Chapter 44: Fulfilling His Promise To His Parents.

Inside the Dust Valley Sect, the sect master had just completed his daily meeting with the Supreme Elder when his Spirit Link vibrated.

He furrowed his brows and took out his Spirit Link, glancing at the new message. He wondered who would send him a message.

Apart from a few elders, his wife, and his son, he didn’t share his contact with anyone else.

Still, he opened the message and saw that it was from his son. As he read, a deep frown appeared on his face.

"What is he up to this time?" he muttered, though a look of expectation flashed through his eyes.

Without hesitation, he left the grand hall and went to see his wife.

"Did you receive a message from Jian’er?" his wife asked as he entered the villa.

"Yes." He nodded and asked, "What do you think he’s up to this time?"

"I don’t know, but we’ll find out. Do you still remember his promise?" Her eyes gleamed with anticipation.

"Yes! How could I forget?" he mused. "Give me a minute to handle the sect affairs. We’ll depart afterward."

As they prepared to rush to their son’s location, Mo Jian was making arrangements for their arrival.

Apart from the cultivation chamber, his parents needed an Earth-grade cultivation manual to help them break through to the Golden Core Realm.

Thus, without hesitation, he spent 20,000 IP to buy two Earth-grade cultivation techniques: Gilded Lotus Art for his mother and Mystic True Qi Refinement Art for his father.

Both could be cultivated to the Nascent Soul stage.

The value of these two techniques alone could spark a war in the outside world.

Seated on a boulder beneath a massive tree, Mo Jian gazed at the serene forest, but he knew it was an illusion.

The forest might appear beautiful and calm on the surface, but the dangers lurking within were not small.

After two hours, he sensed two powerful presences rushing toward him from a particular direction. Slowly, a light smile crept onto his face.

"Jian’er... What are you doing all alone in this forest? Don’t you know how dangerous it is?" His mother couldn’t help but panic when she saw her only son sitting alone in the perilous forest.

His father wore a deep frown but chose not to speak. He trusted that his son must have a reason for his reckless actions.

Mo Jian smiled and jumped down from the boulder.

"Mother, don’t worry. This place is very safe. Besides, the beasts have retreated deeper into the forest’s core region. As for the vengeful spirits, they’re nothing against my sword."

His confident words and composed demeanor left his parents speechless. They exchanged glances and sighed. What could they do?

"Father, Mother, do you remember my promise to help you?"

"Yes... So is that why we’re here?" his father asked curiously, his gaze wandering around in search of anything unusual.

His mother was also scanning their surroundings.

Then, her eyes landed on Mo Jian, and she exclaimed, "You’ve reached Foundation Realm stage-3!"

"What?" His father’s eyes widened as he stared at Mo Jian in disbelief. "H-How...?"

Seeing their shocked expressions, Mo Jian rubbed the back of his head and muttered shamelessly, "I’m just lucky."

Lucky!

Why was it always luck?

Why couldn’t they, or anyone else be as lucky as him?

His promotion from Mortal Rank-1 to Foundation Realm in less than three months was unheard of.

They knew their son had a huge secret but chose not to pry. In the cultivation world, strange occurrences were not uncommon.

Thus, they believed their son had simply been fortunate enough to receive a powerful inheritance.

Recovering from their shock, his father could only advise, "Don’t rush to break through. Consolidate your realm for a strong foundation."

"I know, Father," Mo Jian nodded. "Father, Mother... I want you to have these."

He handed them the manuals he had prepared.

Their curiosity grew as they accepted the books, but the moment they opened and read them, their eyes widened in shock.

"This...impossible!" The words erupted like a strangled whisper, disbelief etching deep lines across his face.

His mother’s hands began to shake, the manual nearly slipping from her grasp.

Her eyes darted between the sacred techniques and her son, a whirlwind of shock and incomprehension.

How?

When?

Who taught or gave him these extraordinary techniques?

"D-Do you know what this is?" His mother’s voice trembled.

"I know," Mo Jian nodded calmly.

His father shook his head. "Son, you don’t understand. The battle for Earth-grade techniques is far more dangerous than you can imagine."

Seeing their reaction, Mo Jian realized he might have underestimated the value of an Earth-grade technique. Still, even if he had known, he wouldn’t have hesitated to give it to them.

His father wore a solemn expression. "Did you show these techniques to anyone?"

"No."

"Good." His parents sighed in relief.

"Never tell anyone you have an Earth-grade technique," his mother warned again.

"Father, Mother, I’m not a child. I know what I’m doing. Just because I’m giving it to you freely doesn’t mean I’d be foolish enough to hand it over to others."

"With how much I love money, do you think I’d make such a huge mistake?"

His parents were stunned for a moment before they chuckled. That was true. Their son’s love for money was second to none.

"So, what do you think of the techniques? Are they compatible with you?" Mo Jian asked.

His father wanted to smack him.

What did he mean, are they compatible?

"Thank you," his father said despite his urge to reprimand his son.

"Father, you don’t need to thank me. I’m your son, and it’s my responsibility to help you," Mo Jian said seriously.

"Hahaha, my son is filial," his mother laughed and reached out to ruffle his hair, but he quickly stepped back.

"With these, we can break through to the Golden Core Realm in two to five years," his father announced confidently.

"What?! I thought you’d breakthrough in a month or less," Mo Jian scoffed.

Clicking his tongue, his father retorted, "Do you think it’s that easy to reach the Golden Core Realm? You know nothing."

"Really?" Mo Jian shook his head. "Follow me. With this, I hope you can speed up your breakthrough."

His parents were confused.

Weren’t the techniques the opportunity he wanted to give them?

They arrived at a location but found nothing extraordinary—just an endless forest.

Without a word, Mo Jian took out a badge and held it forward. Instantly, a pathway appeared before them.

"This..."

"T-This is a formation," his mother whispered in shock.

Mo Jian nodded and led them inside. Within the formation stood an ordinary-looking hill, but this time, his parents didn’t dare underestimate it.

Their son had given them so many surprises that they had learned to take nothing at face value.

"This will be our holy ground from now on," Mo Jian declared.

His parents exchanged glances but said nothing, waiting for him to reveal what he meant.

He led them to the side of the hill and handed each of them a badge.

"Father, this is your cultivation cave. And Mother..." He pointed a few feet away. "That will be your cave. Use your badge to enter."

Curious, his father activated his badge immediately. The concealing formation vanished, and the stone door slid open.

"This..."

"Wait for the surprise," Mo Jian said mysteriously.

His parents exchanged another glance, their curiosity growing.

At the cave’s center was a complex formation. Without waiting for Mo Jian, his father sat at the heart of the array and activated it with a portion of his spiritual energy.

Behold, pure spiritual energy surged from beneath, filling the cave within moments. Feeling its purity, their jaws dropped in astonishment.

"What do you think? This is my promise to you," Mo Jian said proudly.

His parents were speechless. Their son had shocked them so many times that they no longer knew how to react.

"I know how you’re feeling, but don’t overthink it," Mo Jian grinned.

"Mother, let Father cultivate. I hope when he comes out, he’ll be a Golden Core expert and won’t make any excuses."

His father’s face darkened.

"Rascal! Do you want a beating?"

"Tsk! If you can’t break through in two months, don’t brag about your younger days again." Mo Jian scoffed before dashing out of the cave with a playful smirk.
