Chapter 123: Danger Line

Pursing his lips, Rayen looked away at the results shown on the screen. A bitter taste was left in his mouth. When he saw Adrian flashed him a lazy smile, a sense of annoyance washed over Rayen.

Even though there wasn’t any bit of smugness on Adrian’s face, the word "victory" was written clearly on it.

Rayen clicked his tongue. It’s fine. As a pay back though, he’d just hide this lazy writer’s eye glasses later.

The announcement of the results quickly passed by. For the Vocal Unit, the scores were neck and neck with each other. However, Liam’s team still took the win.

Rayen looked at Ren. He surely knew this guy would be reeling in smugness, but contrary to his expectations, Ren hadn’t even looked his way.

He wasn’t as petty as Rayen. His sponsors had been the one to take Rayen’s spot away from him. Ren did feel sorry for it, but still, he thought Rayen was being childish, and responding to him would be the same as being childish himself too.

Rayen clicked his tongue from his lack of reaction. Apparently, Ren’s nonchalance even looked more obnoxious for him.

While the silent one-sided war was happening, the announcement continued. For the Performance Unit, there was no need to even think hard about it. It was obvious who would win right from the start.

"Team Prisoners, congratulations!" Yeon Miwol said.

Few reacted with it, though. The participants’ reactions were divided into two groups. One group had big smiles plastered on their faces, while the other half had forlorn expressions.

Their expressions turned even worse when Yeon Miwol announced the next segment.

"Then, we have come to the next part..." she began. "The eliminations."

’Eliminations...’

The losing teams turned pale at the word. Would they be eliminated right away? Rayen was still clinging to some hope though.

’Surely... they won’t, right?’

Since the word itself was a sensitive topic for the participants, no one had talked about it openly. The production crew and Yeon Miwol also hadn’t uttered any word how they would determine the eliminated parties.

Gulp.

"Yesterday, the first round of voting had come to an end. Tonight, we will determine who’d be eliminated based on your number of points."

With further explanations from Yeon Miwol, Rayen understood how the eliminations would be conducted.

At 500,000 points, a danger line would be added. Meaning, those who couldn’t reach that would be in danger of elimination.

"Danger" only, since it would be up to the sponsors whether to let go of them or not.

’500,000...’

The last time Rayen checked, his Life Book Points were just on the brink of reaching 300,000. But then again, the points he had seen were only from the accumulated impressions and the little points he got from winning the MVP last round.

"Let’s reveal the points for each participant!" Yeon Miwol announced.

Every participant glanced at the screen behind Yeon Miwol. A total of 34 names appeared on it with a string of numbers attached beside it.

Rayen swept his eyes from the bottom to top to search for his name on the list, and he unexpectedly found it near the top.

From the initial rank of 16, he jumped neatly towards the eighth place. Still, his points fell quite short for the 500,000 danger line.

But if he was in eighth place, then...

"Most of us haven’t reached 500,000..." Xu Jiji whispered.

Though he was among the ones who had managed to save themselves from the danger. Xu Jiji’s name was quite high up on the second place, following after Yeo Haru.

Yeo Haru must be dancing in happiness in his mind, then. He had beaten Xu Jiji.

Rayen was right. Yeo Haru was indeed smiling smugly.

However, the venue grew quieter as the participants stared at the scene on the screen.

It wasn’t enough... Only six participants passed the danger line. Just like Rayen, the seventh place fell a bit short with his score. And most of the participants had more or less the same as Rayen’s score.

What should they do then?

Rayen gazed at Yeon Miwol, who was also watching the display. As though she had sensed the numerous gazes on her, she also turned back to the participants, her lips upturned.

’She’s happy?’

Feigning a cough, she grabbed everyone’s attention. "As you have observed, most of you here are in danger."

Her words evoked an even more gloom from the participants. However, her next words gave the participants hope.

Well, except Rayen and his teams.

"It’s not the final ranks. The scores for today’s round still hadn’t been added to it," Yeon Miwol said. "For those who won today’s round. The score you received will be multiplied to ten."

Ten times... So, not only will the MVP get a multiplier reward, but also the team winners. That was probably why the members of the winner from the first round were high up on the scoreboard.

Still, the rule spelled bad news to Rayen, his face drained from blood. The same goes for his other teammates who were in the same situation as him. Today, they hadn’t won the unit competition. That meant...

Just as Rayen was thinking about it, the numbers beside their name changed, adding each of their respective scores this round.

After the scores changed, the rankings also jumbled, placing the names on their correct places.

From eighth place, he fell ten places. But that wasn’t the sad part about it. He still hadn’t reached the threshold.

’Am I doomed? Madame Sophie and the others probably won’t let go of me...’

Well, except for one person.

The only person he could think of that might possibly let go of him was Harjun. If Harjun let go of him, Rayen would only be left with four sponsors. It was still enough to keep him going on the show, but Rayen felt sorry.

Sophie and his other sponsors’ faces flashed in Rayen’s mind. They had always been supportive of him... even giving him lifespans and a large sum of MC.

Yet he failed to reach their expectations.

’I hope they don’t think I’m not worth it...’
