Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 95: Singing Tips
Chapter 95: Singing Tips
"Done, I’ve added you as friends," Xu Jiji stated.
Rayen tapped the accept button then went straight to his weekly missions interface to check if the last mission on the list was finally labeled with an "accomplished" tag.
There were actually two ways in adding a friend. One was spending time with them for a long time while maintaining a good relationship with them. That method was a bit too long for Rayen’s circumstances just now.
The second method was directly adding them as friends on the system. This was more efficient, but it required each other’s permission.
Rayen sighed in relief then gazed with grateful eyes toward Xu Jiji.
It did feel embarrassing for Rayen. He didn’t expect that as an adult, he would have to beg someone to become friends with them. And with a little kid at that.
"Thank you for helping us out this morning," Xu Jiji whispered to him.
’So it was like that...’
"But don’t forget your promise to give me some tips on singing," he further added.
"Later, I’ll just settle something," Rayen responded while nodding his head.
"Okay."
Xu Jiji waited beside him.
Although the situation this morning had contributed to the reason of Xu Jiji’s unexpected actions, the singing tips was his true reason.
Vance had shown it during their training. Xu Jiji’s sponsors had been dissatisfied with his act of changing his gender. His voice had been affected by the change, leaving him quite in a predicament.
But now, Rayen might be able to help him.
Xu Jiji viewed Rayen as one of the participants with the best vocal abilities. Although Zbigniew was also a good vocalist, Xu Jiji thought Rayen would have better tips consudering his rich experience. After all, Rayen had been a main vocalist even from his previous life, while Mr. Big News was just a simple primary school teacher.
’Sorry, Brother...’
Unaware of Xu Jiji’s thoughts, Mr. Big News just watched the two of them. He wouldn’t go out of his way to prevent the two from being friends. They were still teammates at the moment too.
He could just observe them and see if Rayen really had a hidden motive.
Meanwhile, with the fish bone on Rayen’s throat having been pulled out, he could finally relax.
His already shitty team skills had almost turned shittier just now. It was almost eight o’clock, and the reset was just near the corner.
Thinking that another missions would replace these, Rayen’s lips twitched.
’Ah! Let’s forget about it for now. I have other missions to accomplish!’
Now that the weekly mission was temporarily out of the way, it’s time for him to accept the Skill Ranking Mission.
Obviously, he would choose the Visual mission. Maybe if he chose this mission, he wouldn’t struggle on hiding his true thoughts with his facial expressions.
As though Mini Plotter had already expected this, it no longer made Rayen choose between his two stats to rank up, directly displaying the Visual Mission on Rayen’s screen.
[Skill Ranking Mission (Visual)
Mission: Receive 10 genuine and detailed compliments on your looks.]
’Detailed? What’s considered a detailed compliment?’
Deciding to just ask Mini Plotter later, he dismissed his thoughts about it as his eyes turned to the deadline.
[Deadline: 7 days]
’Ten compliments in seven days... It’s not as hard as the first ranking mission.’
He was just about to sigh in relief when he saw the penalty. His whole face turned dark.
[Penalty for failure: Give a detailed compliment to someone you don’t like (Participant Ren)]
’Me? Compliment that guy? No way!’
Rayen dismissed the pop-up after begrudgingly accepted it — no, he didn’t even had the chance to refuse it as there was no refuse button.
Rayen turned to Xu Jiji.
He needed to fulfill his promise with this kid.
"What do you want to know?" Rayen asked as gently as possible.
He could still feel Mr. Big News’s piercing glare on his back. Rayen also noticed Nana from the corner looking at him strangely with a weird smile.
’Why? Is there something on my face?’
"I need to know how to instantly solve my problem," Xu Jiji said with a straight face.
Rayen’s back was drenched in cold sweat as he turned his attention back to him away from the fierce gaze.
’Aren’t you too much in a rush?’
When Xu Jiji saw his reaction, his stubborn face faltered. "Is that not possible?"
Scratching his cheeks, Rayen answered awkwardly, "Normally, it’s impossible. Adjusting to your voice takes quite a good chunk of time. That’s how it happened in my case when I was your age."
When Xu Jiji heard his words, his shoulders gradually slumped in disappointment.
Rayen kept explaining, trying hard to think of the right words not to dampen Xu Jiji’s hope too much.
"Vocal warm-ups should help you. Even if you’re not undergoing a voice change, warming up your throat before fully singing is a good practice. It should help lessen the cracking in your voice when singing."
"Is that so?" Xu Jiji still looked gloomy.
"You have to be patient with it. You’ll soon recover from it," Rayen said, his expression apologetic. Seeing Xu Jiji’s despondent expression, Rayen couldn’t help but add something more. "But that’s the normal way..."
Although he wasn’t sure about this...
"What about ’not normally’, then?" Jiji asked with revived enthusiasm.
"You should check if there’s something in the shop."
Xu Jiji’s eyes brightened.
’Right! Why didn’t I think of this?’
When Xu Jiji pulled out his phone from his pocket, Rayen noticed something cute dangling from it. It was a mini brown teddy bear.
’I guess, even though he changed his gender, he’s still a girl at heart...’ Rayen thought.
Xu Jiji headed to the Memorial Shop and searched for something useful. He still hadn’t spent the coins they had split among themselves yesterday, so currently he had over 50,000 Memorial Coins.
One by one, he read each Life Book pages’ descriptions on the screen — from boosters down to every scenarios.
Rayen decided to help Xu Jiji out with the knowledge that Mini Plotter had told him.
"You should probably search for an Enhancer type book page," he said.
"Why?" Xu Jiji asked, curious.
Since there was no one to explain them with it, most of the participants didn’t know the difference between enhancers and boosters.
Rayen answered, "Enhancers gives its users buffs."
"Buffs?"
Xu Jiji hadn’t been a gamer in his previous life. He was solely dedicated with being an idol, practicing every day after school and participating in events he could join, so he didn’t have the time to play.
Sighing, Rayen explained it thoroughly. "Buffs are like temporary improvements to your abilities. Something like that."
"I see..." Xu Jiji said, not really understanding it. Still, he decided to filter the book pages to only show him enhancers.
Browsing every shelves, finally, something caught his eyes.
"I think I found it!"
