Chapter 139: Racing Winner

For the last game, Adrian was confident to win. This was the game he was waiting for the most — racing game. But it wasn’t the usual racing game. The three representatives had to enter the VR booth.

Team Seven Wonders gladly sent the confident Adrian. Although Rayen was also an expert in these kinds of games, looking at Adrian’s smug smile, he doubted that Adrian would let anyone stop him. It was rare for this guy to be even enthusiastic about something, so Rayen just let him be.

The representative of Team IFY was the dazed Ryeon. Rayen frowned.

Were they sure on letting this guy drive? Even though it was a virtual reality, Ryeon seemed to be someone who doesn’t pay attention to his surroundings when driving.

Well, it didn’t matter. He was their opponent right now. If he messed up, it would be to their team’s benefit. As for Team Grit, their representative was a repeat player — Ren.

Tsk.

Recalling how this guy sabotaged Iris, Rayen was sure he was planning something again. Adrian was also on the same page as him.

"Be careful," Rayen warned.

"You don’t need to remind me. It doesn’t matter. I’m an expert driver. You don’t need to worry," Adrian boasted.

’Just go.’

Rayen ignored his words and pushed this annoying writer. Although the VR booths were enclosed on all sides, there was a small screen outside where the non-players could watch.

A few moments later, three motorbikers appeared on the screens. Adrian’s uniform was red tinged with white. At the corner of the screen, his player number was displayed, 03.

Before the start of the match, Adrian raised his hand, gesturing a peace sign.

Finally, the counter reached zero.

"Go!"

Just like how Adrian had boasted, his reaction to the signal was superb. He was the first one to take off. The second to follow him was Ren, while Ryeon lagged a bit behind. Rayen heard Ara click her tongue in annoyance.

From the get-go Adrian was able to widen the gap between them. When Rayen peeked at Ren’s perspective, he could no longer see Adrian from the distance.

The situation right now was too similar to Iris’s game earlier.

Then came the first curve of the track. Adrian easily maneuvered through it without losing speed. A few seconds later, Ren also passed by the curve without a hitch. Only Ryeon seemed to be struggling. He wasn’t able to turn on time and skidded to the runoff area.

That mistake even made the gap between him and the other two ahead of him. Rayen once again heard Ara grumble.

"After this game, I’ll kill him."

’Lady... you need to calm down.’

The race continued. Gradually, Ren was able to catch up to Adrian during the zigzag course. Even though Adrian didn’t want to slow down, that would only cause him to get into an accident. The moment Ren caught up and the zigzag area passed, Rayen’s bad intuition kicked in.

Deliberately colliding into Adrian, Ren tried to overtake him. However, Adrian’s senses were keen. His bike only momentarily wobbled to avoid Ren’s attack.

’Nice!’

If it was a real-life game, Ren’s actions might have been considered a foul. But since this was just a game, and with Plotter overseeing it, he couldn’t count on that little shit to issue a warning.

As the race continued, Ren tried everything he could to overtake Adrian, but he couldn’t. Rayen’s smirk continued to widen every time he failed.

Finally, Adrian emerged victorious. Team Seven Flowers cheered loudly the moment Adrian passed by the finish line. When Adrian emerged from the racing booth, Rayen immediately went over to welcome him.

’This guy is truly helpful sometimes!’

The relaxed Adrian raised his eyebrows with Rayen’s unusual behavior. As the other participants went out of the booths, Adrian’s smile turned even more cocky.

"Heh, I told you I’m an expert," Adrian said, deliberately making his voice loud. "Even if someone tries dirty ways, I’d still win."

Ren didn’t flinch even after hearing that. He quietly made his way toward his teammates with a straight face. The towering Mr. Big News looked at his teammate with a scrunched face, clearly disappointed with Ren’s behavior. Noticing Rayen and his teammates looking their way, Mr. Big News apologetically lowered his head.

’At least, there’s still someone with senses over there.’

Meanwhile, Ara’s gaze toward Ryeon could really kill someone. It was so sharp that if it were Rayen under it, he would definitely cower. However, the other guy was just as dazed as ever. He seemed like someone who wouldn’t care even if the world collapsed.

Before Ara could say anything, Plotter took control of the situation. After a brief empty congratulations toward Team Seven Flowers, the roulette appeared in front of the three teams again.

Adrian was just about to spin it with all his might when a voice interrupted him.

"Can I try just spinning it?" Yeo Haru asked.

Rayen and Adrian glanced at him. Seeing his pitiful face, Adrian sighed.

"Okay."

Instantly, Yeo Haru’s smile brightened. He happily went over to the roulette and pointed toward the single multi-color pocket.

"I’ll get that for you," Yeo Haru declared.

’As if.’

Then, Yeo Haru spun the roulette with all his might. The team watched it, following the eye-catching multi-colored tile as usual — although they weren’t wishing so much as to get it.

Gradually, the roulette turned slower and slower. Rayen and the other’s eyes widened the moment the red pointer slowed down pointing at the multi-colored pocket.

’Are you serious?’

They watched the roulette spin some more, their breaths stuck in their chest.

Until it stopped.

"Ah..." Yeo Haru exclaimed disappointedly.

With a sigh, Rayen went toward Yeo Haru to pat his back.

"No worries. It’s still good," he said.

Although it didn’t land on their desired tile, it was still better than their other rewards. They had landed on the yellow tile, which only had a probability of three out of fifteen.

...

"Ah, this is life!" Adrian said, stretching on his seat.

The other members munched onto their foods, savoring the promised lavish meal of the team with the most wins during the third floor trial.

Right now, they were on the cafeteria, the resting floor of the tower climbing. The other teams eyed their foods like hungry dogs, but they couldn’t do anything about it. They lost.

Who would have thought that Adrian was a hidden racing talent? And Yeo Haru... this guy actually had a golden hand.

After the team finished eating everything that was served to them, Adrian finally addressed one of their concerns.

"Should we check out now what kind of pages we got?"
