Chapter 116: Another Day of Being Shameless

Chapter 116: Another Day of Being Shameless

For the past three days, Rayen had never been so careful with his every move. Everywhere he went, he was always on the lookout for the cameras constantly filming him.

Thankfully, nothing bad had happened so far. The days passed by peacefully as if there wasn’t someone out there waiting for Rayen to mess up again.

And so, today, the second round performance was about to be filmed. Once again, the participants gathered at the fifth floor studio. It was no longer empty, but back to its usual set up with the tiered ranking chairs for the participants near the wide stage.

Something was different though. Below the stage, a separate seats had been set up. Sitting there were people who’ve come to watch today’s performance

Rayen looked at everyone from his seat high above everyone. He was seated here based on the on-site ranking last round.

’What a turn of events...’

Just one level below him were the chairs that belonged to the respective top 2 and 3 participants. The former top 1, Xu Jiji, was almost dozing off in his seat at third place, while the ever-mysterious Ayumi sat with a straight back, looking at the audience below.

Finally, the familiar and elegant Yeon Miwol emerged from the backstage, holding a handheld mic and a cue card with the show’s logo.

"Good morning, Participants. Are you all ready to perform onstage?" Yeon Miwol asked with a sweet smile.

’No...’

Rayen answered in his mind, observing how the other participants were fidgeted nervously in their seats. Though some looked like they didn’t care at all. For example, Adrian, who only sat languidly two levels below Rayen.

As if sensing Rayen’s gaze, Adrian looked up and waved at him. The other participants noticed and casted envious glances toward him. Even the audiences below were intrigued, their curious gazes landin towards him.

Rayen fixed the way he sat, avoiding eye contact with everyone.

’It’s so hard to be in this seat.’

If only he could swap places with Xu Jiji right now.

Yeon Miwol proceeded to explain the mechanics more clearly than the first round. "To determine the winner of each units from this round, the onsite votings will take up of 40% of the scores. 20% will come from the MV views and 40% for the online votes."

’There’s an online vote? They didn’t tell us about this before.’

Murmurs echoed among the participants.

"The on-site votes will come from our special guests here today," Yeon Miwol added.

’Special individuals? Entities?’

Rayen stared at the people below.

From the public’s perspective, they probably had no idea what the term "special" meant, but for the participants, it was clear what Yeon Miwol meant.

That only increased the pressure to them though. To them, these people were potential sponsors.

Gulp.

Rayen’s palm was sweaty holding onto the arm chair.

"As for the online votes, some viewers have been selected to watch via live streams." Yeon Miwol added before turning to the audiences below. "Audience, are you ready for the performances?"

"Whooo!!!"

Unexpectedly, the audience seemed to be excited as they erupted in cheers and whistles. Banners waved in the air, catching the participants off-guard.

They didn’t expect this much enthusiasm.

’Are they really Entities?’

"Im Rayen!!! Good luck! Don’t mind the haters! We love you!" one audience member bellowed.

Flustered, Rayen scanned the crowd to find the person who shouted but couldn’t locate them. Still, he bowed politely in their direction.

After the cheers died down, Yeon Miwol introduced the first unit to perform: the Performance Unit.

In this round, Rayen would perform last, so he could only enjoy the subsequent performances — if only he wasn’t too jittery in anxiety.

Familiar faces, including Yeo Haru and Renjiro, stood from their seats.

Their glittering silver outfits caught Rayen’s attention, but he couldn’t guess what kind of performance they had prepared. However, as Yeo Haru struck different poses every step he took, the spiky electric guitar tuck in his side was too flashy.

’What the hell is he going to do with that?’

After receiving a deadpan gaze from Iris, Yeo Haru stopped his cutesy pose and scurried to join his team.

The two teams from the Performance Unit stood on the stage, separated by Yeon Miwol. Rayen didn’t recognize anyone from Yeo Haru’s opposing team, so he paid them less attention.

Before the performances begun, a perfunctory interview was conducted for each of the team. The only highlight about it was the competition between them.

Uninterested, Rayen waited for the performances to start. The team against Yeo Haru’s team went first, preparing to open the curtain for the show as they took their positions on stage.

It might be a good thing. Just looking at the line up of the other team, they might be thankful they were the one to perform first. Look at what happened to Ryeon’s team when they performed after Rayen’s group.

As for this team though, Rayen could only say one thing. They lacked cohesion.

’Just what the hell was this team doing during the past ten days?’

They reminded him of Xu Jiji’s first round team — each member had distinct flavors. It wasn’t that they weren’t good. It was just that they weren’t trying to work with each other but fighting for the spotlight instead.

Doing adlibs here and there, the others tried to outshone every members. That’s why the team was a mess.

’Who the hell trained these guys?’

Even with the Basic Training Package, there should be one instructor assigned to guide them, but why were they like this?

Finally, the first team had finished their performance. Scattered applause echoed around the studio, making the participants onstage realize what kind of mistake they just did.

Yeon Miwol stepped back to the stage, watching them with amusement.

"For this round, the audience members will vote for each participants to know determine the MVP," she announced. "Please press ’o’ if you want to vote for the participant, ’x’ if you don’t like them."

’It’s different from the first round.’

The team members were puzzled with the changes at first, but one by one the names of the participants for that team were called. Each of them were given 30 seconds to appeal to the audiences to vote for them.

"Please vote for me," one participant winked awkwardly.

Another sent flying kisses toward the audience. Since their stage performance was a wreck, they just tried their best to gain the audience’s votes.

This was probably what Plotter and the crew was aiming for. Rayen’s lips twitched as he watched them.

’Oh, well. It’s just another day of being shameless...’
