Is It Wrong To Love My StepBrother Alpha Mate? -
Chapter 112: More Than
Chapter 112: More Than
"Gamma Norris, Beta Daniel," Helena greeted as she entered the kitchen with little Ronan strapped on her chest.
The former Gamma and current Beta were left speechless as the two-week-old Ronan opened his eyes and locked them down with his intense stare.
Helena waited for the baby to cry, but he remained silent allowing his mom to put him down in the bassinet by the breakfast bar.
"Is that—?" Daniel asked as he looked at the baby.
"By the goddess—" Gamma Norris gasped.
"Better get that conversation out of the way, Helena," Alyssa chuckled as she placed a plate in front of her daughter. "Before they misunderstand."
Helena threw back her head and laughed.
"What is there to misunderstand, Mom?" Helena asked.
"Well, you weren’t exactly a blushing virgin when you and Romeo first slept together," Rae said as she joined them in the kitchen, giving the baby a kiss. "My little nephew is so handsome! Aren’t you Ronan?"
"Well that confirms it," Gamma Norris said with a whistle. "Congratulations Helena, I’m sure Romeo will be thrilled when he finds out."
"Wait, what am I missing?" Daniel asked as he looked around the room.
"Blackmoon family naming tradition," Gamma Norris said as he took a bite out of his pancake. "Always starts with an R, plus he’s named after the former Alpha, and look at that kid."
Daniel craned his neck to look at the little boy and sighed.
"Is that what the Alpha looked like as a baby?" he asked Gamma Norris.
"Pretty much, except for those eyes, those eyes are Sage eyes," he chuckled.
"Sage?" Daniel asked.
"My father’s family name," Helena explained to Daniel.
"Damn, so that’s the next Alpha," Daniel said as he watched the baby.
"Romeo’s going to be so pissed," Rae chuckled.
"This means Helena was already pregnant when she left Blackmoon," Gamma Norris pointed out. "Did you know?"
"I did," Helena answered confidently.
"You should have brought someone that could protect you," Gamma Norris scolded.
"I’m strong enough to protect myself and my son," Helena huffed. "Plus Rae was with me."
"Is your wolf back yet?" Alyssa said, interrupting the conversation. "I remember when I gave birth to you my wolf rested for a month."
Helena nodded.
"I can feel her stirring, but she hasn’t spoken yet," Helena told her mother.
"Our wolves need more time to heal since they were busy healing us," she told her daughter.
"Okay, so I was thinking you might want to take a tour of the city?" Helena suggested. "Then we can head to the library cause there’s something I want to check out."
"A library?" Daniel asked, confused and utterly lost.
"The Sunfire City library is one of the biggest and most comprehensive in the world," Gamma Norris explained. "It’s not as boring as it sounds."
"What are you planning, Helena?" Alyssa asked her daughter as she held her down with a glare.
"I need to learn more about Dad’s side and what’s happening," Helena told Alyssa. "There has to be a way to contact Grandpa."
Alyssa sighed and shook her head.
"Your Grandfather made a sacrifice to keep you safe, Helena," Alyssa reminded her. "Be careful."
Helena nodded in response.
"See you all in an hour, I’ll call for a car," she said as she picked Ronan up and headed to her room to change.
Getting a baby ready for his first trip outside of the house was quite tiring. Helena wanted to just rest after, but she really wanted to show everyone Sunfire City and she had to go to the library.
The sooner she found a way to contact her grandfather, the sooner they could go home.
Helena was not surprised to find Victor and Jonathan waiting for them in the basement when they arrived.
"Don’t you two have to work?" Helena grumbled. "There’s a Blood Moon coming soon."
"We’re excellent planners," Victor boasted.
"Plus there are five of us," Jonathan added.
"Let’s go," Helena grumbled as they got into the cars waiting for them.
Victor made Helena and Rae get into the car with him while Rebecca and Alyssa rode with Jonathan.
Norris and Daniel got their own car and Helena was certain that was all planned by the Alphas.
"I could have driven us around," Helena grumbled as she watched their convoy pull out of the parking lot.
Aside from the three cars, there were four more cars that probably carried warriors for their security.
"You wouldn’t have brought the warriors with you," Victor pointed out. "Plus you just gave birth, Helena. You should take it slow."
Helena rolled her eyes and ignored Victor most of the time.
They visited the Packhouse, which was mainly a place where Sunfire City affairs were conducted, and each pack had its own wing.
Daniel, who’d never visited other packs that much was so stunned by the packhouse that he kept asking Helena if they could have something like it in Blackmoon.
Helena laughed him off while thinking that they might need something like that. They were eventually going to be a pack comprised of two branches, they would need a bigger pack house and a better way of facilitating everything.
"Did you and Dad ever consider turning Blackmoon into a place like this?" Helena asked Alyssa as they strolled through one of the many parks in Sunfire.
"Blackmoon was too small at the time," Alyssa said with a shrug. "It was Romeo’s involvement that brought it to new heights and how there’s even more land and members than the five Sunfire packs."
"Blackmoon is bigger than this place, we might need to do something soon," Helena hummed.
"Romeo has also grown the company to a whole different level, so that’s something to consider as well," Alyssa told her.
Helena nodded as she thought of what the future could hold for them. Blackmoon was still like a small town, but with the number of pack members they had it might have to change soon.
She couldn’t help but wonder if they’d face any resistance with it.
"Helena," Alyssa said, drawing her from her thoughts. "Romeo is Alpha now, you’re Luna and someday Alpha too. It’s your pack, trust your gut because we all have faith in you."
By the time they reached their final stop, everyone was in awe of Sunfire City, including Alyssa who’d been there many times in the past.
"Sunfire City Library," Victor announced as his driver stopped at the entrance of the steel building.
"So, how many times have you entered this building?" Rae teased.
"I’ll let you know that I come here at least once a week," Victor scoffed.
"Mind holding Ronan for me?" Helena asked as she offered the sleeping boy to Rae.
"Sure," Rae said as she took her nephew and cradled him.
Helena got out of the car and made her way into the library with one goal in mind, finding what she could about the witches and warlocks.
"Helena!" the librarian, a tall willowy wolf with red hair tied up in a bun greeted her. "You’re back! For good?"
"No," Helena said, shaking her head. "Bella, I need help with something."
"What do you need?" Bella asked Helena as they walked through the library.
"Information on Witches and Warlocks, particularly after they all vanished, and if you have information on how to contact the Grand Warlock," Helena told her.
"Oh," Bella said as she suddenly stopped in her tracks. "The Alphas need to approve something like that. I don’t know if I can show you those documents since they’re considered restricted."
"Glad to hear that our librarian is following the rules even for someone like Helena," Victor said as he walked into the library with Ronan in his arms and Rae right next to him.
"You guys are a walking scandal," Helena said, rolling her eyes.
"She has permission, Bella," Victor announced.
"A few paparazzi already snapped photos," Rae giggled. "Since Romeo and I look alike it will be easy for people to think Ronan is mine."
Helena sighed and shook her head.
"Kade is going to challenge that dufus," Helena told Rae.
"I’ll stop him," Rae told Helena. "Victor is helping me so I’ll stop it."
Helena nodded and turned her attention back to Bella.
"He’s yours?" Bella asked as she glanced at the sleeping baby.
"Mine and my mates," Helena confirmed. "Now the documents?"
"Right, right," Bella said as she quickly snapped into action.
Helena could tell that Bella had read differently into her statement, she wasn’t sure how talkative the librarian was, but there was a risk there would be a new name attached to Victor’s.
The restricted documents were all on a different floor from the rest of the library.
It was in the basement and protected by various biometric locks.
Eventually, Bella led Helena to a door that was simply marked with a number.
"I’ll leave you here, the locks only work one way, so you’ll be able to get out," Bella informed Helena.
"Thank you," Helena said with a nod as Bella opened the door and let Helena enter.
Inside were books and files stacked on shelves, all properly labeled.
