Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1176 - 1176: Birds of a feather

The acknowledgment of his change in approach surprised some, but many in the room nodded in agreement.

"We can't let them set the terms of engagement," Rain continued. "We need to gather our strength, strike first, and disrupt whatever plans they might have. Waiting for them to make a move puts us at a disadvantage. We need to control the flow of the battle."

The group, now understanding the gravity of their situation, began to discuss the logistics of the plan. The need for coordination, communication, and strategic positioning became apparent.

"Isa doesn't like to fight that much, but she is a great research, so she can stay behind and help others learn how to create their own domain," Regis said. "Is that fine with you, Isa?"

"It is," Isa said.

"We will need people to help with management here as well. We probably won't need that for a while on the frontlines, so you should stay here too," Sealyn said.

"Hmm… I suppose you have a point," Regis said.

Regis, despite being a decent fighter who reached the third zone by himself, recognized that his skills were better suited for strategic planning and coordination. His decision to stay behind carried significant weight – he would likely be the linchpin for managing resources, organizing defenses, and ensuring that the group left behind could hold their own in the absence of the main force.

Sealyn, on the other hand, was a skilled warrior, and she was likely to join the frontlines. Her combat prowess and experience made her an invaluable asset in direct confrontations. The absence of Esmeralda, while concerning, couldn't be helped. In times like these, it became apparent that everyone needed to stick to what they were good at.

Each individual's strengths and expertise were crucial for the success of the upcoming battles. The decision to assign roles based on individual strengths showcased a pragmatic approach, ensuring that every member played a role aligned with their capabilities for the greater good of the group.

"We will need some more people to help train the others and make sure that they will join the frontlines in time," Regis added. "Who are the best people suited for that kind of job?"

"Grandfather Roan and Dad, I guess," Sealyn said. "One raised the raging phoenix, and the other trained the one who trained the raging phoenix."

"I didn't train Rain at all," Roan said. "He is completely self-taught."

Putting that aside, Roan was one of those who had the most experience in fighting, training, and teaching, so it made sense that he should stay behind. He didn't mind it either, considering that Leiah's parents would have to stay behind to make up for the missing presence of Esmeralda, so she would have to stay behind and protect them as well.

The idea of leaving Rain behind also made sense, but since Isa would stay behind, they needed someone who could deploy a perfect and large domain. He was the only one who could do that. The best person, in fact…

"Seadir can stay behind, but Rain needs to go to the frontlines," Seadrei said. "He is the one who is the link between the relics and us, and he understands them better. It goes without saying that they need to go as well."

"Indeed…" Regis nodded. "If you don't mind, I would like to keep my guards with me as well. They might not be very useful without following my commands."

Regis had not engaged in any overtly suspicious actions thus far, but his tendency to make weird remarks and decisions that often raised eyebrows was becoming increasingly noticeable.

Whether it was a deliberate choice, a quirk, or perhaps just a unique communication style, it was challenging to discern his true intentions. At this point, it remained unclear whether it was a mere hobby of creating an air of mystery or an unintentional bad habit that had formed over time.

So, aside from the three thousand warriors that once worked for the band, thirty people would head to the next zone. Among them were Rain, Seara, Sealy, Terra, Annie, Dannie, Jori, Reca, their kids, Liss, Asche, Seadrei, Van, Dana, Kei, and Gila. Each one of them would command one hundred of those warriors as they see fit and work together to improve the situation in the next zone.

The challenges there were supposed to be harder after all.

If nothing happened until then, they were supposed to leave in five days, and they had to use that time to get used to each other and improving their abilities as well.

"What is wrong? Are you worried about leading people again?" Terra asked. "Or are you disappointed that there are no snake girls and fox women in your group?"

"I see that Elisabetha and you two are birds of a feather," Rain said. "She looked like the type who would stalk her exes with a knife in hand."

"Objection," Elisabetha said.

"You object? Even though you made me learn the Wrath's path?" Rain asked. "Objection denied."

"Just make them learn Limit Breaker and Magic Boost and use every single drop of their energy to level up those techniques," Seara said. "I am going to do that like there is no tomorrow. If that isn't enough, nothing else would have been enough."

Rain's unease about leading others came from a deep sense of responsibility and a conflicting desire to protect his loved ones. Despite his capabilities to guide and strengthen the group, the burden of potential casualties weighed heavily on him.

His commitment to the safety of his family and friends was unwavering, and he admitted to himself that he would go to extreme lengths, even using others as a shield, if necessary, to ensure their well-being.

This internal conflict shows the complexity of Rain's character, torn between his instincts and the ruthless pragmatism he acknowledged within himself. The impending challenges in the next zone only intensified these internal struggles, setting the stage for a complex and emotional journey ahead.
