Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1215 - 1215: Damage

Rain's teammates nodded in unison, understanding the necessity of working together in that confrontation. The enemies, perhaps underestimating Rain's group or facing limitations in their available forces, dispatched only ten targets in each group toward them. Without hesitation, Rain and his team split up to face the two distinct threats.

Rain confronted the demonic entities. He approached them while using Impulse on the ground, but soon, he jumped toward them when they raised their arms and began to charge those energy spheres.

Still, when he was about to hit those three, the others got in his way… at close range, Rain was finally able to tell that they were two times taller and bigger than him… it was hard to notice that from a distance. Regardless, he punched one of the beasts with all his might, but the creature still grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the others.

The grip of the beast was strong. Even when the three demons fired their spheres of energy, the monster didn't let go of Rain. The explosion in the atmosphere was massive, causing the air to quiver with released energy, and the temperature surged exponentially. However, as soon as the smoke dissipated, they found their friend half dead on the ground and Rain below the creature.

In the next moment, he split the creature in two with the ominous sword and tossed the sides away. He is mainly unscathed… he tossed one of the arms of the monster away… freed himself like that, and used the beast as a shield.

"Only retards use suicide attacks from the very beginning… huh?" Rain said.

Rain realized that he hadn't received any notification from any of the systems… that shouldn't be possible… then when he looked at the body of the monster, he saw the creature regenerating even in that state. Before Rain could try to finish the job, five other demons flew toward him, ready to attack with their massive claws.

"Let me pierce their bodies for a moment," Elisabetha said.

Rain disappeared from the sight of the demons when they were about to attack him. In the next moment, one of them was pierced from behind, thanks to the power of the ominous sword, and Elisabetha had the chance to confirm what was going on.

"They have three hearts… I would assume that you have to destroy all of them to kill them for good," Elisabetha said.

"Are you serious?" Rain asked.

The corrupt energy was so strong on them that Rain couldn't even begin to tell or sense where their hertz were located. Knowing his luck and the craziness of the situation, it was very likely that different demons would have hearts in different places, and perhaps they could have even more of them.

Rain's analysis of the demons' demeanor revealed some truth. As he observed their gaze, it became evident that these creatures were consumed by rage. Their eyes reflected a primal thirst and hunger, likely a consequence of the sins' corrupting influence.

It seemed that expecting any form of intelligent strategy or coherent thought in the midst of battle was futile. The demons were driven solely by their aggressive instincts, making them unpredictable and even more dangerous adversaries. Rain braced himself for the impending clash, aware that he needed to navigate this fight with caution given the frenzied state of his demonic opponents.

"I don't have time for this…" Rain thought as he kicked away the monster that he had just pierced.

The other demons began to surround Rain and then raised them, pointed their arms toward him, and fired a barrage of energy spheres toward him… they lost in terms of power, but their massive number was enough to overwhelm Rain.

In the end, Rain let those hit him for a short while until he filled the ominous sword with enough energy, and then he used Impulse toward one of the demons and pierced his chest. In the next moment, the monster froze in a matter of moments and then when Rain pulled the ominous sword, the demon fell apart.

The skill Frozen Throne received 10.000 experience points.

The skill Frostbite received 10.000 experience points.

The skill Snow Field received 10.000 experience points.

That much experience… it was on the same level as evolved dragons. Still, when Rain reappeared… his body was completely messed up. It felt like he had been hit by spheres of acid that ate away his flesh.

"Nine to go…" Rain said while he felt the wounded parts, it felt like they were being eaten by something.

Rain was lucky that the wounds were still quite superficial and they didn't reach his bones and muscles, but only a few hits on the same spot would be enough for that.

Instead of letting the enemies attack again, Rain disappeared from their field of vision using his short-range movement technique… before the beasts could understand what had happened, Rain pierced their bodies and killed them all after turning them into ice statues.

"The skills that surpassed the level one hundred are gaining crazy amounts of experience…" Rain thought when he began to heal himself and then saw his teammates having a hard time against the robotic enemies. "Their chainsaw-like arms have enough power to even shatter the mana shields that endured the shadow blades, huh?"

Maybe Rain shouldn't be that surprised over it... who knows for how long those beasts had been fighting?
