Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 72 - 3rd Public Episode (2)
Chapter 72: 3rd Public Episode (2)
"Can I also join you guys?"
As the voice drifted to the group, all three turned their heads to the source. Adrian immediately stiffened in his seat, while Yeo Haru barely restrained himself from scowling.
’What’s this woman doing here?!’ Both of them echoed the same thoughts.
Yeo Haru still harbored a grudge against Ara for giving him a hard time during the song selection filming. Meanwhile, Rayen had no history with her, though he heard Adrian mention she made things difficult for him during the first round, so he could somewhat sense the unwelcome gazes of the two.
Rayen couldn’t help but wonder what Ara had done to make Adrian so tense around her. He’d always seemed like such an easygoing guy, not the type to hold grudges. Whatever happened back in the first round must’ve been pretty bad.
Since the other two stayed silent, it was Rayen who answered on their behalf.
"Sure."
Adrian and Yeo Haru shot him questioning looks, and Rayen glanced back at them in helplessness.
’I can’t just turn away someone without a reason, right?’
Ara sat beside them but didn’t say a word, which made Adrian feel slightly more at ease. Yeo Haru, despite his lingering grudge, refrained from showing pettiness.
What had happened during the first round with Binh made him cautious about his expressions and actions.
The episode continued airing on the screen. Thankfully, the person managing the display had limited the barrage of comments to just ten at a time, allowing the participants to watch in peace.
Plotter seemed to have sensed the audience’s preferences, giving more screen time to Yeo Haru. While Yeo Haru was quite happy about it, he couldn’t help but feel the other’s intense gaze directed toward him.
’I’m just doing what we’re told! We should do everything to gain screentime. Why are you looking at me this way?!’ Yeo Haru thought while shrinking back behind Rayen.
Because of his actions, even Rayen who was usually dense about these subtle details, noticed it.
’But why is this guy hiding behind me?’
After the top five contestants were shown, the identity of the hidden emcee was finally revealed. Her charismatic entrance was edited like a cinematic introduction from a movie. If the bullet comments hadn’t been limited, Rayen bet that it would fill the whole screen once again.
– I’m right.
– It’s really Yeon Miwol!
– I don’t know about this show, but since Yeon Miwol’s here, I guess I’ll be tuning in.
– Is this like Idolverse? Why’s YMW tainting her name by participating here?
Yeon Miwol’s sparkling face was zoomed in on the screen as she smiled sweetly. Just then, a loud bellow that came from the speakers filled the whole leisure floor.
"Yeon Miwol, my idol! look at me!!!"
Rayen cringed on the spot.
Yeon Miwol on the screen laughed, "It seems that some of our participants are a bit too excited. Thank you for your support."
Rayen thought it was over. After that, he recalled himself sitting quietly in embarrassment back then. But unexpectedly, another clip of him was inserted after that.
On the screen, Rayen did sat back down on his seat. But the scene angle switched, his blushing face was zoomed in while he was touching his face. Flowers even bloomed around him.
It was edited as if he was a die-hard fan.
– It’s Crunchy Wow. He’s also a man of culture. I approve.
– We support you, Cactus boy. Go, confess your love.
– Ahhh, he’s so cute!
– No, YMW is the national’s treasure. Protect her!
’What was that? Really?! What was that?!’
Yeo Haru laughed with all his heart and flashed a thumbs-up to Rayen. "You’re so cute, brother!"
Rayen’s lips twitched.
That inserted clip was from when Adrian told him that he could be easily read just by his facial expressions. There was a few minutes gap between his fan boying scream and that, but the editing... Why was it like that?!
Lesson learned: Think before you act, or else you’re just asking to be edited weirdly.
Rayen felt very conflicted about his newfound image. His simple gesture had been made to look as if he were a literal shy fan boy. His bellowing had been intentional, but that gesture? That was because of another reason!
’Damn editing team—no. That damn Plotter.’
There was only silence among the participants. Their envy from back then of being especially noticed by Yeon Miwol returned, and the glares that had once been directed at Yeo Haru switched its targets to Rayen.
Finally, the scene on the screen changed, grabbing the other participants’ attention again.
After the brief introduction of the rules and the voting procedures, the games for the song selection highlighted Yeo Haru and Ara’s rivalry. The Director’s and the staff member’s helplessness backstage was even briefly shown, earning a few more laughs from the audiences.
– kekeke.
– These two are too funny.
– LMAO. That beautiful staff backstage was clearly pissed.
When the games concluded, the songs that each group would perform were finally set in stone. As expected though, the viewers and commenters each had their own thoughts about the songs.
– I thought this is an idol show. But why isn’t there any idol song?
– Flower Garden probably ran out of money and wasn’t able to buy the rights for idol songs LOL
Amidst the negative comments, the episode finally arrived to the first round preparations.
Rayen remained straight-face while watching, but inwardly, he felt a bit more nostalgic and excited. He was finally going to see himself dancing properly.
It just felt too fast. They had just filmed this round a few days ago. And he was still wondering why he was voted as the most valuable performer that round. Maybe after watching himself, he could figure it out.
Meanwhile, not too far away from the group was Binh. When their preparations were played, he visibly stiffened. Just seeing how the viewers were clearly rooting for Yeo Haru as Immortal’s protégé, Binh’s nervousness escalated.
What if the scene of his and Yeo Haru’s disagreement was included in the episode? What would the viewers think of him?
If the viewers hated him, it could result in his complete disappearance. Although there would be no elimination in this round, Binh couldn’t help but worry. After all, their points were accumulated over time. If he didn’t have a good impression, he probably wouldn’t gain much points from votes.
He couldn’t rely just on impression points. Points from that were too meagre to even accumulate into a million points — unless his sponsors also helped him the way Rayen was helped by Sophie.
Binh watched the events with nervous eyes, his palms sweating. When the scene of Liam informing the three of them about Yeo Haru’s disdainful gaze wasn’t shown, he briefly felt puzzled.
But then, it might be because there were no cameras in that area that time.
As the interim evaluation neared, his anxiety reached its peak. However, his worry was unfounded. None of the group’s disagreements were shown.
Instead, an unfamiliar scene flashed on the screen.
Sniff. Sniff.
It was the scene of Yeo Haru crying after the interim evaluation.
