Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1214 - 1214: Surrounded

While they were waiting, Rain paid attention to both arms a bit more… it wasn't unusual for that word to pop out in settings like that, but Rain still felt a bit troubled by using the word… demons. The beasts on one side could only be described as that.

On one side of the battlefield, the monstrous army resembled demons in their truest, most nightmarish form. Their bodies appeared as if devoid of the first layer of skin, revealing a grotesque sight that pulsed with corrupt energy. Dark, curved wings extended from their backs, casting eerie shadows on the desolate landscape.

Spiraling horns adorned their heads, giving an ominous and twisted appearance. Claws, sharp as bone, extended from their fingers, and fangs made of the same bone-like material adorned their menacing grins. Every aspect of their appearance screamed demonic as if they were creatures born from the darkest depths of nightmare and corruption.

The atmosphere around them was tainted with malevolence, amplifying the horror that their demonic forms inspired on the battlefield.

"They remind me a bit of the first dragons with that grotesque form," Elisabetha said.

"It is good that you can recall them without making me enraged as well… resetting the sins path was truly the best choice," Rain said. "Regardless… their energy feels a bit different from what I saw from the first dragons."

"The first dragons on our planet used the genetic makeup of the living beings there; those creatures probably are the living beings of a planet very different from ours," Elisabetha said.

"Makes sense…" Rain thought and then checked the red sphere in his hand.

Rain could feel half of the king in the shadows presence there… he didn't want to check his mental landscape, but it seemed that his plan worked, and he managed to seal at least half of that guy's power and essence with some luck, that had weakened by half the original.

"Can you see him?" Rain asked.

"Yes, he is very noisy…" Elisabetha replied.

"Try to get as much information from him as possible, even without his shadow magic. We should be able to get something out of him that will benefit all of us," Rain said. "If all else fails, I will just turn him into the core of a weapon."

"I am on it," Elisabetha said.

It didn't take long for things to get noisy again… the two arms began to move to battle… they started by using long ranged attacks firing those massive energy spheres and lasers toward each other. It seemed that the robot side had the upper hand since their attacks could hit the spheres of energy and make them explode in the air, but some of them landed after absorbing the lasers.

The result was quite impressive… some of the robots only lost a limb or two for those attacks… they were incredibly tough. It goes without saying, but they kept fighting even in that state.

When the melee fight started, the battlefield transformed into sheer chaos. The humanoid robots morphed their arms into spinning blades, slashing through the disfigured monsters with ruthless precision. The metallic limbs cut through flesh and bone, causing blood to rain down across the entire battleground. The air was filled with the gruesome sounds of tearing and slicing.

On the opposing side, the monstrous creatures exhibited their formidable strength. They grabbed hold of the robotic entities, tossing them around as if they were mere playthings, and then mercilessly smashed them onto the scorched earth. In a display of raw power, some monsters even tore apart the robotic arms and legs using their own hands, creating a gruesome spectacle of destruction.

The clash between these two otherworldly forces unleashed a torrent of violence, creating a vivid scene of carnage and brutality on the scarred battlefield. Each side fought with a relentless determination, adding a new layer of intensity to the already tumultuous situation.

Amidst the chaos, Rain saw the robots bleeding if that was even possible… it seemed like their fuel, but it was too red, like blood, to be any kind of fuel that Rain could think of. That was really worrisome…

"Captain… half an hour has already passed," One of the team members said.

"... We finished the challenge faster, and there are no signs for those outside the castle to know when the battle ended aside from keeping trying to challenge the king," Rain said. "They might be a bit late for that reason."

Although Rain sounded sure of himself, he couldn't deny that it was a bit suspicious… even if the king in the shadows didn't lose half of his power thanks to him, Sealyn still should have been able to defeat him even faster by going all out.

While I was thinking about that, the battle of the endless armies raged on for quite a while… only after one hour did their numbers fall enough that both forces decided to retreat… Sealyn's group hadn't arrived yet, and the bodies also soon disappeared from the battlefield, leaving only pieces of flesh and the red liquid behind.

"Sealyn, where are you?" Rain said, trying to use Telepathy.

Rain used mana, so the spell worked, but he didn't hear anything in response… while massaging his eyebrows, he couldn't help but assume that the mana on the ambient was affecting the communications.

"I should have created that path already and turned that into a skill…" Rain thought. "I put too much faith into this."

Unfortunately, Rain didn't have much time to think about that… in the distance, he could see some creatures approaching… they were the winged monsters. On the other side, while emitting some sort of blast from under their feet, Rain could see the robots flying toward them as well…

"I have the feeling that they didn't come to welcome us," Rain said. "Prepare to fight, and we will have to protect this place until the next group arrives. We don't have any other choice but to fight.
