Chapter 43: Top Grade Spiritual Vein.
Chapter 43: Top Grade Spiritual Vein.
Deep in the western border forest, the wails of vengeful spirits echoed in the air, occasionally accompanied by the roar of beasts.
Tall trees and thick shrubs stretched as far as the eye could see.
At the northern part of the forest, three people clad in armor sat at the foot of a small hill, their expressions exhausted.
Their robes were torn, and their bodies were covered in bruises and cuts.
"What do you think is inside this hill?" one of them asked, a young man.
"It must be something important and rare," the only woman among them responded, staring at the ordinary-looking hill.
The young man looked at the hill, his curiosity growing. "Should we try to find out?"
"Stop. We’ve completed our mission. Now, let’s wait for the young master’s arrival," the team leader snapped, glaring at the young man.
The young man wanted to protest but met the piercing gaze of the captain. He swallowed whatever he had in mind.
He knew how dangerous the captain was—someone who wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice anyone to complete his mission.
With the young man silent, no one spoke as they each became lost in thought.
Screech!
From a distance, a group of vengeful spirits appeared, their glowing eyes fixed on the three humans.
Without turning his head, the captain ordered, "The next person should clear them."
"Ah! Can’t we get a break from this unending killing?" the young man cried out, picking up his weapon unwillingly.
He had long lost count of how many vengeful wisps and restless phantoms he had killed over the past few days.
When the vengeful spirits saw the human approaching, they screeched loudly and charged at him.
Bang!
Before the young man could attack, a deadly sword strike roared like raging thunder, cutting through the vengeful spirits from behind.
Whoosh!
Screech!
All the vengeful spirits were slain in a single, clean strike, and a young man appeared.
The young man froze for a moment before shouting, "Young Master!"
When the others heard him, they immediately got to their feet and looked at Mo Jian in shock.
How could he have arrived so quickly?
Mo Jian, seeing the looks on their faces, only smiled. "How have you all been?"
He walked toward them, scanning the area with a sharp, knowing gaze.
"Young Master, we’re alright, but sadly, we lost two men," the captain muttered, his voice laced with sorrow.
"Don’t worry, their families will be compensated."
He had already accounted for the possibility that not all of them would return alive and had made arrangements for the deceased.
When the captain and his men heard this, bright smiles appeared on their faces. Their greatest fear had been abated. Now, they could finally rest in peace.
"Where is the location?" Mo Jian asked, turning to the captain.
"Young Master, this way."
The captain took out the Pulse-Seeking Compass and led him to the hill.
Hum!
The compass vibrated violently, pointing directly at the hill.
Looking at it, Mo Jian asked, "Have you tried walking behind the hill?"
"Yes, but the compass still points to the hill."
"Good! Give me the compass."
Taking the compass, Mo Jian examined it for a moment and nodded. The reading is strong. I hope it’s what I think it is.
"You can return," he commanded without looking at them.
"Yes, Young Master."
The three heaved a sigh of relief, quickly packed their gear, and left. Their mission was complete.
After the team departed, Mo Jian turned to the ordinary-looking hill, a bright smile creeping onto his lips.
"What are you hiding?" he muttered, stepping forward.
He took out an array flag from his spatial pouch and began setting up a Concealing Formation around the hill.
If his guess was correct, a top-grade Spiritual Vein was hidden deep within the hill.
That would explain why the vegetation around the hill remained lush and green despite the extreme yin energy from the vengeful wisps.
Not that he was complaining. Without the vengeful spirits, powerful beasts wouldn’t have left their homes and retreated deeper into the forest.
After thirty minutes, he had completed the Concealing Formation—but he wasn’t done yet.
He took out another array flag and began setting up a Trapping Formation.
This was to trap the pure spiritual energy and prevent it from escaping when he started digging.
If he had broken through to the Foundation Realm, setting up such a massive formation would have exhausted him.
But as he was now, he was only slightly tired upon completion.
With both the Concealing Formation and Trapping Formation in place, Mo Jian was confident that no one would detect the hill, nor would any spiritual energy leak out.
Without delay, he began digging.
For an hour, he dug, creating a tunnel wide enough for a person to move freely downward—just like a cave.
By the time he reached the core of the hill, the tunnel was over five hundred meters deep.
Finally, with the help of the Pulse-Seeking Compass, he arrived at the heart of the hill.
Lo and behold, a massive purple crystal, shining brightly, appeared before him.
"Huh!" He gasped and quickly retreated; his face filled with dread.
After retreating more than two hundred meters, he sat down and began regulating his Qi, which was running rampant.
Exposure to extreme pure spiritual energy could cause weak cultivators to suffer meridian ruptures—or worse, Qi deviation.
And that was exactly what had happened to him.
Half an hour later, Mo Jian stood up, wiping the beads of sweat from his forehead.
"That was close!"
He hadn’t expected that after finding the spiritual vein, he would almost be killed by it.
I was careless. He shook his head, realizing his mistake.
Without dwelling on it, he sealed his cultivation and meridians before returning to the spiritual vein.
This time, nothing happened.
Looking at the massive vein, his eyes shone as he muttered, "A top-grade Spiritual Vein."
"Hahaha!" His laughter echoed throughout the cave.
In the Western Region, there wasn’t even a mid-grade spiritual vein, let alone a top-grade one.
The spiritual vein within the sect was a low-grade one, nearly dried up.
But with this, everything would change.
His parents would finally have a chance to break through to the Golden Core Realm.
Once he recovered from his excitement, he began setting up an array formation to seal it.
The Five Element Sealing Formation was a powerful array that even Golden Core Realm experts wouldn’t be able to see through.
After that, he set up the Spirit Essence Transfer Array, allowing the pure spiritual energy to be directed to different locations around the hill.
With his preparations complete, he activated the formation and collapsed the tunnel.
On the surface, he created two cultivation caves and set up the Spirit Essence Receiving Array, Spirit Gathering Array, and Spirit Resonance Array.
When everything was done, he wiped the sweat from his brow, a bright smile on his face.
"Let me test it before I call my parents," he muttered, sitting at the heart of the formation.
Whoosh!
As he activated the array, pure spiritual energy surged from the ground, filling the cave within seconds.
With each passing moment, the spiritual energy became so dense it turned into mist.
"Hah! Only my parents can cultivate at this level. For others, I must lower the intensity." He mused before beginning to cultivate.
Pop!
After just ten minutes, he broke through to Foundation Realm Stage-3.
"Oh my! This is a hundred times faster than using spirit stones!" he exclaimed in shock.
