Chapter 94: Let’s Be Friends?

One hour later, Ms. Pia and Vance concluded the meeting. After explaining the principles of her so-called "Art of Looking Good", she gave them three assignments.

First, look up their first round fan cams and list every expressions they have shown during their performance.

Rayen didn’t know what a fan cam was. When he searched it and saw the videos that only focused at his figure and practically ignoring every other members in the group, he finally understood what it was.

Second, they had to take a picture of themselves to know what angle their faces looked better.

And lastly, record themselves dance to their choreography while trying out different expressions.

Rayen had already gotten tired of repeatedly reading the notes he had taken during their lessons and listing out more for their assignments. He had taken too many, and the words on his notepad was already numbering a thousand.

It was almost time.

Putting aside his phone, Rayen stared at his teammates practicing their facial expressions in front of the mirror. The camera flashes reflecting on its surface almost blinded Rayen.

Looking at them like this, Rayen couldn’t help but think that they all look silly.

’What the hell is this?’

Lips twitching, he sighed. Before completing these three assignment from Ms. Pia, he had to first consider how to finish his weekly mission.

He only had less than an hour. How should he do this mission?

Standing beside Rayen, Minho noticed that Rayen had a troubled look on his face.

Lowering his own phone, Minho asked him, "What’s wrong?"

Since the two of them were the only ones familiar with each other, they had no problems openly communicating.

Briefly glancing at him, Rayen contemplated whether to tell him or not. In the end, he decided just tell it. There was no use to hiding it. Perhaps Minho could even help him with it.

"I’m having trouble with my weekly mission," Rayen said.

"Weekly mission?"

"You... Don’t tell me you’re unaware of it?" Rayen asked.

After witnessing the incident earlier, Rayen thought it was definitely possible.

"Oh, I know about it," Minho answered.

Binh had told him about it during one of their meals.

"Then have you finished it?" Rayen asked.

"Yes." Minho nodded." Just this morning."

"That’s fortunate," Rayen exclaimed with a sigh.

’Am I the only one who hadn’t finished it?’

Seeing his despondent face, Minho felt the urge to ask. During the first round, Rayen had been kind to them, teaching them some vocal techniques. Although Minho considered himself a rapper, vocal lessons were still helpful.

"What mission are you stuck with?" he asked.

Rayen felt stumped. He only considered that Minho could possibly help, but as the words were just about to leave his mouth, his face suddenly felt hot. Rayen shut his mouth and bit his tongue.

It felt so embarrassing telling someone he was struggling to make just a single friend.

’Why am I even worrying about making a friend just like a child?’

Still, left with no choice, Rayen told the truth. "T-The team mission..."

"Team mission? Is it about befriending someone?"

Rayen meekly nodded his head, face flushed.

Minho blinked. "Why not just ask them?"

’That’s the problem! I can’t!’

He was afraid of the big guy at the corner. Just looking at him, Rayen felt like Mr. Big News would beat him up if he tried to initiate a conversation.

The same goes with Xu Jiji. Mr. Big News was even more protective of this little kid. It would be hard to approach him.

His only last hope was really Nana.

Nana felt like her jaw was about to fall out from the constant smiling to make it natural. Resting her face for a bit, she decided to practice her vocals instead.

Pulling out the lyrics sheet from her inventory, she read it and was just about to try singing.

Just then, she felt a piercing gaze landing on her. Following her intuition, she glanced at the direction it came from and saw the two guys staring at her.

As Minho felt indebted to Rayen, he decided to help him out. He approached Nana who slightly shrank back.

"Do you want a tip how to improve your expression?" Minho asked, flashing a smile.

The other two members also noticed the strange disturbance and looked at them.

"No..." Nana said, feeling discomfort from Minho’s approach.

’Don’t talk to me! You should approach the other guys!’

She liked seeing beautiful men interact with each other, but when they approach her, she couldn’t help but be fidgety in front of them.

Mr. Big News immediately came to her rescue.

"What’s happening?" Mr. Big News asked.

"Oh, I’m just telling her a tip," Minho answered.

Mr. Big News frowned. "Tip?"

"Yes. On her facial expressions."

With his wariness of Rayen, Mr. Big News considered Minho the same as Rayen too. He had labeled the both of them as people with no good intentions.

Smirking, Mr. Big News said, "Then... why don’t you share it to us too?"

Contrary to his expectation though, Minho seemed to welcome his idea.

"Sure," Minho said with a bright, elegant smile.

With more people listening to him, the more people Rayen could befriend. Wasn’t that a win-win proposal?

Mr. Big News was puzzled.

’What’s with this guy?’

Mr. Big News stared at them with wary eyes.

Minho finally noticed Mr. Big News’s animosity toward the two of them, especially at Rayen.

And Rayen too, was acting like a prey eyed by a dangerous predator, wanting to shrink back behind Minho to hide. Eyes flitting between the two, he determined why Rayen was struggling with the team mission.

’What happened between them?’

Minho didn’t want another conflict to happen just like during the first round though, so he decided to sway the topic to a desired outcome.

"My brother can give you tips with singing too. As you know, he’s an amazing singer!" As Minho said this, he pushed Rayen forward. "In exchange, can you be friends with him?"

Rayen chuckled wryly in his mind. He wasn’t expecting this to happen at all.

Mr. Big News’s wariness intensified when he heard it. He already expected they have a motive. But what was this about making friends?

"Hi..." Rayen greeted awkwardly. "Let’s be friends?"

’Can someone please save me from this situation?’

"Teach me some tips with singing."

Interrupting the brewing conflict, a juvenile voice spoke from behind Mr. Big News. Unexpectedly, it was Xu Jiji.

Rayen and Mr. Big News looked at the little kid in surprise. Xu Jiji stared at Rayen with determined eyes.

"I’ll be friends with you if you teach me."
