Chapter 65: If you do not reject me, I would be honored to have you as my father-in-law!

Twenty centimeters... is that the length of a hand?

Caster and Guinevere paused for a moment, instinctively glancing at Le Cheng’s hands. They hadn’t noticed before, but upon closer inspection, to their surprise, they discovered Le Cheng’s hands were actually quite beautiful. Far from the roughness typical of most men’s hands, his were exceptionally clean and tidy, even delicate and slender like a woman’s.

Then, they looked at their own hands. Before they would have found no faults, perhaps just a tad small, but in comparison with Le Cheng’s, theirs were certainly not as attractive.

Pondering this, they couldn’t help but feel a bit self-conscious.

Caster murmured, "Mine are probably only about seventeen centimeters."

Guinevere pouted, saying sourly, "Mine might only be sixteen centimeters."

"Sixteen, seventeen..." Le Cheng stroked his chin, "Hmm, with only that much depth, the compatibility doesn’t seem great, but it’s okay. You can gradually develop a better fit with time, so there’s no need for self-consciousness."

Depth? Compatibility? What are those?

Weren’t we just talking about hand size?

Le Cheng’s attempt at comforting just made them more confused.

Then, Le Cheng laughed, "Since we’ve shared our secrets, let’s work hard together."

"Work hard together?"

"Yep, deceiving the entire world, helping a bastard daughter ascend to the throne, such an interesting undertaking. You wouldn’t exclude me, would you? If you’re thinking of kicking me out, I may have to report you for concocting a lesbian affair."

Caster looked troubled, "Mr. Le Cheng, this is not a trivial matter. If things go wrong, it could lead to capital punishment. Besides, I’m just one of the heirs, and it’s still uncertain whether I can pull out the Sword of King Selection. I don’t want too many people tangled up in my affairs."

"For the sake of your name, if you can’t pull out the Sword of King Selection, I’ll swallow dung and take my own life!" Le Cheng declared emphatically, ignoring Caster’s troubled expression and Guinevere’s surprise, making a firm decision, "Alright then, this is happily decided. Anyone who disagrees is a little dog."

Caster couldn’t help but have mixed feelings. Although the potential rewards were high, they were nothing compared to the risks involved. After all, any rational person would hardly support a powerless and influence-less heir like him. He couldn’t fathom why Le Cheng was so confident in him.

But Guinevere quickly accepted the reality. Their secrets were out, and at this point, other than silencing their knowledge, the only option was to enlist him.

"However, we need to deal with the immediate crisis first... Come out, Crazy 3!"

Suddenly, Le Cheng slapped his belt, and both saw a human head float out from his belt.

Just a head.

"Ah!" Witnessing the sudden appearance of the head, Caster managed to keep his composure with only a slight change in his expression, while Guinevere was scared pale, screaming and quickly hiding behind Caster.

"Eh, Crazy 3, how come you’ve only got a head left? Where’s your body?" Le Cheng looked around but didn’t find Elizabeth’s body, asking out of curiosity.

Elizabeth squinted her eyes, not looking to be in great spirits, and shook her head, "I don’t know, might have dropped it somewhere... And please, call me Elizabeth."

I mean, normally that’s not something you can just drop.

Le Cheng examined her closely, feeling that this was beyond his understanding, "Well, what do you feel right now?"

"Feel? Let me see..." Elizabeth’s head did a spin in midair and then darted up, down, left, and right for a while before answering, "I don’t feel much different from usual, except a bit less free, yet somehow freer."

Le Cheng nodded, it seemed that not only had this guy lost his body, but his brain had lost its logic too. However, it didn’t matter, a head alone could still be of use.

"Tonight, go investigate the village, especially keep an eye on the chief’s movements, let’s see what those guys are really up to."

"Okay."

Elizabeth simply acknowledged and then flew straight out through the roof.

It wasn’t until Elizabeth’s... head left that Guinevere’s shocked expression began to ease, and Caster cautiously asked, "Le Cheng, sir, could it be that you are a Dead Spirit Wizard?"

Dead Spirit Wizards are a branch of Mages, usually dealing with the dead spirits and corpses. Although there’s nothing wrong with the magic itself, because the dead spirits and corpses they enslave and control often have relatives and friends when alive, wherever they go, they are met with resistance. Also, because they always interact with the dead spirits and corpses, their behaviour seems eccentric and abnormal, and their personality tends to become distorted, leading them to live very solitary lives.

To this day, the Dead Spirit Wizard sect still exists but has become quite marginalized.

But to say Le Cheng is a Dead Spirit Wizard... that doesn’t quite fit the image.

"What Dead Spirit Wizard? Do I look that gloomy and introverted to you?" Le Cheng curled his lip and corrected, "At most, I would be considered a Dead Spirit Knight."

Dead Spirit Knight? What’s that?

Caster was puzzled by this term, but whether it’s a Dead Spirit Knight or a Dead Spirit Wizard, he didn’t have any particular opinions. After all, the real enemy of this world is Khorne, the Catastrophe Legion. When the Catastrophe Legion brings destruction and slaughter to the world, even the Dead Spirit Wizards stand with the Empire, fighting the Catastrophe Legion to the end, so he didn’t hold any aversion to this sect.

What he was more concerned about was something else.

"Mr. Le Cheng, why did you have...that girl investigate the village just now?"

Thump, thump, thump.

Before Le Cheng could answer, there was a sudden knock at the door.

The three people inside the room fell silent, Caster asked, "Who is it?"

"It’s me."

"It’s me... making such a grand statement as if the whole world knows you, who the fuck are you?" Le Cheng quieted down because he went to open the door. As he opened it, he shouted at the person outside, and with the cold wind gushing in, all three people inside and outside stiffened.

Caster and Guinevere covered their faces with their hands, unable to bear looking directly.

Gawain standing outside was also dumbstruck.

As an Imperial Knight, he had a duty to protect the people, and he had been busy with the refuge issues for everyone. Now that he finally had a moment to spare, he came to check on Caster, but he never expected to be greeted with a barrage of scolding before he even saw Caster.

Looking at the unfamiliar face of Le Cheng, he wanted to ask: Who the fuck are you?

Of course, a civilized Imperial Knight couldn’t curse, so he just straightened his face, with a few hints of questioning and vigilance on his handsome visage.

"I am Gawain, the Imperial Forbidden Army Knight Commander. This is the residence of Caster and Guinevere, right? And who might you be? Why are you here?"

Upon hearing this, Le Cheng’s face showed a look of astonishment, and he clasped his hands in salute.

"Having wandered half my life, I regret not meeting a noble leader; today, hearing Sir’s profound insights is like seeing the sun through the clouds, an epiphany. If you would not forsake me, I am willing to acknowledge you as my father-in-law!"
