Chapter 138: Sabotage

The team headed for the next game. In disappointment, they passed by the game stations that Rayen wanted to try playing.

’I hope the next game is up to my par.’

But as usual, Rayen’s wishful thinking wouldn’t ever happen. Once the team stopped and he saw the large hammer leaning against a tall ruler, Rayen gave up. The game was High Striker.

Gazing at his own somewhat toned biceps, he knew it was all for show. He had never done any work out. And besides, the other team had Mr. Big News, who was known for his burly body. There was definitely no way they would win this game. Unless Mr. Big News’s muscles were like Rayen’s, that was all for show.

"Who’s gonna play?" Adrian asked.

He scanned everyone in his team. Half of their team were composed of ladies, and there was even a little kid. The only probable one to play this game was him, Rayen and Yeo Haru.

However, Yeo Haru was unexpectedly unenthusiastic with this game.

"You don’t want to play?" Adrian asked him.

"No. It’s boring," answered the petty dancer shortly.

"Then you?" Adrian turned his head to Rayen.

Rayen smiled, "Have you ever seen me working out?"

Adrian pursed his lips. "What do you think about me, then?"

’Right... This guy is lazy as a sloth. It’s even a miracle he’s still not complaining about working so hard right now.’

"Then who’s gonna play?" Rayen asked.

Adrian shrugged.

"Want me to try?" Xi Huan suddenly stepped out.

"... Are you sure?" the two asked simultaneously.

Xi Huan only smiled without answering.

And so, she became the representative for their group. As expected, Team Grit sent Mr. Big News, while Team IFY sent Liam.

’Why Liam?’

Rayen’s question was soon answered.

[Team Grit: 89]

[Team IFY: 95]

Liam’s score was even higher than Mr. Big News... Was it because Mr. Big News’s muscle was a hoax or was Liam just stronger? Was it just a fluke?

Mr. Big News scratched his cheek as they watched Liam hand over the large hammer to Xi Huan. The whimsical magician had twig-like arms, in contrast to the big hammer. Liam hesitated to let go of it lest Xi Huan’s arms snap.

"Are you sure you can?" Liam asked, concerned.

Why did they even send someone this thin?

Xi Huan, as usual, smiled and pulled the large hammer out of Liam’s hands. When it didn’t seem like Xi Huan would injure herself, Liam sighed in relief before retreating toward his team.

Dragging the large hammer on the floor, she stared at the bell at the top of the ruler with smiling eyes. Then, she gradually lifted the hammer, firmly grasping its handle with both hands. Aiming at the target, the hammer went down.

Thump!

Team Seven Flowers watched with dead eyes. The sound that reverberated throughout the entire place seemed empty. After watching Xi Huan effortlessly lift the hammer, they thought she was strong. But what was this?

[Team Seven Flowers: 35]

"Hmm... That’s weird," she said. "Can I try again?"

"No," Plotter answered discreetly.

"Hmm, okay."

She returned the hammer back to its original place and went back to her teammates. No one spoke.

With that, she just proved that their team was really made up of frail flowers. Oh, except for Rayen and Xu Jiji.

Sigh.

Well, it’s to be expected. They had expected to lose from the start. There was nothing to be disappointed with.

After each team rolled their roulette, they headed to the next station. As usual, Adrian was the one to hold onto the blank life book pages.

Plotter led them toward the corner of the arcade, where three basketball machines were lined up. As someone who never worked out, Rayen and Adrian both sighed in disappointment.

"Yeo Haru, have you played this game?" Adrian asked.

"Hehe, yes..."

Adrian clicked his tongue. When he was needed, he turned out to be useless.

"Who wants to play?"

Xi Huan raised her hand once again.

"Let’s let the others play, shall we?" Adrian asked, winking.

"Hmm, okay," Xi Huan agreed.

Phew.

In truth, he was just afraid of her twig arms. The ball might not even reach the hoop at all if he let her play.

Finally, another hand raised among the ladies.

Iris asked, "Is it fine if I try? I’ve played volleyball, so I might be on point."

Adrian agreed. It was better than nothing.

Iris stepped out as their representative, Ren for Team Grit and Minho for Team IFY. Seeing the representatives, Rayen knew it would be an unpredictable game.

The game would last for a minute. The rule was simple, they had to score as much as possible.

After Xu Jiji wished her mother — uh, Iris good luck, the game finally started. Iris calmly shot the basketball that rolled toward her after the suspenders were lifted. Unexpectedly, she was quite a good shooter. She might have been a volleyball player, but she was decent at basketball. Besides, the hoop wasn’t that far and high to begin with.

Meanwhile, Ren and Minho were also doing decently. Fortunately, the two weren’t monsters like Rayen on shooting games and Xu Jiji on Dance Dance Evolution.

As the seconds passed by, Iris steadily gained points until she maintained a steady 2 point gap from the two guys. Suddenly though, a stray ball from another station hit Iris’s ball just as it was about to go in the hoop.

Iris glanced toward the direction where the ball came from and saw Ren calmly shooting another ball. It went in. The score that Iris had painstakingly maintained was broken by this shameless guy.

Rayen also glared in his direction, but the guy maintained a straight face as he prepared to shoot another ball. Iris calmly returned to shooting, trying to catch up again.

Ren’s lack of reaction annoyed Rayen. He glared toward Plotter.

"Hey, that’s clearly sabotage."

But Plotter only smiled. "I didn’t say they can’t do it."

’Damn Plotter.’

After the last 15 seconds passed, Iris wasn’t able to catch up. Even though she only paused for a brief moment, Minho and that despicable Ren continued shooting. After she was distracted, she even missed a few times.

In the end, Iris was left behind, placing last. When she came back to the team, a tinge of disappointment was written on her face.

"Sorry," she said.

"No worries," Adrian said with a courteous smile.

Now, it just came down to whether they would win the last game or not. When they arrived at the last station, Adrian’s lips curved into a smirk.

He glanced behind his teammates, stating nonchalantly, "We’re the winner."
