Chapter 994: Can she get up and fight in this state?

When Dominic and his entourage landed, they wasted no time and traveled to the facility. Bear arranged everything using Dominic’s connection, arranging escorts and security for Dominic’s safety. The airport wasn’t anywhere near the secret facility. They have to drive to another point in the country and then take the chopper from there to the facility.

Before they could land on the rooftop of the facility, Dominic glanced down. There, standing in the corner of the rooftop, was the big man, Fig. Seeing that Fig was no longer wearing a hospital gown was enough for Dominic to know he was discharged. Not that Dominic wasn’t aware of it.

Minutes later, the harsh wind blew past Fig, watching the helicopter descend on the rooftop. He caught a few hitched outside the chopper and then followed by Dominic and Axel.

"What’s her status?" asked Bear a few steps from Fig.

Fig didn’t respond until they walked past him, following a step behind Dominic. "It’s still just as Moose said. She would wake up — and open her eyes, but wouldn’t respond to anything. Although she had fallen back asleep, she would open her eyes every once in a while and would just stare at the ceiling."

Fig gave every little detail he knew, and what Moose told them. After all, Moose was staying with Heaven, still running a few more tests on her.

"All I know is that she wouldn’t respond to pain and Moose’s voice," Fig added as they took the elevator to the intensive care unit floor. "Moose still runs a few tests on her. The results might have come out by now."

"I see." Dominic nodded in understanding, keeping his eyes on the numbers above the elevator door. "Let’s see what he has for us. I sent a few people to assist him. Did they come?"

"Those doctors?" Fig rocked his head. "They arrived the next day you left. Didn’t Moose tell you?"

"He did, but I was worried he wouldn’t let them touch her."

Fig simply nodded in understanding, knowing Moose had too little trust in other doctors. After all, he only trusted a few doctors in the past and they colluded with Dragon.

"Mr. M... why is he the one running the test?" Standing beside Dominic was Axel, looking back at Fig curiously. "I never knew he could do that. I mean, is he even allowed to?"

"Moose is originally a doctor," Bear answered, standing beside Fig and behind Dominic. "One of the best."

Axel’s jaw almost dropped, looking at Bear in disbelief. "Are you sure?"

"It’s a long story," answered Fig. "But we won’t let him take charge of her operation if he isn’t good."

"Bro, do you know this?" Axel gasped, casting Dominic a look.

"Just recently."

"How come?!" Axel scrunched up his nose, almost wondering if they were joking. But the look on their faces told him there was no need for them to lie. "Really?"

"You’re not the first person to have such a reaction," Bear pointed out, recalling Primo’s reaction. "Understandable. Moose isn’t the type of doctor one would think."

"He truly isn’t, considering how he would die for money." Axel shook his head. If not for the situation, he would prolong this conversation. But this wasn’t the time for that. Heaven was in the intensive care unit and after being in a coma, she opened her eyes!

They have to know her condition.

They have to know if this is good or bad news.

And soon, the elevator went completely quiet. Axel gazed up at the numbers above the elevator, furrowing his brows as the lights were stuck on the first floor. However, the lift was still moving down.

"A secret floor?" Axel blurted out, casting Dominic a look. When his brother didn’t respond as if he wasn’t mentally with them, he looked back at Bear and Fig.

"To ensure her safety," was all Bear said.

"If you use this elevator, the floors you can only go to are the numbers available for it," Fig explained to save Axel from more mystery. "But if you press the proper buttons in succession, it’ll take you to the floor only a few know about."

"It’s like a password?"

"Yes."

"I see." Axel rocked his head, understanding this easily because the Secret Floor in the Lyon Headquarters was the same. It was Dominic’s idea, but it seemed his brother got the idea from somewhere else.

Soon, the elevator bell echoed in their ears. Axel perked up and instinctively held his breath, watching the door part ways. Without wasting a breath, Dominic stepped out and his steps were faster than usual. The rest followed, keeping up with his pace. As they headed to their destination, Axel looked around.

The floor was just like any other hospital floor. The only difference was that there weren’t many patients and medical staff around.

After a few more minutes, Axel looked ahead. There, Ivy and Tiger were standing outside the door. When they saw their group, they sprung from their seats.

"Where are they?" asked Dominic as soon as he was a few steps from Tiger.

"Inside." Tiger tipped his head at the door, and Dominic didn’t wait a second. "She just woke up again."

Dominic immediately entered the two-door heading to the intensive care unit. After the quick sterilization process, Dominic went in to hear the full report from Moose; and to see his wife as well. This time, Bear, Axel, Fig, Tiger, and even Ivy followed, going through the sterilization process one after another.

As Dominic approached, he immediately caught Moose standing beside the bed. After a few more steps, he caught a glimpse of Heaven staring blankly at the ceiling. The sight of her brought all these emotions he couldn’t define in a single word.

"You’re here?" Moose glanced at Dominic, watching the latter stand on the spot across from him.

"Heaven..." Dominic trailed off as he stared into her eyes. However, the subtle smile on his face soon faded as his hand paused before he could hold her.

Moose kept his lips in a thin line and kept his gaze on the frozen Dominic. He sighed deeply, setting his eyes down on the patient lying flat on the bed.

"She’s been like this," he said quietly. This time, it was meant for everyone to hear. "We did a lot of tests the moment we found out she opened her eyes."

Moose paused as he rocked his head. "All her lab tests came back as well," he continued, eyes on Heaven. "To be honest, it was almost a miracle. The fractures on her skull healed up as if they weren’t there in the first place. Some of the other fractures in her spine were gone, and almost all of her internal injuries."

"Her recovery rate just jumped into a hundred percent," he added solemnly. "The only problem is that she wouldn’t respond. I pricked her finger, but nothing. Gave her a few exercises, but to no avail. I can even count how many times she had to blink in the past hour, and it’s abnormal. So, I still have to —"

"Can she get up and fight in this state? From a doctor’s point of view and a friend, can she?"
