Chapter 229: 229. The Oil

The temperature was so hot and Anna didn’t want to torture herself by going out of the base at that time. As for other time, it was either the sky was too dark or too early and might not be able to return in time.

Anna had confidence in her strength.

But she didn’t know how she would perform if she were to be attacked by others in the middle of the night outside.

It was harder to look at her surroundings when it was dark.

She didn’t want be overconfident and overestimated her strength, so Anna refused to go out. It was not very important either, so Anna didn’t go out during this period of time at all.

The barrels that Anna took out was a bit small. At the very least, it was possible to put them her car. After thinking for a bit, Anna folded the chair in the backseat so that there was enough space.

She put the removed chair to her space and then put the barrels containing unprocessed oil inside. Two big barrels were put inside her car and three smaller barrel were put in the trunk.

Anyway, she couldn’t use them.

There was still a bit more of oil in her space, but there was not enough space in her car to put these.

’How about tying it above the car?’

Anna took out three more big barrels and after filling the barrel until it was full, the oil in her space was finally run out. She sighed in relief and felt that even if she only took a little bit at that time because she was tired, the final amount was still a lot. She took the barrel in to her space and put them on top of the car. After that, Anna took out ropes and tied the three barrels tightly.

It was only after making sure that it was safe did Anna entered the car and drive back to the base.

When she returned, it was obvious that some people were looking in her direction, but Anna didn’t explain and only made her way to the mission hall. She put down these barrels and dragged them to the exchange center.

"Wow, you bring so many items, Anna." Lucas was doing his round in the mission hall when he saw the barrels Anna brought.

"Yeah." Anna nodded and looked at Lucas with a grin. "Care to help? I’ll give you a few contribution points."

"Sure." Lucas laughed.

He could guess that there should be something valuable inside that could allow Anna to exchange for contribution points. While he didn’t lack contribution points, getting a few more wouldn’t hurt.

The sound of water from the barrel could be heard as he rolled them.

"What’s inside? Liquid?"

"It’s in liquid form," Anna replied.

Lucas looked at Anna speechlessly. Even he knew that the content was in the form of liquid. What he wanted to ask was what was inside these.

Anyway, with Lucas’ help, Anna managed to drag all eight barrels to the mission hall. She put them all inside and it ended up being so cramped. The machines would have to work quickly to exchange these things.

"Can I see?" Lucas asked politely.

It was up to Anna whether to let others know about this or not. After all, it was her privacy. But Lucas was curious, so he asked.

"Yeah, just enter."

"Ok."

Lucas smiled brightly and then closed the door. The scanned had already started to scan the first barrel and Anna opened the lid, letting the scanner to analyze the component inside the barrel.

"That’s... gasoline?" Lucas asked. The familiar smell of oil entered his nose.

"No," Anna replied. "It’s unprocessed oil."

Unprocessed?

Lucas was surprised. "Where did you find it?"

"From the factory," Anna replied.

Factory?

There were indeed some factories that used these, but he didn’t expect Anna was able to take them out. Aren’t they all put underground?

While Lucas was a bit surprised, but he didn’t ask more. He only looked at the scanner that was finally able to evaluate the price and Anna handed all barrels to the counter. Of course, Lucas helped because these barrels were indeed heavy.

"You and Dylan are both amazing. There are so many resources that you two traded," Lucas commented with a sigh.

"Dylan exchanged a lot of resources?" Anna asked in surprise.

"Yeah, he cooperated with several people and managed to get a lot of supplies. They’re all traded to the base and the total amount might have reached 100,000 contribution points," Lucas replied.

Anna was silent.

No wonder Dylan often go out in the past few weeks. He should be able to exchange information, using his truck or other things and got the portion of the contribution points from other teams.

She should have expected that no matter where they were, Dylan was able to get rich.

She shook her head lightly. "It’s just like Dylan."

The brat that multiplied his pocket money now worked on his own and managed to multiply his own resources.

"You’re also doing great." Lucas lifted the barrel and his expression contorted a bit. The barrel was heavy and it was not that easy for him to lift it even with his practice.

"I’m not that diligent to go out and use this chance to get rich," Anna replied.

She knew that there might be a chance for her to get rich out there, but her somewhat lazy nature and also insensitiveness didn’t allow her to utilize her advantage to the fullest.

Besides, Anna was actually already quite satisfied with her current life.

There was no need for her to be extremely rich as long as she was able to fill her material needs enough.

Probably, this kind of mentality was what restricted her from going further but at the same time, it was this thought that let her to be content and happy with what she had without any unrealistic thoughts.
