Chapter 100: Ambush!

Under the veil of the night, a carriage slowly departed from the Western District.

Its departure captured the hearts of many greedy people. The carriage looked ordinary, without any symbol of the powerful clan.

Thus...

Inside the carriage, Zhao Tian looked at Mo Jian with a worried expression.

"Young Master, I don’t think it is a good idea to show such a huge amount to those people. I think they might attack us to steal your wealth."

Mo Jian looked at Zhao Tian with a knowing smile. "Do you think we are going to have an easier stay in this city if we stay low-key?" he asked.

Zhao Tian thought for a moment before he responded. "I don’t know, but I believe if we slowly accumulate our strength, it would be easy to stop any unnecessary problem that might arise in the future."

"How long would that be?"

"Two to three months to say the least."

"Hahahah.!" Mo Jian laughed and shook his head. "That’s a good plan if we’re planning to stay in this city for a long time."

"Unfortunately, we’re not. Apart from the medium-sized store, we’re not expanding our business. This is just a pit stop."

"In two weeks, we’re continuing our travels. Why do you think we’ve made such a massive preparation for our travels?"

Before Zhao Tian could respond, he continued. "Our goal is the central region. Every city in between is just a pit stop."

"So do you understand why staying low-key is unnecessary?"

Zhao Tian nodded with a look of realization. "Now, I understand."

Bang!

Just as the carriage passed through a narrow, quiet alley between the Western District and the Central District—

A terrifying strike landed on the carriage. However, just as the sword strike was about to hit the carriage, a defensive formation appeared and blocked the attack.

Seated in the coach seat were Elder Bin and the withered old man. Quickly, they jumped off from their seats and looked in the direction of the attack.

In the distance, there was a group of people rushing toward the carriage. Among them were two Early Core Refining warriors.

As for the others, they were between Intermediate and Peak Foundation Realm.

Whoosh!

A terrifying pressure befell the incoming group as the withered old man raised his hand and sent a powerful palm strike.

Boom!

The two Early Core Refining warriors did not have time to react before they were sent flying.

For the Foundation Realm warriors, it was as if a heavy mountain crashed into their bodies.

Quickly, various miserable screams echoed in the quiet alley.

The old withered man ignored the weak; his attention was on the two Core Refining warriors who dared to attack them.

Against a Peak Core Refining warrior, what could two Early Core Refining warriors do?

Ahhhhh!

The old withered man crushed their necks and flung them away as if they were nothing.

In the distance, Elder Bin killed each of the Foundation Realms, crushing their skulls to pieces.

The previously quiet alley was filled with the thick stench of blood.

However, instead of leaving, they turned their heads and looked in a certain direction.

At the top of the three-story building, a battle was going on. Three Intermediate Core Refining warriors were battling two Core Refining warriors.

"T-this... is... a misund...."

Ahhhh!

Without completing his statement, his head was severed from his neck, his blood gushing out like a broken pipe.

Watching his partner’s miserable death, the last Core Refining warrior trembled and tried to escape.

Ahhhh!

Before he could move, a deadly sharp strike severed his arm while a punch rammed into his chest.

His ribs were pulverized, and he puked a mouthful of blood. But that was not all, as the last attack was already before his eyes.

Whoosh!

A thin dagger went through his neck.

He gasped and held his neck. Looking at the three black-robed men, a look of unwillingness appeared on his face.

He was not ready to die.

This was supposed to be a simple mission.

Why did it turn out like this?

Splash!

A thin line appeared on his neck, and blood splattered to the ground.

Thud!

He fell to his knees, and his head rolled off his neck.

When the three Intermediate Core Refining warriors saw this, they nodded at each other and vanished into thin air.

In the alley, Elder Xu Bin and the withered old man looked at each other and returned to the carriage.

Slowly, the carriage departed from the now quiet alley, leaving the traces of the short battle.

A few minutes later, a group of people came out of their hiding, their faces etched with nervousness and shock.

Who would have expected the very big fish would be a fierce tiger?

The thieves looked at one another and, without uttering a word, escaped at their fastest speed.

Back at Boss Kun’s place, he sat on his big couch while eating the juicy fruit happily.

Beside him was the opened box filled with one million lower-grade spirit stones.

"Hahaha. My luck has been good lately." He grinned. "I guess it’s only a matter of time before I accumulate enough to allow me to break through to the Core Refining Realm peak stage."

Creak!

Just as he was lost in his wild fantasy, a door was pushed open, and an old man rushed inside.

"Boss..." the old man called, his voice filled with urgency.

"What? Has the mission been completed?" Boss Kun asked, not raising his head while a wild grin was plastered on his face.

"Boss... the mission failed. All our men were killed."

"Hahaha. I know—" He paused and raised his head in disbelief. "What did you just say?!" he shouted.

"They failed, and they all died."

"Impossible! How could this be?" Boss Kun barked, getting up on his feet.

The old man did not speak, lowering his head in nervousness.

Boss Kun was known for his unpredictable actions when angry. Thus, the best action was to be muted, hoping you wouldn’t be targeted.

After pacing back and forth for a moment, he took a deep breath.

"I guess I underestimated my opponent." He grinned. "Anyone that could hire the Xu Clan would not be an easy opponent."

"But if they think they can get away with my money... Hahaha." His sardonic laughter echoed in the quiet room.

"Send some men to keep an eye on them." he commanded.

He is Kun; no one had ever escaped from his clutch, and this won’t be any different.

Thinking of this, an evil, greedy smile crept up his lips.

...

The following day, behind the Western District, a quiet, secluded street filled with empty buildings stood.

Not many knew of this street.

This was the famous black market of the Purple Stone City.

In one of the medium-sized buildings, Mo Jian and Zhao Tian checked the building.

"Get some men. We need to renovate it to my design." Mo Jian said.

This was the black market; they needed to be prepared for anything.

"I’m on it." Zhao Tian nodded as he quickly departed.

Five hours later, the building had undergone a massive reconstruction.

It was expanded, but the lobby was smaller with a small counter. And beside the counter was a small door that led to a narrow corridor.

In the corridor were many doors, and beside the doors was something that looked like a window, but it was a display shelf.

This allowed customers to know which product they were going to buy.

Apart from that, it maintained their privacy while also allowing the store to prepare for any unforeseen accident.

Slowly, it was nighttime.

The previously quiet street began to come alive. Many people dressed in black robes with masks covering their faces walked on the street.

Before midnight, everywhere was bustling like a normal market.

Among the throng of people, a young man dressed in a long black robe with a lion mask roamed the street.

’So boring. I thought they said I could find many interesting things in the black market,’ he mused.

’After today, I don’t know when I can sneak out again.’

’Every day it’s training, training. Everything is just boring.’

While he was lost in thought, he arrived in front of a medium-sized store.

"Hmm!" He raised his brow and looked at the eye-catching nameplate.

Thousand Wealth Store!

"This is quite bold. Who would dare give a name to their store in the black market?" He shook his head.

In the black market, it was an unwritten rule not to display anything revealing your identity.

Anyone that does it won’t have any customers or anyone to trade with them.

Those in the black market were majority thieves or fugitives. And if they saw such a bold nameplate, it was a no-go area.

"I’m curious. Let’s see what they’re all about."

With that, the boy entered the Thousand Wealth Chamber.

Inside the chamber, it was dimly lit, and a middle-aged woman sat behind a small counter.

Looking at the middle-aged woman, the boy approached her and prepared to speak. She pointed to the board beside her.

Reading the rules, the boy was stunned for a moment.

No talking.

Ten thousand lower-grade spirit stones for deposit. When you’re done trading, it will be returned to you.

’Hahaha. This is getting more interesting,’ he thought and took out ten thousand spirit stones from his spatial pouch.

When she received the deposit, she gave him a tag and pointed to the small door.

Without hesitating, he walked toward the door with his eyes filled with anticipation and curiosity.

He had been to the black market many times; this was the first time he witnessed such meticulous planning.

’Hahaha. I hope they won’t disappoint me,’ he thought and entered through the small door.
