Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1213 - 1213: New enemies

Caught off guard, Rain's attention was abruptly moved to the two massive forces that emerged on both sides. To his left, a horde of disfigured monsters, twisted and grotesque, stood as an eerie army. On his right, an army of humanoid robots, their metallic forms gleaming ominously, ready for battle. The unexpected appearance of these opposing forces created a sense of chaos on the battlefield.

The area around them bore the scars of intense conflict. Craters covered the landscape, evidence of powerful clashes that had taken place. The once fertile land now lay barren and burned, a testament to the destructive forces at play. The sky above had taken on an unnatural orange hue, casting an eerie glow over the devastated terrain.

As Rain watched the surroundings, he realized that the air itself was tainted with something dangerous. Every breath he took seemed to sap away his health. The atmosphere was thick with an unseen menace, making each breath a dangerous act. Despite his formidable abilities, Rain couldn't escape the impact of this toxic environment, adding a new layer of challenge to the already chaotic situation.

"Stay together, and don't drop your guard!" Rain said. "We can't move now… at least not that much."

Rain saw some mountains ahead, half-destroyed mountains, and not many things behind him. There were only five hundred meters of land and then nothing… probably a massive creator behind. They could fly, too, but before he could decide that, the armies on both sides attacked them.

Flying monsters went upward and then raised their arms. Almost instantly, they cast above them some massive spheres of red and orange energy… that didn't seem like the concentration of fire magic.

On the other side, the robots began to fire lasers at them… Rain erected his domain to block the attacks… lasers crossed all that distance in the blink of an eye, after all. Still, Rain's domain trembled with each attack, and his mana began to fall at an astonishing rate.

"We are out of here…" Rain said and then activated the water mirror technique.

Rain and his team decided to dash to the mountains, but much to his surprise, the monsters fired their spheres of energy toward them… they could sense him… that was a first.

"Captain, save your energy and let us block the damage as well," One of Rain's team members said.

"Save your energy and just heal yourselves. Even my domain can't protect us from this toxic atmosphere," Rain said. "Our health still is dropping."

As Rain and his team sprinted towards the mountains, a strange sensation enveloped them. They felt their noses tingling, and soon, blood began to fall from them. The toxic atmosphere was taking its toll, and the team quickly realized the urgency of healing themselves to counter the damage.

It was a race against time as they continued their dash towards the mountains, desperate to find some respite from the dangerous environment. The good thing from that was the fact that neither of the armies were moving… they didn't appear to be on good terms…

Amidst their healing efforts, the first spheres of energy launched by the flying monsters struck them. The impact was brutal, and Rain's erected domain trembled violently under the assault. The team felt the shockwaves, and the realization hit them that even Rain's defenses were struggling to withstand the onslaught.

As the first direct attack consumed ten percent of Rain's mana, a sense of disbelief washed over him... The sheer power and relentlessness of the assault left him momentarily speechless, realizing the magnitude of the challenge he faced in this toxic and hostile environment.

"This is many times more powerful than the meteor of the dragon god…" Rain thought.

The group entered a battlefield of unknown proportions… the amazing thing was the fact that the attack only opened a five-meter-tall crater… if compared to the other ones, that was almost like a joke.

Regardless, Rain zigzagged around the area and avoided the spheres of energy, but the lasers were annoying… they kept hitting him left and right until Rain and his teammates reached the mountains… the enemies didn't decide to chase them since they were busy with each other.

"It seems things did a 180 in a short amount of time," Elisabetha said.

The previous two zones had been fairly calm for them… to the point that it felt like Rain was being punished for not staying in those places. In any case, Rain decreased the size of his domain and then used healing magic around to fight the toxic air that ignored his defenses.

Rain turned around and then looked at the area once more… those two armies were about to engage in a crazy battle, so it would be bad if the next group were to appear as soon as the battle started. Fortunately, the second team was Sealyn's, and with her strength and with the help of Nigel, she wouldn't go down that easily…

"Can you feel the mana around us?" Elisabetha asked. "I feel like I am back to that annoying box."

Rain could only silently nod as Elisabetha mentioned the mana levels in the area. They both sensed the overwhelming presence of mana, not just in the air but also in the very ground beneath them. It explained the remarkable durability of the landscape, which could endure spells consuming at least fifty thousand points of mana or the equivalent energy used by the attacking monsters.

In response to the challenging environment, Rain decided to take advantage of the situation. He grabbed one of his weapons and, using the points he had accumulated, copied it. Despite being in a dire situation, the ability to duplicate weapons provided them with a valuable resource within the prison-like zone.

But the real issue was the fact that such a system still worked… they were still in the prison…

"We are on the border of two territories apparently… it isn't a good idea to stay here, but we will have to wait for the orders," Rain declared.
