Any news about Helena?" he asked his Gamma.

"None," Kade said bitterly. "It’s just this photo of Rae and one of the Sunfire Alphas. Do you know what they’re saying?! They’re saying she’s mated to him and that they’re—"

"Wait, Kade, a Sunfire Alpha?" Neil asked, raising a hand.

"Yeah, that’s Victor Sunstrike, one of the—"

"Five Sunfire city Alphas," Romeo recited as he looked at Neil.

"Am I missing something here?" Daniel asked as he looked at Romoe and Neil.

"Yeah," Romeo said as he handed Kade back his phone. "Guess who lived in Sunfire city before coming here."

"The Luna," Daniel said.

"We’ve been trying to reach out to them but they never respond," Neil told Romeo.

"I have a bunch of warriors stationed at their border, they’ve been there for over two months," Kade hissed. "Romeo asked me to put them there."

Romeo shrugged.

"I’d suspected that Helena might try to go to Sunfire City, she has connections there," Romoe said as he balled his hands into a fist.

Neil raised an eyebrow at him but said nothing.

"What do you plan to do?" Daniel finally asked.

"I just want to see her, to talk to her," Romeo said as he looked down at his hands. "I doubt the Alphas will let us through before the Blood Moon Ball."

"But they are obliged to let you visit during the ball," Neil said with a nod, understanding Romeo’s intention.

"I’ll see her then, but before that, I need to make sure she doesn’t run," he said with a frown.

This was not how he’d envisioned his first months of being mated to go. He had been looking forward to spending a lot of time with her in the bedroom.

"We can send warriors to monitor the exits of Sunfire," Kade suggested.

"Make it discreet, we don’t want to spook the Sunfire Alphas," Romeo told Kade, glaring at him.

He knew Kade was furious that his mate was seen with one of the Alphas but his sister had the right to explain herself to Kade.

"I also have another plan," Romeo said with a grin. "They won’t let me in, but I’m sure they’ll let Mom."

Kade looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

"Will she go?" he asked Romeo.

"For her girls, she will," Romeo said with full confidence. "Let’s go find her."

He led the group as they marched out of his office in search of the former Luna.

At first, they checked into the new house that his father and stepmother called home with Rebecca, but it was empty.

She wasn’t in the packhouse either.

Eventually, they found Alyssa in the pack hospital with Raul and Rebecca.

"Mom!" Romeo greeted, grinning.

"Oh no, I know that look," Raul groaned. "You got a lead."

Romeo nodded as he waved for Kade to hand over his phone.

"Not just any lead," Romeo boasted as he handed the phone over to his parents. "She’s in Sunfire, they’re both at Sunfire, I was right she was headed back."

Raul and Alyssa looked the the phone and scrolled through the article.

"This is a gossip site," Raul pointed out.

"And the article is about, Rae and her being mated the a Sunfire Alpha," Alyssa said, shaking her head.

Both she and Raul looked at Kade with a sympathetic look on their eyes.

"Where Rae is, Helena is for sure," Romeo said confidently.

"And as you said, Luna, that’s a gossip site I’m sure there’s an explanation for all of this," Kade said with gritted teeth as he resisted the urge to say something that may hurt him and his mate.

"The Sunfire Alphas are a trusted ally," Raul said. "They wouldn’t do anything that could jeopardize the alliance."

Raul then turned to his son.

"What do you plan to do?" he asked Romeo.

"I doubt they’ll let me within the city," Romeo sighed. "If Helena doesn’t want me there they won’t let me near."

Raul nodded feeling bad for his son.

"But I’ve already confirmed that I’m coming to the Blood Moon ball in a week, so I just have to wait for that," he told his father. "But we need to make sure Helena is there and that she’s safe. So I came up with a plan."

Romeo’s gaze went to Alyssa, who gave him a soft smile and nodded.

"Nope," Romeo said as he got in between his mate and son. "You are not putting your mother at risk."

"But he’s not," Alyssa said, shaking her head. "I’ll be visiting my daughters and I’ll be bringing Rebecca with me."
