Chapter 73: Beep Beep

Before Yeo Haru’s crying scene was shown, the barrage of comments on the screen was clearly optimistic. This first group of participants was just too funny.

They seemed addicted to practicing — when it was time to rest, they practiced; when it was time to practice, they practiced even harder. And Rayen was the one who led them all in this practicing spree.

– These guys are crazy.

– Who can dance in a row like this?

– Crunchy Wow seems hard working. Was it because he knew he’s a bad dancer?

It was all happy-happy. The group laughed together, shared jokes, and practiced dilligently until the interim evaluation.

One by one, the first group’s sponsors gathered in a single room. When Han Jeongwoon, leader of Immortals, entered the room with his teammates and Drake, the comments on the screen took a sudden turn.

Even though only ten bullet comments appeared on the screen at a time, they couldn’t contain the viewers’ excitement.

– Jeongwoonieeeee

– My baby, Jeongwoon!!!!

– Woon Woon (dog emoji)

– My guard dog is here!

As a member of the idol group Immortals, Han Jeongwoon’s representative emoticon was a dog. And due to his caring nature and status as the group’s eldest and leader, he was often called Immortal’s "guard dog."

After the sponsors had all gathered, Team Resurrect Me entered the stage. The scene where the stage magically expanded was cut, and the focus shifted immediately to Team Resurrect Me’s performance.

At the time, Rayen hadn’t thought anything was wrong with their performance, but now, as he watched, he finally noticed it.

Most of the interim evaluation’s performance had been cut, likely to preserve the shock effect for the public broadcast, but Rayen could still clearly see it.

They truly resembled static dancing figures on a vast stage. Rayen’s eye twitched involuntarily at the sight of Yeo Haru standing out, completely out of sync with the rest.

Back during their practice, Yeo Haru wasn’t dancing this much. Was it because he was nervous in front of the sponsors? It seemed to show whenever he was nervous. Binh even felt so irked by it before their actual performance.

Then came the evaluations. Negative comments from the sponsors rained down on the group. However, the most highlighted critique centered around Yeo Haru and his choreography.

"Well, you lack imagination," Jeongwoon remarked.

The background music intensified the atmosphere.

"Yeo Haru overwhelmed the stage. The others looked like background dancers," another sponsor added, some nuances was cut to emphasize its gravity.

Following the interim evaluation, Yeo Haru’s crying scene was shown. His expression was completely different from his usual cheeky demeanor — he even looked more like a child than Xu Jiji. The editing amplified this impression, flashing Haru’s tear-stained face on the screen, tugging at viewers’ hearts.

More scenes of Yeo Haru clearly despondent was displayed that even the person himself felt ashamed.

’Why are they showing these?’ Yeo Haru was screaming inwardly.

’It’s like they’re saying we were dead weight because he’s the only good dancer... Is this Plotter’s doing again?’ Rayen thought.

– Haru’s so unlucky with his team. He didn’t get to choose good members because he was the last to pick!

– That’s fair, he’s only the top 5.

– He deserved a higher rank, tbh.

– So, does that sponsor mean Haru should lower down his level with the members? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

But even more than Yeo Haru’s pity editing, Rayen was even more puzzled as to why the disagreement wasn’t shown. Silently, he looked at Binh from the corner of his eyes.

’Maybe it’s for the better. If it got out, Binh would be screwed over.’

Despite not liking Binh’s approach to Yeo Haru, as a human being with a conscience, Rayen didn’t want him to disappear.

’At least, Plotter still had a conscience.’

On the screen, the group’s discouragement was evident. Their practice sessions slowed down, and their energy dwindled.

– I’m now worried. To those who attended the onsite viewing, can someone please spoil me?

– Don’t worry, don’t worry. They did great.

As though the editors predicted the viewers’ anxiety, a caption appeared beneath the screen while the team members’ faces were shown one by one.

[What would happen to the group now?]

Then, Yeo Haru’s post-performance interview played. His face in the frame showed bright, hopeful eyes, completely unlike the face from the last frame.

"I’m thankful to Brother Rayen," Yeo Haru said, "He really was this team’s MVP."

If only Liam could watch this, he’ll probably think it was unfair. He also helped Yeo Haru from his slump!

Meanwhile, Rayen blinked in surprise.

’Thankful to me?’

Looking at the real Yeo Haru behind him, the guy was too occupied with his pitiful image just now to even bother with Rayen. The viewers were puzzled, flooding the comment section with question marks.

– ???

– What did Crunchy Wow do?

– I read some spoilers that Rayen did get the MVP. Is this about it?

– Really?

– I don’t know, it’s just a rumor floating around Y.

The caption that followed mirrored the viewers’ confusion.

[What did Participant Rayen do?]

The scene cut to the team practicing without their usual energy. The atmosphere in the room felt dead, and a cricket sound effect emphasized the silence.

As the original song arrangement played in the background, and the members practiced a hastily assembled choreography, one member suddenly stopped dancing.

Zooming in on his contemplative face, with a touch of animation, three dots appeared above his head as a black bird flew by. The others didn’t notice him stopping since they were also lost in their own little worlds, until Yeo Haru accidentally bumped into him.

The three dots above Rayen’s head transformed into a light bulb.

"Guys, I have an idea!" Rayen blurted out.

Finally understanding what Yeo Haru meant when Rayen was the team’s MVP, the viewers flooded the comment section again.

– So he’s the idea bank.

– Do you think he was also the one who came up with Cracktusss advertisement? Hahahaha

Visibly brightening, the team gathered around Rayen. The viewers, too, grew excited to see what this comical dancer had planned.

"Since our song’s Resurrect me, we can’t use a Zombie concept, so we’ll be safe from overlapping with the other group."

Rayen’s first words made sense to the viewers, all of them approving. Rayen just now looked like the savior of the group. But toward his next words, the series of beeps dampened the viewer’s expectations.

"So, let’s beep beep beep," Rayen said. "Then we will be beep beep beep. We can use beep beep, and Yeo Haru’s part will beep beep. What do you think?"

The viewers only thought of one thing.

’What beep?!’
