Chapter 137: Let Me Play!

’So, every game has a reward?’

As Rayen contemplated what kind of reward they would get, three roulettes appeared in each team. Rayen recognized it as the roulette he would always see whenever he gets a book page quest reward from the system. Only that this one was huge.

But why were there three roulettes? Didn’t Plotter mention it was supposed to be a reward?

Rayen glanced at the other roulette and saw that the colors of the tiles on their roulettes were different than theirs. Theirs have one multi-color tile, three yellows and eleven blues — a total of fifteen tiles.

On the other hand, Ara’s team didn’t have any multi-colored. There was only one yellow, three blue and the rest were green. The last group had it worse. They only have blue and green tiles.

’It must be the rankings...’

In the first game, Ara had won second place, while Nana was the last.

Without further ado, Rayen and the two girls spun their team’s roulette. However, Rayen’s luck was just too trashy to even count on it. He got the lowest reward, the blue tile.

’What the hell.’

As he was lamenting his bad luck, the brown parchment appeared midair. Grabbing it, the team immediately huddled behind Rayen to see what kind of book page he got. However, the content surprised them.

"There’s nothing?" Adrian blurted out.

All of the participants also turned toward Plotter, but the short figure only ignored them. He was already walking toward the next station.

The participants followed silently.

When they arrived at the next station, Rayen froze. Thinking that luck was finally on their side, the players on the other teams sighed in relief.

The colorful lights on the station’s floor and the random arrows that kept appearing at the bottom of the screen, was something Rayen didn’t want to see. However, he knew he couldn’t compete here. Backing down, he stayed behind the group.

"You play this game," he said, grimacing.

On video games, he could boast, but dancing games?

Although his dancing skill had risen to the C rank — the ranks of the intermediates — he wasn’t confident in dancing without a shred of practice. Even with the Horse Shoe on, he doubted his teammates would even entrust this game with him.

’It’s different! I only have to press a button on the other games!’

Adrian chuckled. He was just about to step out when the despondent Yeo Haru regained his luster.

"Me! Me! Let me play this game!" Yeo Haru said.

Adrian stopped in his tracks and glanced back at him.

"Oh," Rayen also exclaimed.

On the screen, he saw Yeo Haru’s name at the top of the list. As an excellent dancer, there was no doubt that Yeo Haru was the better choice for their representative. But then, Plotter interrupted them.

"Those who were on the list of old players are prohibited from participating."

Yeo Haru’s smile hardened. Eventually, he gave up and returned behind the group beside Rayen, his lips pouting. Watching him, Rayen’s pity for him grew.

’Let the guy play the only game he can play...’

Maybe if Yeo Haru hadn’t been so idle, he must have been able to participate here.

"I guess, it’s really me," Adrian said.

Just then, another voice stopped him.

"Wait."

Adrian stopped in his tracks again. He glanced back at the team with a smile, but Rayen could see that a nerve on his forehead was already bulging. However, it immediately disappeared when he saw who had spoken.

It was Xu Jiji. He was finally awake.

Yawning, Xu Jiji said, "Can I try?"

"Sure, sure," Adrian said, gesturing for the kid to step out.

The hopeful gazes from the other teams were immediately wiped out upon seeing who was Seven Flower’s representative.

"Let’s just forfeit this match," Minho from the IFY team whispered to Ara.

Hearing that disdainful word, she scoffed, "You really want to forfeit against a little kid?"

Minho’s face reddened in embarrassment. Ara rolled her eyes and stepped out in front of her team with cross arms. Once again, she’s their team’s representative.

"It’s just Dance Dance Evolution. Just step on the arrow. Even the little kid can do it, and you can’t?"

Mino’s red face reddened even more. Rayen also chuckled wryly behind his teammates.

’That stung, ah.’

Seeing the other team not backing down, Mr. Big News also sent another player of their own. Rayen didn’t know his name, just that he knew he was Ryeon’s roommate. As he looked to the players that were competing with him, his face paled. The three stepped on the platform with colorful arrows.

Of course, Plotter being the host and writer of this broadcast had automatically set the difficulty level to the highest level.

[3, 2, 1, start.]

The music immediately started. It was the show’s theme song which Rayen rarely heard despite it being the theme song.

Watching the game unfold, Rayen was glad he backed out. The three screens in front of the three players had so many colors and arrows. Its speed was even faster than the bullets he had shot in the earlier game he played. His eyes were almost spinning from the dizzying content on the screen.

’Ah! My head!’

Even with Horse Shoe, Rayen’s feet might not be able to keep up with it. Despite that though, the three players were able to follow the steps on the screen. Since Rayen couldn’t keep up with the arrow movements, he just watched the combo counts on each person’s screen.

Ryeon’s teammate kept getting mistakes here and there as his combo count would always reset to zero. Meanwhile, Ara clicked her tongue in annoyance whenever she made a mistake herself.

On the other hand, Xu Jiji...

"This kid’s really a monster," Adrian whispered beside Rayen. He was also glad he didn’t step out to play the game.

Although Xu Jiji still made some mistakes, it was rare compared to the other two. Besides, he wasn’t only dancing with his feet but with his whole body. Sometimes, he would duck to press the platform arrow with his hands. Looking at his movements, Rayen felt like the dance steps were a breeze.

Though he knew the truth was far from it.

As expected, their team won without any suspense. Ryeon’s roommate was heaving when he descended the station’s platform. Xu Jiji’s serious face had gradually turned into a smile as he proudly announced his winning.

"I won, hehe..."

Yeo Haru silently clicked his tongue beside Rayen. "I can also do that."

Another tongue clicking reached Rayen’s ears. Though, this one was deliberately louder. It came from Ara who wasn’t actually looking at her competitor, but at Adrian who had assumed the team’s leadership. Adrian’s face scrambled behind Rayen under Ara’s glare.

’He really did find someone his match.’

Since it was their team’s win, the familiar roulette appeared before them. The other teams looked on in envy.

"Go, spin it," Adrian instructed Xu Jiji.

As the team’s bread winner of this round, Xu Jiji gladly obliged. Using his whole-body, he spun the colorful roulette around. Their eyes followed the multi-colored pocket.

’Jackpot, jackpot, jackpot!’

Surely, Xu Jiji wouldn’t be as unlucky as Rayen, right?

Gradually, the roulette slowed down until it hit its target.

Blue.

Immediately, their reward appeared, hovering in the air. Xu Jiji grabbed at it disappointingly before handing it over to Adrian who had kept their earlier rewards.
