Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 122: Give Me A Rrrrraaaa!
Chapter 122: Give Me A Rrrrraaaa!
It was now time for the real battle.
Despite feeling breathless from the vigorous dancing, Rayen and his teammates had to line up to determine the MVP of this team.
Rayen glanced around at everyone, his face flushed from the rush of blood.
’Who’ll win from us?’
To calm his rushing heartbeat, Rayen inhaled deeply to take in the air. It wouldn’t be too good if he was too excited. It still wasn’t over.
Nana was first in the line to appeal to the audience. During her turn, she would shyly make a pose, each cuter than the other. She even twirled, showing off her brown wings.
"Please vote for me!"
One by one, each member of the team was called for their turn. Minho followed Nana. As expected, he had so many things up on his sleeve.
Instead of acting cute, Minho ran down his hand on his hair while biting his lips seductively. His expressions were over the top, as usual.
After Minho was Mr. Big News. The big man serenaded everyone with his message.
"Press the ’o’ button please.
Pretty, pretty please."
Rayen stiffened on the spot.
’He sang... What should I do now?’
He didn’t want to sing too as it would be too repetitive. While racking his brain for ideas, Xu Jiji was called next. The little kid — but not so little right now — knew his strengths well.
Of course, it was dancing. He did the highlight part of their song. Tapping his tummy, he acted like he was in pain.
"A-a-a-aww yeah!"
Then, he drew a heart in the air, facing the audience.
"Oh? You’ll vote for me, right?"
His bright and sassy gestures won the audience’s hearts. They lifted the black devices that hung on their necks, pressing the buttons for Xu Jiji.
Gulp.
Cold sweat started to run down Rayen’s back. He couldn’t think of anything that could top that.
’Ah... It’s really too hard being their teammate! Why am I even placed last?!’
Each of them had a different idea from the others, leaving Rayen with no further idea. When Xu Jiji’s turn came to an end, the cameras focused on the panic-stricken Rayen, displaying his face on the background screen.
Out of nervousness, he no longer paid attention to his own facial expressions. Just then, as if sensing his struggles, one voice from the back row shouted.
"Rayen, give me a rrrrraaaaa!!!"
A spark appeared in Rayen’s mind. What a brilliant idea! How could he have forgotten about his adlib before?
"Vote for me!" Rayen exclaimed, raising his hands and pumping in the air. He placed the tip of his tongue on the roof of his mouth. "Rrrrrrrraaaaaaa!"
Rayen peered through the dark audience area to see who shouted, and only saw a scrawny man waving in his direction. He also saw the audience members excitedly shout along with him as their fingers pressed the button on their devices.
Finally, his turn was over as Yeon Miwol counted to zero.
With a smile, they waited for the announcement of the results. Of course, Rayen also wanted to win the award. The points multiplier was too precious to not hope for it.
"Now, who’s the MVP of Team Love Makers?" Yeon Miwol asked, hyping up the atmosphere.
Different names echoed from the crowd, meshing to form a united cheers but unintelligible sound. Not long after, the face of the MVP winner appeared on the screen — a young bright face with round eyes.
Xu Jiji. It was Xu Jiji who won the MVP award.
Rayen sighed.
’Oh, well... What a bummer.’
During the performance, Rayen didn’t really pay attention to the others. He focused on watching himself through the Eye of the Beholder, so he didn’t know how the others were doing.
It was still in line with Rayen’s expectations though. He patted the little guy beside him.
"Congrats," he said.
Xu Jiji only grinned widely.
’I wonder just how many points he got from this award?’
...
As all the performances finished, the filming paused for a short break. The participants and audience members were given croissants and a simple water bottle for a light meal which Rayen and the others munched off.
The seating arrangements were also switched up. Instead of sitting on the chairs of their respective ranks, the participants now huddled together with the current teammates.
"Okay, finish off your food. We will resume filming in five minutes!" The Director announced as she made her rounds inside the entire studio.
After five minutes, the cameras rolled again. This time, they would announce the results of the unit competition.
Yeon Miwol, as beautiful as ever, stepped onto the stage with a new set of cue cards in her hand.
"The results for today’s round are out," she announced.
The teams tensed in their seats.
"Let’s first announce the Visual Unit."
Rayen heard the breathing of his teammates stopped for a moment.
’Why us first?!’
Rayen seemed to sense the cameras on them. He straightened his back and watched the screen tightly. The names of the two teams appeared on the screen.
"Good luck to us..." Nana said.
She really was proactive today. Was it because of the cameras?
"Then let’s see the total votes received by Team Bloodless for the on-site viewing!"
The numbers suddenly appeared on the screen.
[391/500]
Since it was the first score, Rayen had no idea if it was a good or a bad score.
"What about Team Love Makers, then?"
Gulp.
Without waiting for a long time, their team’s score appeared beside their name.
[419/500]
’!!!’
It’s their win!
Rayen snickered toward Adrian.
’What now, huh?’
"It’s not yet over. Let’s now see the scores for the online votes."
Rayen froze. Seeing his reaction, Adrian chuckled.
"Not yet over," Adrian mouthed.
Tsk.
Yet, after the results were announced, Rayen once again smirked in Adrian’s direction. It was their win again.
309 to 340. Team Love Makers won the online votes too.
Adrian mouthed again, refusing to give up. "It’s not yet over."
Yes, it still wasn’t over.
The maximum score was 10,000, and both the on-site and online rankings made up 40% of that, adding up to 80% of the score. Meanwhile, the MV views counted for 20% of the scores.
Somehow, an ominous feeling crept to Rayen’s chest.
He had just gotten out of a controversy. Would that have an impact on their scores?
The answer was... yes.
When the two scores were revealed, Rayen paled at the vast difference.
[Bloodless: 790,548
Love Makers: 288,028]
’A 500,000 gap...’
His teammates looked at him. They probably guessed the reason why.
It was because of the recent scandal about him.
Finally, Minho spoke up. "No worries, bro. It’s just 20 percent of the total score."
’Right... There’s still hope.’
But reality slapped him with truth. A 20% was still a large percentage with that big of a gap. When the computation was finalized on screen, Rayen’s face fell.
[Bloodless: 7,066]
[Love Makers: 6,606]
It’s their loss.
